Aye we do, should be changed - a warrior will be totally useless way too fast. Remember we can't use any swords for wars, so we might as well just keep it to spears - intimidation with swords isn't relevant...

Moreover, monarchy = huge support, so we should plan on getting a huge load of those.

Now I must report sad news: up until June 25th, I'll be in the end-of-semester HS tutoring rush, and nights like tonight where I get several help calls and get draged away from my comp while I should be civ'ing will happen more frequently, at an impredictable pace.

Therefore, be very strict about my 24h's got it; I'll take the bumps kindly. I might take a 10 here and there too, to keep up my papal legacy not too far from yours, guys. But the point is I will be here to play only sporadically.

Got it, playing in a min.

To get it done with indeed, should have mentionned it above, but would have below

Pre-flight: change to spear and temple: Def unit or Temple first, no workers.

T1: Find bulgar warriors in Germany (!), move settler northwards to claim game. Next will claim cows. It'll be called BearishHunger, since all that food will be claimed by pure gluttony.

IT3-4: Jeronimo veteran.

T4: whoops, french settler comes around, I Settle BearishHunger on place, on temple.

T6: settler-> worker: ready in Madrid, it is an official settler factory we've got methinks, but we need mine the cow... worker underway

T7: SWD: spear->temple, spear sent north to scout the french border for eventual town locations.

T10: Settler ready, polytheism ready, settler factory NOT ready by a single turn

Just go for a sweet monarchy slingshot (man I love regent) and all will be well and all will be pleased.

I need  now, sorry for no pict, but my plan as of now is to settle offensively on france and back-fill during the next sets. The next dude might want to play 20 if the anarchy is too long.

Pope Beorn the second, dies at the age of 45, assassinated for Heresy to the pontifical throne meant for Pope Plisken.

Alright, I've got a question.

Pre-turn – Everything looks good.

IBT – Poly->Philo @80%, due in 8, +1 gpt.

1725 (1) – Trade Caesar Poly for IW and the Wheel. Just because we can’t build most units, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t know where the resources are. Great news: We have horses, and 2 sources of iron in our territory, though none is hooked up. Bad news is that France has horses, too, and they’re already hooked up (well, they will be as soon as she get the Wheel).

Trade France Pottery and CB for Masonry and 10 gold.

Found Santiago and start on spear.

IBT – Joan orders our spear to move—what was he doing there anyway?

1700 (2) – Madrid settler->settler. Increase Sci to 90%, Philo due in 6, -2 gpt.

1675 (3) – nothing.

1650 (4) – Seville temple->curragh (next person can change to spear). Settle Murcia.
Warrior see new borders—must be Arabia, judging from the location.

1625 (5) – Meet England, who are the most primitive civ, now. Still not close enough to the other civ—a mountain is blocking the warrior’s sight.

1600 (6) – Madrid settler->settler. The settler factory appears to be in place, with no MM required. Send settler towards Dyes East of SWD. Philo due next turn.

IBT – Philo in, get Monarchy for free. What do we want next? I’ll take Math, since we’ll need a lot of cats. Not that it matters, since it ANARCHY time, baby!
Draw 2 turns through Big Picture, without having to reroll!
Madrid riots…nothing I could’ve done, really. Look through the rest, but none would’ve rioted anyway.

1575 (7) – Well that’s helpful. Hiring a taxman in Madrid stops it from growing, so the settler factory won’t be messed up.

Meet Arabia, finally. Abu has Math! He wants Monarchy for Math and 107 gold, though. I’ll wait, since we can’t build any units right now, anyway.

IBT – We are now a Monarchy.

1550 (8) – Arabia is still offering the same deal. Should I accept it or not? And either way, I’ll have to choose a new tech to research. Do we want the Great Library, or the Great Lighthouse?

EDIT: Oh wait, I forgot Spain was Seafaring, so the Great Lighthouse may trigger our GA...we don't want one this early.

I'm not going to bother posting a save at this point. If you need one, tell me, though.

Sorry for the triple post:

Final Days of Pope Plisken I:

I decided to continue playing anyway. I had to leave soon, so I wouldn’t have been able to get the turns up until tomorrow if I didn’t finish now.

