I've yet to encounter a thread like this so here we go...

Scotland is part of the United Kingdom. It occupies the northern third of the island of Great Britain, it shares a border with England to the south and is bounded by the North Sea to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west, and the North Channel and Irish Sea to the south-west.

The kingdom of Scotland emerged as an independent sovereign state in the early middle ages and continued to exist until 1707, although it had been in a personal union with the kingdoms of England and Ireland since James VI of Scotland succeeded to the English and Irish thrones in 1603. On 1 May 1707, Scotland entered into an incorporating political union with England to create the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

Any questions about my opinions on Scottish matters or about Scotland itself are welcome! :)

You can ask a Scotsman absolutely anything. I have done so. Understanding the reply, is a different matter.

Have you ever been on a wild haggis hunt?
Is it true that the legs on one side of the body are longer than the other from running around the mountains? If so do they come in right and left handed varieties?

If Scotland splits from the UK what will happen to the SNP. Could the SNP decline and the Scottish Labour and Conservatives grow again?

If the SNP manage to somehow pull off a win, then I believe their party will fragment. It will see those on the left, the right and the centre leaving to form/join the new left/right/centre political forces that will exist in a new independent Scotland. The party is made up of people all over the spectrum, if they get their way then they will have no reason to stick together imo.

Don't leave us Scotland, please. Leaving us to the mercy of the Conservatives. Or will it be more schismatics?

Those pesky Tory bandits.

Where abouts in England is Scot Land?

When you come upon an Englishman, how strong is the urge to yell freedom?

Do you agree the problem with Scotland is that it is full of Scots?

Question: why are there no true Scotsmen?

Do you support scottish independece ?

if Scotland was independent would you support EU membership ?

Ancillary question: Would breaking off from the UK to join the EU really make all that much difference?

Is Scots a real language?

Do you like haggis?
