The Great
MY NEW NES!
This is a sign!!!A sign of realism!!!I'm tired of NES's that aren't realistic...So this is the turnaround. With every action there is both a positive and negatice happening. You kill someone that was pissing you off and the result is he's dead...One less mouth to feed, and to hear...Bad side it will make his relatives mourn. That is the code this NES will run by.So remember that everything you do will have a positive and negative reaction.
With that I would like to go over the rules...THis is the begining of the colonial age,Black Powder was just shown to the west,Still swords, pikes, and other hand to hand weapons were the main weapons in combat, for now.
Economy
This is the economy of the peasants...There will be 2 numbers for this. The first being the gold economy, second being the amount of food accessable at reasonable prices. These stats are endless, but you might want to take into effect that with food economy 0 is starving and 5 is great...6 and above is surplus really (You can use them levels for war!
).The gold economy is the overall amount of gold in the pockets of your people...You can raise it by not collecting taxes. You can raise food economyby paying 1 gold per gold economy level
Thus gold economy is raised without collecting taxes for a year
If you have a gold economy of 3 it will cost 3 economy to raise the food economy by 1
Taxes
You may tax your people none, light, moderate,or heavy...And depending upon what kind of army you have is how efficient your taxing is.If you don't tax your people any you gain a gold economy level(And a happiness boost). If you tax them highly you will loose a gold economy level. If you tax them lightly they will like you, moderately will have no difference on anything.
The formula for the amount of money collected from taxes is posted below
Armed force's
Your force's are the backbone of any country in this time era.Without an army you are nothing.Without a strong army you are conquered. Thus you must worry about how to best strengthen your forces. There are many factors you may use when worrying about your army's stats.Numbers,Equipment,Ammunition, loyalty, and leadership...The upkeep of every 100 men is 1 gold. When you raise your army you will raise it by 200...In battle it costs 1 food economy level to supply 1 year's worth of battle.
Therefor if you have 1000 men it would cost 10 gold to pay them
If you were too buy 1000 swordsmen it would cost 20 gold(If they've got standard equipment).Because once again...Only 200 per raise.
Equipment
The better the equipment the higher the cost(amount depending on the equipment). All soldiers have their weaknesses and strengths.Such as pikemen, and bowmen (Or musketeer) ruling cavalry, and Cavalry ruling over infantry, and infantry ruling pikemen and everything ruling a bowman or musketeer in short range (Unless their equipment permits them to go short range fighting well). Some nations won't have the same equipment others do(Those that don't will have to research...Or buy from a different country). To upgrade your equipment just say how, either in story or in orders..There will be a list O equipment that you can use to upgrade your army with,as well as the different types of units.(YOU CAN UPGRADE THE EQUIPMENT FURTHER!)
When you upgrade the equipment of a unit you cannot make crappier equipped types of that unit
When you upgrade a unit you must upgrade all of the same unit to meet the current standards...Thus my example at the bottom.
When buying an upgraded unit you would take the basic cost minus the cost of the thing you upgraded (Swordsman would have been the short sword if you were to have long swords now) and then you would add the new weapon's cost (So a standard swordsman would cost 3 per raise...And a longswordsman would cost 4 per raise)
Amunition
The more amunition your men have the more dammage they can inflinct onto the enemies.Remember that musket round can only be fired off in front of your army whereas archers can fire from behind your army, therefor at this stage there are advantages of having those midievil aged troops still.1 gold per 500 arrows and 1 gold per 200 musket rounds(Gunpowder dose and everything included).
The amount of amunition your people have is how many times your men can shoot the enemies before they reach your men.
Loyalty
Without your troops being loyal how cna one get anything done? You must have loyal troops to colloect high taxes (Because of the looks on the poor people's faces as they pay the outrageous amounts of dough),and you must have loyalty to go against more powerful foes...Even weaker enemies will be tough with crappy loyalty,so keep their spirits high!If you can't pay their wages they're going to not be happy..If you loose alot of troops in a battle your people are going to remember it,then run in fear of them too losing their lives (Unless their loyalty is high)
Leadership
You can hire generals that are good in their own ways...You can have up to 3 generals and I will roll a die to see how good they are when you say "Find general".First though, you can spend up to 20 gold on the expidition to find a general (each gold will give you 5 more percent chance of finding a general). Then you must pay each general a sum of your gold economy level worth of gold each turn as a Salary.(Stats will go from 1-6 and there will be Archery,Hand to hand,Musket,Gunnery(naval war),and ship to ship(Naval as well).
So in the orders you decided to look for a general...You spent 20 gold on an expidition and therefor found one without a doubt of having failed...The general's stats would look something like
Archery:2
Hand to Hand:6
Musket:4
Gunnery:5
Ship to ship:1
Naval forces
Behind the colonisation of the world one needs to have a navy.THere are a few different types of ships...The costs and uses for each ship will be told below
Galley(A ship usually used to transport troops...Has quite the payload)(30)
Xebec(Decent ship...Big'n tough...And easy to meneuver)(50)
Sloop(Small warship...Like an "escort" that was used in America durring the civil war.)(10)
Caravel(Usually used as trading ships...But if you fealt like mounting some cannons on it you could do some dammage)(30)
Divide the cost of the ships by 10 to get their yearly salaries. Also if you get a carracel and put it to trading dutie you can gain the nation that you're send it trading to's gold economy worth of gold each turn.
Thus if I send a caravel to trade with a country with a gold economy of 3 I would gain 3 per turn till I take my caravel off of that, and maybe trade with a different country. The other country also gains 3 gold per turn per caravel
Education
This is how knowledgeable your nobles and upper classmen(and sages) are...Without the education of your sages and whatnot you cannot invent much...Or it will take a long time for them to invant their task.
Population
This is a measure of how densely populated your lands are.If you have a huge amount of land and it's densely populated...Expect a nice treasury to come in...You can't really raise population except by a few ways (Excepting refugee's from a war beaten country or something).Population density is represented by a word level...Levels go as this: Non-existant,Light,Moderate,Decently dense,Very dense,Cramped like a mofo.
The higher population density the more taxes you gain...Also the more cramped your people are the more pissed they'll be.
Citizen mood
Unhappy people=unhappy events.
Language
"What!?Are you calling my momma fat!?"*KIlls a villager* "You're people killed one of my villagers! This means war!" (That's what I'm talkin about!)
Your people should speak their language...other peoples will speak their languages.
Trade
Send a caravan or cog...From trade you will recieve their gold economy level times 2...it costs your gold economy level times your food economy level worth of gold to open.
If you were to open a trade route with someone and have a gold economy of 2 and a food economy of 2 it would cost 4 gold to open it...And if the partner had a gold economy of 3 you would gain 6 gold from them per turn.

When I figure how much is collected from taxes I use the following formula: land (I will put a number here for each country) times density times economy times taxes. The number that I will put in there for taxes will be as follows none=0 light=1 moderate=2 heavy=3
EXAMPLE FIRST TURN ORDERS
-Tax heavily
-Make 200 archers (3)