I chose to research Lit @ 70%, +5 gpt, and not make the trade with Arabia (for now, anyway).

IBT – Horses are hooked up.

1525 (9) – SWD temple->spear (may want to switch to a worker). BearishHunger temple->spear (ditto). Rome now has HBR. Since Arabia and Rome are the only ones I can trade Monarchy to, I decide to take the deals.

Trade Arabia Monarchy for Math and 132 gold.
Trade to Rome for HBR.

Increase sci to 90%, Lit due in 7, -5 gpt. We have 151 gold.

IBT – Seville’s borders expand.

1500 (10) – nothing, really.

After realizing how horrible Monarchy was for the peasant--but how wealthy it made the king!--Pope Plisken I was assassinated and his throne was usurped by Pope Goes-The-Weasel II (I believe).

Sorry, no pic. I'm kind of in a hurry. :)

the weasel is known in history as a very cunning animal.
it was this namesake that the immortal pope has taken for hinself, in a self congratulating manner after the very succsessful assasination of plisken I.

got it

BO3 sw 1500bc-1175bc

preturn - ok. we have only 2 workers? will fix that.

1- Seville curragh > curragh, Santiago spear > temple,
nodeals to be made we are WAY ADAVANCED.
move diago's spear after the roaming settler.
move curragh into the med sea on the south shore (towards arabs, egypt and zulu?) planing to make a round trip and upgrade to a galley.
Jeronimo contiues his grand tour.

IBT willie kicks our spear for his land. why was he there anyway?

2- Madrid settler > settler,
worker goes to connect the DYES
settler misses his cue and walks straight into roman lands.

3- we apologisw to Julius.
SW's dream spear > worker, Murcia spear > temple,
Santiago is tres unhappy with the french so nearby, so i up thier taxed till the learn how to pray.

4- seville curragh > wealth, curragh heads into north europe.

5- SW's dream worker > rax, BearishHunger spear > spear,
settle Valencia > temple (we have furs there)
curragh meets Shaka. which has a worker for sale. i dont buy.
seville wealth > worker (on growth now)
lit is next so lower sci to 10 netting 33g.

6- Lit is in. as our landbound expansion phase seems to have hit a certain wall, i start on MM due in 8.
julius walks into our lands. i ask politely that he take a walk.
Madrid settler > settler,
KOREA GOT THE COLOSSUS
jeronimo is at palestine now. he meets a wierd old man that claims to have spoken with god. rubbish said jeronimo, god doesnt talk to mortals. wait and see young man, wait and see says the old man.

7- Sevvile worker > curragh,
just more moves.

8- Santiago temple > lib,
Bearish hunger now wants a taxman.

9- Madrid settler > settler, Sevvile curragh > cat (galley prebuild), BearshHunger spear > rax (fire taxman), Murcia temple > cat,
settler goes to Seville to join the galley.

10- moves.
decide to go one more, so i get MM and rearrange the builds.

11- MM is in. set for CURRENCY (no beakers invested yet)
SW's dream rax > spear,
meet the Vikings.

nobody has any cash, but feel free to try deals.
some are building the gardens,
do we want TGlib? i dont think we need it.
galleys will be ready in 3 turns. use them and the 2 settlers to colonise northen africa.

bo3_sw_83.jpg

Think it would be feasible to attack the furs just north? instead of settling on the spot, we could settle NE of the cow (N of the red dot) and culture bomb for the furs with our merry temple first.

About the south, good good spots, but prioritize the continental dots. We could, say, settle NW of the E-most red dot and then go for the african lands. Just a thought. GJ scouting and taking land

my choice to slow down on the continent is due to the fact that we have an empire that is beginning to look like a dagger.
that is lean and long.
point 1 - cities are starting to become too far away from our core to either support or defend.
i think we need to start using more agressive means of aquiring land.

point 2 - we have 2 settlers already in the east. with 2 more ready to board galleys.

i say use these two atleast to establish a beach-head on africa.

we could also use the galley to transport them quicker to the east if that is the teams choice.
