Are the Devs responding somewhere?

It's not "quite obvious" at all. But even if you're right, we still have the "Fifty million Elvis fans can't be wrong!" example. Replace Elvis with Civ VI and there you go.

I guess fifty million Elvis fans have impeccable ethics.

I addressed the issue about aesthetics. So I was right to say that you confuse objective artistic criteria with subjective taste in entertainment. A work of art (let's not argue right now if videogames are art) can be judged on two levels: objective criteria measuring influence, depth, technique and other criteria related to its artistic qualities, and audience reception. Tchaikovsky's work was amazingly well received by audiences but was berated by contemporary critics. Over time the tide shifted and he is now highly regarded.

Ever notice how your arguments sound like a defense attorney arguing why his client caught on video with 50 witnesses really is innocent? Well, I do at least.

No, I am unable to notice things that aren't there.

That's you in your profile picture, isn't it?

I guess Justin Bieber's music is objectively good by your definition. So are the Twilight movies, Candy Crush, High School Musical, Pewdiepie, Paradise Hotel, Fifty Shades of Grey and every other piece of media with millions of fans that are the butt of jokes by the more intellectually gifted among us.

And self righteous, apparently.

They are objectively good as entertainment. If you are arguing about their artistic qualities that's another thing. What's your point? Are you arguing that Civ VI is not good from an artistic perspective?

This is an insult to decent half-asses everywhere. I think a general play stoppage for 1 day would send a strong message to the devs.

Sorry, no. I am not at all interested in participating in such a futile endeavor.

The game is newly released, and has some bugs and balance issues. This is expected. Just as it has been in all other Civ iterations, the devs will soon release a patch that addresses these concerns. If you do not enjoy the state of the game as-is (along with the mods already being created to fix some of the current issues), then you are free to stop playing until after the first or second patch. Many of us, however, are quite happy to be exploring this imperfect game in the mean time.

To posters who overestimate their ability to send strong messages: I don't think the publisher cares about you not playing for one day, seeing as you already purchased the game.

If everyone stops playing for 1 day, that is one whole day of opportunity to find bugs gone. Not only will you fail to send this dubious message you claim you would to the devs, you are also boycotting yourself by hampering community-assisted the bug-tracking process. It is not merely a futile endeavor, it is downright harmful.

I hate seeing naivety like this. Some patches aren't going to fix this game. This game is fundamentally broken, just like Civ V. Civ V is much better than it was at release, but still fundamentally broken.

You can polish a turd but it will remain a turd.

I see nothing fundamentaly broken with Civ 5. You may not like its mechanics or gameplay in general, but that doesn't make it broken.

But, wait, aren't video game opinions subjective? You've spent half this thread crying about exactly that, and now you're telling me my opinion is wrong.

You may like its nonsensical 1UPT, global happiness and brain dead AI. That doesn't mean it isn't broken.

I didn't say your opinion is wrong. Where did you see that? I am saying your opinion is not universal. You cannot put forward your opinion as if it is fact. Saying it is broken because you don't like it is presenting your opinion as fact.

A game's purpose is for people to enjoy it. That is the very definition of a game being good. If people enjoy it (and Civ 5 was the most succesful) then it is good. There's a lot of people that believe Civ 4 was the pinnacle of the series. I personally didn't like it. That doesn't mean it's not good, only that I didn't like it. The best game in the series so far was Civ 5 for me and so it was for millions of people. Very few people would like it if it was broken or boring.

Lol. What utter tripe. Feel free to not like the game, I'll remain content in my 'naivety'. :D

Sure the game has issues. So what? I'm wrapping up my first victory (America, culture, Prince) on a huge map with 12 civs and I'm really enjoying the game. There are at least a dozen problems that need fixing ASAP, but the game is still playable and has not crashed on me yet.

Why don't you practice what you preach? You lambast me for saying the game is broken, yet you insist the game isn't broken. You cannot put forward your opinion as fact. Saying it isn't broken because you enjoy it is presenting your opinion as fact.

Very few people would complain about Civ V if it wasn't broken. I guess you live under a rock and ignore the vast amounts of criticism it received.

You're going round in circles and accusing me of what you are doing yourself.

lets see now

- the AI is war mad and always spawns right next to you and gunning for you within 50 turns.
- the war wariness is hell.
- everyone will always hate you.
- the Ai are back stabbing MOFO that should never EVER be trusted with trade deals.
- the religion spam is horrendous.
- the popups are annoying.

but it's playable

You see, whilst I've been too time starved to get through many games, I've so far only been in one War, started by me. I've had AI friends for the length of entire games, though most of the World seems to hate eachother. The rest seem to be just UI points (which are fair, the UI fairly poor).

Whilst there should be some balance, the AI doesn't seem half as bloodthirsty as some seem to suggest. Are people just not building military at all, and expecting the AI to not take advantage of the lack of early game warmongering penalties?

you must be playing on a super low difficulty than because wars break out every single game with me and i don't start them whether i have a military or not.

Same here (more or less ) King and Enperor... But military is needed otherwise Dow...

I actually build a weak military on purpose, and they DOW, and I get no warmonger penalty, and then I quickly build an army and crush them.
