Attila the Hun : 3D animated, era specific leaderhead

There's a Hun foot unit (really nice one from Dom Pedro) to be used for flavor but I prefer stealing one of the Mongol archers (the bald one ) as the Hun unique unit. I'd use the Slavic Horseman for the Bulgars rather than the Huns (they're on my Medieval 'to include' list).

Hmm.. although the Huns (Xiong-Nu) originated in Mongolia, Attila the Hun was Caucasian and has a white complexion. Attila wasn't evil at all, he just had wanted a whole lot of tribute paid to him and his nomadic people. In fact, Attila was a very sophisticated gentlemen and had elaborate feasts. He wasn't barbaric at all because he was of noble birth.

Very nice leaderhead, I would have wished for him to look more "white" and with a different hairstyle.. but this is good. I got my impression of him from The History Channel's "Attila The Hun".

First off, I love your work, R8XFT. Secondly, I'm a proud Mac user even though it has its obvious downsides such as, say, not being able to decompress .ace files. I'm not sking anything if it's too much trouble, but, is it possible for me to get one of these in a .zip or a .rar? I also loved Moshoeshoe, but he, too, was in .ace form... If anyone here can offer advice or assistance, it's greatly appreciated.

Thanks Unexisted for posting the UU - the Tarkan makes perfect sense for the Huns, though I had thought of the Hun that Dom Pedro II had made. Maybe the Hun could be a flavour unit to replace Medieval Infantry.

Welcome to Civfanatics, Bagatur. Your comments made interesting reading. I didn't think that the Bulgarian cities seemed right, but it's what the Fall of Rome conquest had in it. Perhaps someone could provide a corrected city list please?

Excellent leaderhead! I don't have any immediate use for a Hun civ or leader, but I'm thinking I might be able to use him as an Indian LH for a pre-modern (i.e. pre-Ghandi) setting.

Any specific UU available?

If I'm not mistaken, the Huns were predominantly horse archers off the Eurasian Steppe, much like the later Mongol horde, in their tactics and use of mounted archers. So I would use a horse archer unit for them personally, but not as powerful as the Keshik, probably replacing the horseman (similar to the Iriquois Mounted Archer in stats??). If you don't like that idea, there's always Dom Pedro's "Hun" foot unit.

Indeed, going on linguistics, the Huns IIRC are considered either Turks or Mongols in the earliest sense, i.e., that their language belongs to one of these groups, which two together comprise the Altaian sub-group of Iranian.

The Hungarian language is closest to Finnish, the two together comprising the "Finno-Ugaritic" language group, notable in bering one of the very few known European languages (Etruscan and Basque perhaps being the only other two ... ?) not derived from ancestral Indo-European.

In my post I stated that the Magyars came in the wake of the initial Hunni conquests; it has so far not been discovered how closely related the Magyars were to the Hunni (i.e. if they were an affiliated tribe to them, or even a rival Hun one (although most improbable)- or if they were a completely different ethnicity- btw. the Hunni were probably more then one nation, as scientists were so far unable to clearly define how a typical 'Hun' may have looked like: they most probably were an amalgamation of Eurasian tribes, and the Magyars may well have been part of what is commonly named "the Huns")

I have the Hungarians as a separate civ.... they are their own kind!
The Huns came from Central Asia and that's where their city names should come from.
