B02: God is an American

Oops, guess I should have checked that one before I went hunting.....

1500 IT: Philosophy learned. Currency & Construction unavailable, so I go with Maps. The trade option are limited. The best deal available is Russia but it hurts to give in because they are getting powerful.
- Map, Philo for Horseback, Math, 100g from Russia
- Philo for 96g from Germany
1475
1450 disband 2 scouts. We are paying units cost and we've seen almost all the continent.
1425
1400
1375 Philadelphia founded.
1350 IT: Bismark extorts Mathematics
1325 Atlanta founded.
1300
1275 Chicago founded.
1250

- the upper continent with AI civs is almost filled up, but we have room to grow.
- Statue of Zeus is a highly overpowered wonder that I feel needs to be built asap, so it's in NY.

@MP, I think you might have been able to get Maths from Russia then pulled Currency as the bonus from Philosophy by using the Big Picture option when Philosophy came in. Just something for future reference.....though Map Making was a good choice.

I would have skipped HBR as we don't have any ponies handy and it doesn't uncover any new knowledge for us.

Management notes - switch the SoZ build to Washington and use NY to produce vet warriors and settlers. Start building boats in the two east coast cities. Workers every place else. Not sure Atlanta needs a granary....

I think I specifically checked for that, but I honestly can't remember if I did :crazyeye: .

Those were the only 2 techs the AIs had at the time and I didn't want to risk war/extortion.

Horses have been unconvered on the west islands, so that is now a priority city location.

MP, i presume research is now set for republic?
otherwise nice turns and trades, better to give in before it will be demanded, while getting a few coins.

couldnt have said it better.
SoZ is a must (well, not a MUST, but very nice to have)
all in all, looking forward to my turn again.

I must admit I played the extra turn, after posting the turns and thoughts, and I did pull out currency from philosophy.

SoZ shall be ours !

Roster
Meteor Punch => Just played
Bigfoot <- UP
Soul Warrior <- On Deck

Update: from another SG, I heard Bigfoot is to be autoskipped until further notice. So:

Roster
Meteor Punch => Just played
Bigfoot -Autoskip-
Soul Warrior <- Up
Bede <- On Deck

You know, it's no biggie at all dude. Actually, I said all those scary things about playing DG and rolling the roster around fast in the first post to destabilize people with not enough self-confindence from signing up; that way we get a team of people who are fit enough to lead the way and take initiatives, 10 turns at a time.

BO2 american gods 1250bc-1000bc

preturn switch NY to a rax, then washigton goes Zeus. will finish in 39 (not inc growth)

1-think about atlanta. decide to leave granary for now, start roads on woods.
change Chicago to a galley.
settler pair is headed for the holy smoke.

2-movement only.

3-nada

IBT england completes ToA

4-nada, lower sci to 90, still in 2.

5-Phily worker > galley, Seattle is built > worker. HOLY SMOKE!

IBT CoL is in > REPUBLIC @ 100% in 34, -3gpt.

6-everybody and his sister has CoL, except Japan. they are all up POLY on us.
i can get it for CoL and 100g. decide we dont really need it right now, so delay.

IBT japan and iroquis are building MoM

7-more moving the curragh.

IBT - japan wants CoL + 100 for Poly. nope.

8-Boston warrior > galley,
iroquis (GLight building)
start a chop near atlanta.

9-NY rax > warrior,
everybody has MM now. cant wait to get republic.

10-nada.

Zeus due in 16, started a mine on BG for growth in 2 in washington.
we need more settlers up north, as the russians have crossed the water.
we are losing 4gpt now to sci. we can barely sustain it till republic.
3 galleys in the works. can be switched. earliest one due in 2 (i would leave it for further exploration)

iroquis, japan and germany up poly
russia up poly + construction
russia has a monopoly and will not part with it

Intiative?, did someone say something about intiative?

Got it. Playing tonight so if there are any thoughts, comments, ideas, kick 'em in. WIll check back in about two hours.

Lol Bede, sounds good.

