The people of Sparta, Athens, Macedonia and Bulgaria all cheer for a united region has formed. The Spartan Federation has been formed after years of organizing and diplomacy with nieghbors and enemies though peace has been made only until...

The Serbs enter this world with a very big amount of territory but no military. This shows a threat of thier agressive settlers. We must take a stand and join them as the fifth part of our Federation. I call my generals from all areas of Athens, Sparta, Macedon and Bulgaria into my room to sit on the long table and discuss this issue. Many mumbles come from different sides of the room, hard to hear.

"Welcome, you are here today to discuss the issue of the "Serbs" and how to go about it. I have decided that we will attack them and put them in the fifth part of our new Federation. They are weak with only about 100 soldier and they can at the most recruit another 100, making us still more than two times stronger. To finish them off in no more than 100 years we will need strategy, a good one"

Many across the table continue to mumble and whisper and one general from Macedonia rises up.

"Hello sir, my name is Philip, of Macedon. As we now have the technology of this new "Copper" material, we should be able to use this to our advantage. As said the Serbs, um, are very uneducated and narrow minded. We have the technology of Arrow, Spears, and horsemen. They most likely do not. Our new arrow weapon was recenly studied and is being sent to military schools and our barracks all over the Federation. They do not stand a chance and must be dealt with very strategically to allow a minimum amount of casualties on our side. I suggest studying a new weapon called the "Phalanx" for which can be of very good use"

Many continue to mumble and whisper and begin to nod thier head. They agree. I wonder though, will this
"Phalanx" work??? It has never been use before and is wondered what it is about. I order my other generals out of the room except Philip. I sat him down in my own office and decided that it is time to discuss a new upgrade in his ranking for he has true pontential and a view of future victory and success.

"Yes, sire, what may I do of any help?" He askes.

"Umm, I would need you to better explain this Phalanx, what does this look like?"

He took a stone pallete and a stone carver and quickly drew a a simple line and what looks like two hand on different sides of the stick.

"It is a very long spear made of Copper and can take out enemies as they try to get not even 4 foot close to them, they hold it like this and just move with it, like our regular Spearmen," He explained.

I was facinated by the idea!

"This is fabulous and should be started to work on now!" I ordered.

We will begin the study of this "Copper" and add it into the study of this new secret weapon, the "Phalanx".

"You are very smart and talented in military wise and I think, you may suit better in a job with more power. You may be able to do more for our Federation" I told him.

"Ahh sire, it is what I have been longing for all my life." He hapilly replied.

"I will give you the position of, Command General, or Secretary of War. You will be the top chief of all the Generals in our ground military. May you succeed with flying colors in this position and may god help you. Thank you, and you may leave now. I want you back here tommorow at sun-rise for more discussion on our main strategy for the Serbs."

He left the room and I decided that it was time for my nightly tea and to go to bed for I am tired of the long day of sleep.

One night later in Sun-rise

My generals flourish the long table behind my new Command General. I welcome them with handshakes and hugs. My maid comes with some Athenian Tea Leaves and several cups of sweat Spartan water from the flowing Euritean River right beside us. We discussed for hours, pros and cons and what should be done, though nothing could be decided. Many were tired from the wooden seats that they were all standing up, grumpy and back-ached. Just untill something came to my head, a series of different images that just might work. I begin to write it down...
