I see the human races anihilation as a positive thing so I found it fun to watch;):)

The only bit that disturbed me was big Ben tolling.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee.

Of course God would swat the meteorite aside before that happened, he's got big hands you know :)

i afraid cloud and is gettin it on with little miss to busy to call on holy and the lifestream.
After reading this comment at the page, that asteroid cant come a minute too soon if you ask me.

Asteroid!? That's a freakin' planet! Quite interesting though.

Shocking and awesome. I am just overwhelmed and amazed. I hope someone redubs this in english, or provides a proper translation, but even that not withstanding, the images were hauntingly traumatic.

A little respect would have been nice to read from the internet trolls that posted comments on that site, but overall - a first class job.

My 2 cents

I fear the cloud and and am getting it on with a prostitute(or single lady, difficult to tell really, the first available fluzy?) So I'm too busy to pray to the creator.

At least the guys got his priorities straight, go out with a bang.:)

I missed the sub text, actually I'm kind of glad I did, that's no ordinary translation there.

According to the explanation, "[t]he diameter of the meteorite is slightly bigger than the breadth of Honshu Japan". This would mean something like 300-500km across, which would be very big asteroid, but still much smaller than Ceres, the biggest main belt object at about 950 km.

Edit: Put another way, we're looking at an object with a mass of a few thousandths of that of the Moon.

Armageddon is a place not an event.

It would be cool to find a way to surf that preasure wave.

Armageddon is a place where an event takes place to be precise, according to Revelations the point where the Earth comes to an end, the last battleground.

I'm sure we could find a better way to do this without annihiliating all living things on Earth though. Like a bio-engineered, altered virus or whatever disease that only spread from human to human. :p

I can't stop giggling now, what with my monsterously inhuman comment and your suggestion for a better way to anihilate ourselves I've come over with the giggles

Right on man, save the whales :)

The atmosphere is stripped off by the blast as well in a big fireball, to be honest I think both would happen.

I wonder what the largest impact humans could feasibly survive through would be? Deep Impact size maybe?

the sim i saw of an asteroid hitting us, it was on the Science Channel IIRC, the crust went molten almost on impact. not this cloud of fire stuff in this video, the wohle surface was lava again, i assume beceuse of the huge inflx of energy raising the temperature of the earth so much that the rock just melted.
The Earth being fairly big and a poor heat conductor, I find it hard to imagine the entire crust could get melted "instantly" on anything shorter than a geological timescale.

That was... disturbing.

That wasn't very realistic ... everybody knows that large meteorites will only hit the USA. :p
Oh wait ... only the ones that God sends have the USA as the prime target. :D

Nice movie btw.
