AtomicGamer (CivFanatics host) is shutting down

I just received an update from Thunderfall about the migration of CivFanatics to the new server. It's going smoothly. We'll have to take CivFanatics down at some point, perhaps for two days. I'll post more information when it becomes available.

Two days is a mighty long transfer time. How is that split up, exactly? Where is the bulk of the time necessary being allocated?

Two days is just an estimate; it might not take that long. Also, it might take a day or so for the new civfanatics.com IP address to propagate to the DNS servers.

Will there be some sort of offsite blog or something for information while the site is down?

Good question. I'll ask the rest of the staff about using our Facebook or Twitter presence to update our status.

Definitely Twitter in addition to FB, please. Some here prefer not to use Facebook.

Two other questions: Will the posts in the social groups be affected in any way, or peoples' PMs? Some forum activities rely heavily on both of these.

Well here's wishing you fair winds calm seas for the transfer.

The migration is going quicker than expected. Thunderfall will close Civfanatics.com tonight (Friday, July 24) at 10 PM Eastern time.He expects the site to be down for the entire weekend, perhaps longer if the migration doesn't go smoothly. Check our Twitter or Facebook pages for updates. (You don't need a Twitter or Facebook account to read the information.)

I'm also hoping that it won't effect posts within CFC. As with what happened with the older DYOS threads.

It seems like we're back. Thanks guys! :goodjob:

Many mods, including the one you tried to access, were hosted directly by Atomic Gamer, and not through CFC. As Petek noted during the forum migration:
If the files were uploaded via CivFanatics, then they will be migrated to the new server. However, if you have a personal account with Atomic Gamer that you use to store your own files, then you need to contact them for advice.

Unfortunately, for the mods that were hosted on other sites such as AtomicGamer, we don't have a local copy here.

It may be worth a try to contact the modder, to see if he still has it and is willing to upload somewhere which we can take and host it locally....

Contact the modder, or start a thread in the appropriate forum to see whether anybody has a copy. I have reuploaded some Civ3 mods myself but some are still lost until they are dug out from old installs, backup CDs/DVDs/pendrives, etc.

and even check Apolyton if your taste buds can take it
