Ask An Atlanteologist

Is that a line of morse code I can see ~ 9 lines from the bottom of the map?

What's it say?

Mystery solved. But it has been interesting, a clear example of how lack of enough information can lead to the most bizarre theories. :p

There is this theory that Insula Atlantis is just a scaled down version of South America. If we start from the Piri Reis map, why would we go "back" to the smaller map?

I read his book Fingerprints of the Gods many years ago. The map is the early 1500's? Then he would have the coastlines of North and South America from other explorers. He claims the southern extension of South America is an ice-free Antarctica copied from more ancient sources. Wikipedia calls this claim controversial.

I did not know about this one either. I wonder what the other side looks like. I guess I can google it.

You do mean West, don't you?

Yes, yes I do. I do mean west. :)

Hey EltonJ,

Maybe this has already been answered, but I'm curious what sort of foundation you belong to, what university, or wherever it is that you do your "Antlanteology".

Do you have a degree in this field? What other accolades do you hold? What sort of research do you do with your colleagues on a day to day basis?

Do you guys travel to archaeological sites often? Or is most of your work done at a desk?

Do you get funded?

This field isn't taught in Universities. There was a professor of obscure, ancient languages in Texas that could recognize Lemurian in how it was spoken by two kids (one of them a retired U.S. Air Force major, now), but that was in the 1950s. All of us are virtually self-taught, self schooled. I myself studied this field since I was 12 years of age. I am 39, so I've been at it for 27 years, I believe. I have the equivalent of a Doctorate Degree in the field, but no one can call me "Doctor."

One of us was a Foreign Correspondent. More than many of us are Engineers of various stripes, some of us are Mythologists, one of us is a geologist, and another one of us is a self taught Egyptologist. Others are like me, pure independent researchers.

I mainly debate with them when I get a chance on Top Secret, but I keep my living source a secret. As do I get funded? No, not for this research. Searching for a lost civilization before the end of the Older Dryas and saying you find it is a way not to get funding.

I'm currently trying to put my notes together for a "Fantasy" Roleplaying Game, but mainly what keeps me away is lack of crowdfunding. :)

How does one self-teach the equivalent of a doctorate? Who sets the exams and decides the pass mark?

I imagine it's similar to those "Christian" diploma mills that allow dubious scientists to claim to have bona fide degrees.

Of course not. It is contrary to what is taught in mainstream Archaeology.

A PhD usually requires years of undergraduate and graduate study to get the educuational background, an original work (dissertation) and several papers published in journals based on the dissertation.

I do not know anything about these diploma mills, but I imagine you do some coursework by correspondence and send in a written paper and they review it and give you a degree. But he did not claim to have the equivalent of a Doctorate degree.

There is also the question of what articles or books you have written to get your name known and recognized in the field.

So, you consider yourself doctor? You shouldnt stop there, then. One day you may become rector of the univesity of Saturn or something.

Who are your favorite musicians from the times of Atlantis?

I don't know. No music has survived from that Aeon. While the processes of producing music have been known since man could speak and sing, I have no idea what kind of music they produced. The closest we've come to Atlantean popular culture is the popular culture of the Ven, whose works have curiously survived (they are alleged to have been recovered in Israel). And we know next to nothing of the Ven.

Yes, it is.

I was planning to write my dissertation into a work of fiction, since fiction based on this topic is much more acceptable. But I need to gather my notes first and to make larger plans. So far, this thread has been helpful to me.[/quote]

No, I said that to say I have knowledge equivalent to a doctorate of the field. The reason why I said "no one can call me Doctor" because I don't hold the honor. :)

all of my articles are on an unfinished wikia project. It suddenly got too ambitious, so I am taking a rest from it. I have a half-finished article on human origins, for instance.

2 -- The Crystal Power Source in the movie is not at all possible. It's not real science.
Nothing you have said in this thread is real science.

The planets were held in a straight line by tidal action. And what does this have to do with Atlantis? They saw it.
Planets don't just stop in their orbits.

ancient aliens is the best series on tv, nowhere else do we get to see the monuments and temples and ruins our ancestors left behind.
Try National Geographic.

I don't think that they contend aliens from that far back. They question why the science allows for such long times spans. Why can't modern humans picture the polar caps free from ice?
I am a modern human. I can "picture" the polar caps free from ice - and it's not good, since global warming will be wreaking even more havoc on our planet than it is now.

I just ask him questions. Sometimes a statement from me provokes a favorable response.
Like a Ouija board?
