[NFP] April Update Video

Khmer has transformed from a Civ I don't think I'd ever touch to one I'm dying to try out.

I like purchasing non-religious units with faith, I like absurd food yields on farms, and I like unorthodox, easy methods of tourism. So when you give me a Civ that can do all of that, well... I might have a new favorite Civ.

Plus, the idea of attracting Tourists because of crowded cities is just funny to me

TSL Huge Map?
What about support for maps larger than that? Is it working now?

Also Khmer giving faith per population. This is MADNESS. 10 cities with 10 pop each is 100 fpt.

The magnificent and innovative architecture made to cope with the huge growth of Citizens might have something to do with that, from a roleplay point of view.

All of the changes look nice at the very least. I fear that the Mission and Ice Hockey Rink will still be fairly late unlocks, and I found it weird that Kevin seemed to announce the fleets/armadas bonus of Spain as though it were new. At least, it came off that way to me anyhow. The Canada changes are not as nuanced as I had hoped, but at the same time ideal: for Canada, flat tundra is now directly equivalent to flat grassland for food yields, and tundra hills/woods are now far better than even plains hills. Blizzards and volcanoes can make all of those tiles even better.

I wish Georgia would get at least part of their Dramatic Ages ability in regular gameplay. Being able to slot in Dark Ages policies during Golden Ages would make for wonderfully unique gameplay, but I suppose it is not to be (outside that game mode, anyway). Too bad the AI is broken in Dramatic Ages and way too easy to beat.

The changes to Spain are especially great, and I think put them in pretty much the perfect spot balance-wise. The Mission is a decent improvement already, though I wish it had an extra little sweetener like some housing. Otherwise, they look to be perhaps the only civilisation which can truly thrive off of domestic trade routes, which is exactly the kind of flavour that suits them.

Broadly, I think the changes to naval AI will lead (hopefully) to the AI settling more coastal cities, which will help all naval-oriented civilisations feel more useful. With any luck, some improvements to coastal tile yields will also be included in the overall balance changes. For this video they seemed to go over the "big ticket" updates, leaving probably a lot more for the patch notes.

Do you all think we will be getting a First Look type of video on Thursday with more details?

The UB should honestly just be a UD (buildings are by far the worst, especially when not discounted, like Poland's), and I would think the best thing would be to give them some bonus towards pastures, like Civ V Russia. Whereas Khmer is the food+faith civ, have Poland be the production/military+faith civ.
Poland built around relic mechanic is a good idea. I would give Poland:
1. 50% production toward Holy Site if adjacent to City Center to help establish religion
2. Some relic generation mechanic
3. +x Combat Strength to all units if they are y hexes from building with a relic.
I am ok with a UI but not a pasture bonus. It has nothing to do with polish history tbh. "Folwark" would be much more accurate.

Are you trolling me? :p

(Or just fire up Civ VI and look at Phillip's leader screen).
No, I'm probably just crazy. :crazyeye:
Though I agree that's the ability now, I'm trying to wonder if that was the same ability five years ago on launch. I know that fleets were always unlocked at Mercantilism, but I thought I remembered Spanish Armadas weren't until Nationalism, the usual one for Fleets. :dunno:

Very true. NYC, Bangkok, etc.
Not to mention the largest city in the world in terms of population, Tokyo.

For the Mapuche, it seems like you'll want to do some early conquest and put your Governors into the conquered Cities, building up your armies there.

Yup. And those guys at the wiki have done a great job of updating Lautaro already -> Lautaro (Civ6) | Civilization Wiki | Fandom

So Swift Hawk doubles the loyalty (+40) when defeating a unit of a civ in a GA. Nice!
I'll be looking forward to Mapuche doing some city flipping a la Elanor :)

Given the language of Firaxis and their staff about this update, I wouldn't really take "final game update" statement at face value. :P

Especially when the same one said that now Spain unlocks Fleets and Armadas at Mercantilism. :mischief:

I haven't read all the posts in this thread. But it's weird to me that China is boosted (all the other boosts are for relatively weak civs like Spain). And I briefly checked the feedback of the Chinese player community, they seem to think so too.

your new cities in other continents will grow like crazy with the production change and the 25% to districts!

I'm worried Hungary won't get any kind of buff. They look kind of lame compared to this.
