B03: The Spanish Inquisition

Yeah, Hitler is a Bit*h.

SW, I told you about the variant in B02, not much evolved except locked alliance with Rome. Basically, for now, it's temple 1st or 2nd, 2nd if 1st build is a (needed) defensive unit. The rest will kick in as we reach the religious techs: Poly/Monotheism, Theology, and Astronomy (so we have our main force and can contact the americas).

yeah, just read through...
will need a printout with a flowchart to keep track of this variant... dont want to do the Iroquis dance again, do i? ;)

in addition to the Colossus and Oracle, i think we would really want SISTINE's. and the gardens wont be too shabby either.

will play tonight.

Just have it, I don't mind doing 10 from scratch - if I did I would have thought about it ;)

I think that however tough the variant can be, we still can grab whatever wonder we want if we don't get caught up in cascades, so Sistine's was somewhere on my mind but I didn't think it worth mentionning.

Oh and Viking, the Holy Roman empire is also the most notably messed up religious movement I ever read about. The thing about the child army stolen by a Phoenician ship is just out there.

BO3 the spanish conquest SW 3500bc-4000bc

preturn - shave a bit off sci, getting 1gpt. still in 6.

IBT we expand our borders.
VERY NICE land due south.

1- jeronimo walks up the alps to find pink borders.

2- france has Masonry to our pots and tombstones. wait for deals.

3- fields are irrigated so i road.
up lux so no rioting will happen.

4- temple is finished atlast, make another warrior MP.

5- jeronimo gets 25g from Elsace-lorraine. expoliting the area starts early
lux down due to temple. back to profit.

6- a warrior steps out for the stables of madrid, he is called Pancho. start on granary.
our stolid worker needs some refreshments, so he goes closer to Ibiza and wine.

7- Myst is in > WRITING @ 100% due in 24. this is after searching through the variant and making sure i can reseach anything i want for now.
jernimo spots olive borders (the dutch?) in the N.

8- jeronimo runs to try and catch a 3way deal with willie.

9- willie has BW+10g we have Myst
Jules has BW, WC, 10g we have POT, CB
Joan has BW, MAS, 10g we have POT, CB

trading time.
jules gets POTS and CB for WC+10g,
joan wants extorionate rates for mas. dont want to give them Myst.
willie gets WC and 10g for spears.
joan cant pay for bows and wont give MAS, unless we give CB, POT, WC and lots of coin.

10- jeronimo walks abit more.

joan still has monopoly on MAS, but we are richer and can get spears and bows now.
granary in 7, then start pumping settlers out.

enjoy the view.

I guess we're due for a settler before a granary, so we can hopefully grab that hill over there and ensure our empire of 4-6 good nearby cities.

Pre-turn(0): Looks good.

2850 BC(3): Road for wines completed. Yhey.

2710 BC(7): Granary done, Settler started.

OK, those were the most boring turns ever.

I say we need to go as deep E-NE as possible and desireable for a core city, since space will be precious and we want to grab as much as possible. If it can get us a straight up settler factory, maybe another worker, but settling is the top notch priority here, that I know.

And don't forget: spearman or temple first. We don't want to leave our people under the supervision of neither god nor its almighty arm through our men.

dont worry chunky...
it wont stay boring for long. my guess is your next term in the purple habit will be a very interesting one.
about cities. agree on settling ENE asap.
but also note the south... another settler pump possibl there? just food for thought.

I don't have the full map here but with the game and cow we can probably have 2 pumps. However, we won't have ROOM for over 10 cities, so we might want to focus on only one settler pump ASAP, and another doing workers in a near future.

Remember we will be monarchic, and we are not industrious, and we are on a hill-filled terrain. So we need every bit of road and irrigation we can get off of the land improvement to compensate - that's translateable into many workers.

Alright, I play tomorrow. Good thing they're short turns, because I won't have time for long ones.

I definitely agree with settling as close to Rome as possible, since we can't declare on them (did we ever end up putting the Locked Alliance in?).

I believe so, since I saw a pretty smiley Julius in the F4 from 4000BC on.

History of the Papacy:

Pope Saul I
4000BC-3000BC

Pope Chunky I
3000 BC-2630BC

Pope Plisken I
2630BC-????

lmao :D I think it would be Pope Beorn I: 4000BC-3500BC, and Soul I for the other half though, but nice idea.

- Pope Beorn II
- Pope Goes-The-Weasel II
- Pope Chunky II
- Pope Plisken I <- Up
- Pope MadViking I <- Next

Give me suggestions as for the pope names you'll get. You might wanna change on route too :D

I think I may have to swap with Pope Madviking. I've got to read another ~80 pages of a book, and some other homework. After today, I think homework will be less (can't wait for summer vacation :) ), so I can take it after Madviking.