Roster
Meteor Punch -> Even more relativistically about to be On Deck (read this line last)
Bigfoot -Autoskip-
Soul Warrior => :goodjob: Nice work on incense
Bede <- About to be there
Beorn <- Same as the other above, with a more relativistic 'about' notion

lurker's comment: yeah, but now you've got to come up something to keep all the idiot lurkers away. :lol: still trying to translate the SW jive....

About ideas, we definitely need our next north town to make an irrigation bridge for the north part of our land, or to be founded south (I know that's trivial but that's all the ideas my mind can generate at this point). Gut feeling tells me we'll have visitors off our south shore shortly, with all that MM known around(my guts are still working fine).

AK, wanna dance?:bounce:

The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming!!!!

bef02_750BC.jpg

I got San Franciso built just as the Russians planted Bryansk in my face. That was a :smoke: on my part but I was just plain ticked. Built some workers and added a couple into Washington, got two galleys out.

The Russkis beat us to the horse island too. [pissed]

We will get Republic and the Statue of Zeus, though, but will be broke when it happens.

When the statue finishes hook up the iron and start building swords out of Washington (15spt right now). Put together some swords and AC and go after the Russians.

The galleys are sailing north up the west coast.

The low food start has really hampered us. So time to get out the really big stick. Literature is out there now as well as Currency.

That's too bad. I'm thinking the cultural victory is out the window now in favor of first - survival, then maybe domination.

There are still 2 possible city sites in the north, 1 east and 1 west of Bryansk in the pic. Also 1-2 on "horse island," and fishing cities to the south (american tundra).

Is the priority securing remaining cities, securing a few cities, or outright preparing for battle?

When SoZ comes in we can shut off research for a bit, build some swords in Washington , upgrade the warriors we have, build settlers in New York and use the swords and AC to cleanse the north while settling the south, then finish Republic.

Cultural is not out the window, just need to be aggressive about it.

Cultural is certainly not out the window until turn 539, Lieutenant MP.
Dismissed :salute:

Pre-Turn: Philly changed to harbor, since a worker will only hamper it further, I think. It has trouble sustaining size 2, so giving it a harbor won't hurt.
Send Curragh out at sea towards another pack of coast tiles.

T1:
Not much, direct one worker to road iron.

T2:
SoZ->Worker, Atlanta Catapult->Worker.

IT: Russia Settles a second time on what we might look at as the San Francisco Peninsula, and I spot a Jap settler pair as well.

T3:
Washington Worker->Warrior

T4:
Washington Warrior->Warrior.

T5:
NYC Settler->Worker (fits with pop gain), Seattle Worker->Temple(until something more useful comes to mind)
Iron hooked up :goodjob:
Washington working on our first Swordsmen

T6:
Atlanta Worker->Swords
I'm afraid I saw sea tiles across the ocean, but there was no shore ... so we lose a Curragh.
Start rolling troops around so that we have all our vet warriors ready to be upgraded in NYC.

T7:
NYC Worker->Swords, WDC produces AC.

T8:
Can't figure out a way to 15 spt in Washington so I philly keeps 2 BG tiles until I have that hill tile mined.
Swords->Swords in WDC, 3 turns each.

T9:
Movement around, one last warrior to be sent to NYC from Washington, need to swap with another one for MP purposes
Russia hits MA, Jap and Iroq still haven't got any new techs

T10:
Russia is Building Sun Tzu, AKA they got Feudalism freebie.
Incense hooked up and distributed.

B02_550.jpg

We'll have 420 gold of fresh veteran swordsmen to be upgraded in NYC when we have the spare change.
When the hill tile S of WDC is mined, we can have it produce 2 turns swordsmen; until then or until growth, it's stuck at 14 spt max.

Delaware is on Galley, Boston and Seattle on temples, but those really could be changed without a problem if you have ideas. I suggest pop rushing the temple in San Francisco ASAP.
2 warriors are on the roads between WDC and NYC, veteran to move up, regular to move down.
Watch the lux slider, sometimes you can lower the lux tax for an extra 4-5 gold (less deficit in fact).

We'll be a military superpower within the next 20 turns, let me assure you guys :ar15:

On a side note, which happens to be good for us, there are slave exchanges between Iroquois, Russia and Japan. Hiawata is pissed and wars have begun.

Canadian newfies out
