Aren't you at least a little tine bit scared of your afterlife? If what you say is true, then when you die, there is nothingness, so doesn't that scare you at all?

2 rules:

No flame! :nono:

Tell honestly! :nono:

I mean it for that one! Saying you are not scared of something like this will not make you brave, IMHO. Please answer honestly!

Poll comming.

Well, I'm agnostic, so I dont believe there is necesseraly nothing when you die. My only opinion is that I'll only find out when I die. That being said, I'm not afraid of dying, I had the chance to experience life, but all good things must end.

Well, I'm sort of a 'spiritual atheist'. I don't believe in any god, but i do believe that it could be possible for things like the "soul" to continue existing after the body dies.

Of course. Every day I wish that Christianity or some other religion was true, and that there was some all-loving deity out there that would grant me eternal life just for believing in him or her.

Of course, every day I also wish for billions of dollars and for superpowers. That doesn't mean any of it is going to happen.

Thats called agnostism.

I don't care if I die, because life here is miserable. If there's a life after death, oh well. If not, better than life.

But I don't view the theoretical "soul" as anything mystic or etheral, but rather a perfectly observable scientific phenomenon. This Idea is the basis of most of my amateur Sci-Fi.

Well, when I transcend you'll be the first to hear about it.

Of course, fear of dying is one way we stay alive longer, it's a good thing. Of course, you can't let that fear consume you and prevent you from living.

'Death' doesnt bother me. The universe consists mostly of inanimate matter. If theres no after life, I'll be in some pretty good company. There'll be no difference between my atoms and those of a 15 billion year old blackhole. If there IS an afterlife, well, then we'll see whats what. Personally though, I know there is defintely an afterlife;)

Who's scared of Atheism? You? I'm more scared of Christianity, but whatever. The question was "are you afraid of dying"; the answer is "yes". What part of that makes Perfection (and me) afraid of Atheism?

There is a real thin line betwen agnostism and whatever else. I believe in supernatural in the way that our current knowledge could never explain it. Maybe one day science will be able to explain what right now seems like supernatural.

No afraid of dying at all. I'm going to sin my way to heaven. You're only going to hell if you sin by not sin enough.

Perfection, a famous atheist has just admited that he is in fact scared of Atheism , so he is an honest, logical atheist... :goodjob:
I'm not scared of atheism, I'm just afraid that I won't be able to learn as much as I'd like to about the fascinating universe we live in.

So are you saying that any atheist who doesn't fear death is not honest?

Death comes to everyone, you can't avoid it, you can delay it but that's it. You are going to dissipate into nothingness too Fox, despite your beliefs. No proof exists of an afterlife. But, if it makes you feel better, keep on believing.
