Ara - civ and leaders discussion/prediction

Yeah, with shared traits and shared animation sets, the dev cost for adding leaders feels pretty efficient... I think in terms of modding, it'd be cool if there was an option for a set of images instead of 3D models, since that'd really lower the barrier to entry... either way I wouldn't be surprised if there were more down the line

They said they have a lot of stuff on their post release roadmap for the game. On the other hand spamming DLC for a gamepass game does not make too much sense. Age of Empires IV has only one DLC that costs 14 dollars. I hope we get new content like leaders etc. as DLC but new mechanics or updated mechanics as free Updates so players who just try out the game on gamepass get the best experience and players who play a lot can get more content via DLC. Stellaris is in this weird place with its 3434723 dlc that add mechanics that everyone plays a different game .

I remember back in 2017 I decided to expand my horizons and give Europa Universalis IV a go. The game had already been out 4 years at that point. I had no idea I would have to do research equivalent to a PhD thesis in order to figure out what DLC to get with it. This was one of the reasons why I wanted to get in on the ground floor with Stellaris. :)

I largely agree with you, although I also wouldn't mind some meatier expansions which add mechanics, just not anywhere near Paradox levels. I think if you go beyond 2 or 3 expansions, you get too many different permutations of what people are playing, and it becomes difficult to ensure a cohesive experience.

Civ 6 fell into this to some extent too, with all its "game modes" which could be toggled in and out.

The Inca look alright. Good at building walls and generating food.

I hope they get some nice looking terrace farms that look graphically different from other Civ's farms. I don't really see an indication of that with the XBox preview, though.
