[NFP] April Update Video

Here's Georgia too:

And also, Canada:

Spain and Khmer are very interesting now. I like that Spain has an incentive to colonize.

Also, Mapuche seems to have become a domination civ now .

Man this is one heck of an update:
  • New units, especially the TREBUCHET
  • Naval AI improvements
  • Big changes to Civ bonuses: Spain, Mapuche, China, Georgia, Khmer, Canada, etc.
Also, JUST GIVE US A CLEAR ANSWER DANGIT FIRAXIS! IS CIV VI DONE OR NOT!?

So... what do we all think about the buffs? Personally, I'm interested in the Khmer buffs.

Khmer buffs look cool to make them a huge pop and faith civ (and culture to some degree), though I'm sad they appear to have removed the relics from missionaries ability of the Prasat, removing some of their uniqueness as a reliquaries belief win civ.

It appears the Prasat is a Building meant for tall play now: It provides +0.5 Culture for every Population in its City, and +10 Tourism if it has 10 Population or more and +20 Tourism with 20 or more Population.

I actually like this a lot more, as I hate letting my religious units die.

Probably so if the Khevsur replaces them. That might mean the same for Norway's Berserker and Japan's Samurai. Also Khmer's Domrey replaces the Trebuchet.

I'll be honest, given the fact that they weren't integrated to begin with I wouldn't be surprised if they still aren't. Obviously the new units are since they are the focus of the update but I'm not really expecting much for the older units in this update.

For the Mapuche, it seems like you'll want to do some early conquest and put your Governors into the conquered Cities, building up your armies there.

I wonder if that means that at 20 pop it'll give +20 tourism, or +30 tourism (due to getting both the 10 or more and 20 or more bonuses)

Canada, while still gimmicky, is nowadays very strong on tundra and will be drawned towards it rather than looking at it only like a possibility if plains are already taken.
Khmers kept their theme, but are now strong with it! They bonuses revolve around gaining massive pop and having massive pop. Truly good synergy.
Spain is now stronger than ever. Sure, they are still very "other continent" dependent, but don't forget the +3 gold, +2 faith and +1 production for every trade route, including at the beginning. Sure, it doesn't scale as much as Portugal, but they will have a very strong start. We finally have a true colonial civ, with cities on other continents will be wonderfully efficient.
Also, the free Eurekas and Inspirations from wonders is good for China, and synergizes well, and maintain Qin SHi Huang as a wonder builder throughout the ages. Very good indeed.
Small change for Georgia, but after all they were changed so many times that they were already kind of strong. But for me, the most hopeful thing is that maybe they definitely get rid of the casus belli abilities!!!

Given how they stopped at the +20 Tourism, I'd say they only get +20 Tourism maximum.

Not sure if it's a plus, or not. I still think it should retain the extra relic slot at least, more than a regular temple. :mischief:

At least it now synergizes with the Khmer, but it will feel less unique than it previously did giving missionaries the ability to create relics.

Do you think Spain gets extra builder if you have an ancestrall hall, you still need to get luck as Spain to start near another continent but those bonuses are strong
Also getting +10 tourism as the Khmer from the prasat when your city reaches 10 population seems really strong with how easy it is to grow tall cities as them
To fair, I also like how they buff civs while also keeping their identity

It seems like Prasat (I like the Khmer changes changes) lose their "missionaries get martyr" ability? It was a neat idea that didn't quite work.
R.I.P. Missionary sacrifices. You were useful pawns...
