Athiest holidays!

Dood. You can say whatever, but the reality, the real deal on the street, is PRECISELY what I said. Deny it all you want, but it still remains, St. Patricks day is an excuse to go drinking at the club and get wasted while wearing green and St. Valentines day is about giving a girl a good enough gift she feels obligated to sex you up.

Right. So Christmas is an athiest holiday too, as it's about Santa Claus and giving presents! Screw the celebration of saints or whatelse!

Well, I have more than once said Christmas is more about commercialism than about Christ these days. Do you deny this?

No, I don't. So you admit that Christmas is a godless atheist holiday, then, by your own standards?

I think it is precisely that for some people. But not for all. Not for me at least.:D

And no one has commented on my "Anton LaVey" Day for atheists yet. I am disappointed.:(

A holiday either is or isn't religious. :p

Besides, as I said before, there's a difference between a holiday for atheists, and a secular holiday. You are using the terms wrong.

I deny nothing. Go to any Catholic Church or Cathedral on St. Patrick's day and/or Valentines day and you will see that the day is way different than your assumptions that you make based on what you see on the streets. I know about the reaity of St. Patricks day and St. Valentines day because I see the other side of it, the Catholic side and the Eastern Orthodox side.

On the flip side, I can say that youre the one in denial about the real meaning of St. Valentines day and St. Patricks day. You my friend are only seeing half of the picture.

Go to any Catholic Church or Cathedral during St. Patricks Day or Valentines day and you will see that its way different than your generalized assumption.

The catholics you see in church early, you see in the pubs boozing and wenching later. Or do you deny those Irish swigging down bear on St. Patricks day are primarily catholics?

Errr. I see the pictures every year, no problemo. Perhaps you need to get out more.

I gurantee you there are more catholics in pubs on St. Paddys day than there are in church. Do you deny this?

Drink up! Happy hour is enforced by god. Tonight special is green beer and John Jameson and Harp!!!That other black Irish "beer" is omited.

No one has said April Fool's Day yet? :joke:

Man, you guys are slippin'. :p

We get Steak and BJs day on the 14th March.

So by going by your logic based on assumption of "judging the cover by it's book". That means that Christmass is just a day were we all get presents and have a big feast where as Easter is all about the Easter bunny, springtime, and Chocolate.

Also, lay off the generalization of Catholics. Just because were Catholic does not mean that were alcoholics.

Errr. I see the pictures every year, no problemo. Perhaps you need to get out more.
Sorry, I am already out there and unlike you, I look into the background of the holidays.

St. Patrick's Day, its all about St. Patrick, the Patron saint of Ireland who spread Christianity in Ireland. It's not about swinging down beer.

St. Valentines day is about the Christian Martyr St. Valentines who's patronage is the following: affianced couples, against fainting, bee keepers, greeting card manufacturers, happy marriages, love, plague, travelers, young people. Why is it that Valentines day is associated with what you generalize as getting laid and love? It's because of Commercialization. Yes, Commercialization, It hit Christmas and Easter; and it hit Valentines day as well.

I'd suggest you look into the holidays insted of making assumptions based on what you see on the streets.

I gurantee you there are more catholics in pubs on St. Paddys day than there are in church. Do you deny this?
More stupid, illogical generalizations. Just because a person is Catholic does not mean that he or she gets drunk or is a drunk. Do you deny that there are drunk alcoholic Protestants? I'm a Catholic and not an alcoholic, I don't go to bars or pubs on St. Patrick's day and get drunk off my feet. I'd think you have offended many Catholic posters by saying that they get drunk on St. Patrick's day who are not alcoholic nor don't even drink!

greeting card manufacturers

...there's a patron saint of greeting card manufacturers?

So by going by your logic based on assumption of "judging the cover by it's book".

Ah...errrrr...what? o_O:confused:

Also, lay off the generalization of Catholics. Just because were Catholic does not mean that were alcoholics.

Thats not what I said...I said on St. Paddys day a WHOLE bunch of Catholics swig the brew. You cant deny this.

Google is such a wonderful thing.

Oh...so I am supposed to think that those holidays are still what they were intended to be in ancient history as opposed to what I see happening around me today? You need to get with the times CG.

More stupid, illogical generalizations.

You didnt answer the question. Yes or no, do you think there are more catholics in pubs on St. Paddys day than in church? A simple yes or no answer will do fine thx.

Just because a person is Catholic does not mean that he or she gets drunk or is a drunk.

Reading comprehension is your friend. How in the hell did you get this from my question?

Do you deny that there are drunk alcoholic Protestants? I'm a Catholic and not an alcoholic, I don't go to bars or pubs on St. Patrick's day and get drunk off my feet.

Nope and good for you, but I would say your the exception rather than the rule....especially on St. Paddys day.

Thats not what I said...I said on St. Paddys day a WHOLE bunch of Catholics swig the brew. You cant deny this.
So do Buddhists, Protestants, Hindus, Jews, atheists, Muslims, agnostics, Zoroastrianists, and Soloralists. Your point? I don't deny anything.

You need to get with the times CG.
I am already with the times MobBoss.

You didnt answer the question. Yes or no, do you think there are more catholics in pubs on St. Paddys day than in church?
No and I'll expand my answer. You cant tell who is a Catholic and who is not a Catholic in pubs or bars. You might get more Catholics in one area and less in some areas. It does not mean that I deny that some Catholics go out drinking on St. Patrick's Day, but they are not alone. Protestants do it to, Buddhists do it to, so do Jews and Muslims.

A simple yes or no answer will do fine thx.
Youre not going to get a simple "yes" or "no" answer :p.

Reading comprehension is your friend. How in the hell did you get this from my question?
You stated that Catholics drink on St. Patrick's day. Not All Catholics do that and it's not just Catholics who drink but also the other faiths I listed earlier.

Sure it does. Its not religious, nor are there any god(s) involved. Totally athiest.
You are smarter than that. If I said a holiday wasn't Jewish, then does that mean that it is Christian? Do Christians not celebrate on the 4th of July? Are atheists the only patriots celebrationg that day?
