From what I saw on my turns, we were all set on workers. However I didn't think long term, so I'd have to review that judgement if we are to reach rails anytime soon.

We still are a monarchy, right? We might want to change that ASAP.
 
pre turn i see that we have 2 caravels and a galley.
if we want to go after cleo we need many more.
this seems to become yet another builder set.

the builds take some getting used too. if we remove from the list of projects the 2 spears, the musket and the odd harbour, all we are building are universities, cool :D

On a more serious note, we need to think of how we're gonna win this. The "two-island rule" I was not really aware of. This probably rules out a domination victory. 20k and 100k are both out of the question, leaving us with diplo,space,and conquest.

For diplo and space we need to ramp up our infrastructure as high as possible. If going for conquest, :eek: I would plan for going after a weak Civ asap.

Also, Newton's is building in the capital and I don't think we could beat the AI civs to it. It can be switched to a bank though.
 
the newton's build in the capital was a bank, i just switched it to see if our leader can change it. nothing wasted there, just didnt put the build back up.

Form an army is the thing to do, but don't fill it. I think that a conquest victory is the way to go, we're bad neigbours, but with only fish to fight it's less fun. So lets show open thinking, abstraction and ignore the oceans, saying that our neighbors are across the pool. :D See what I mean? Ever tried to explain the difference between a pool and an ocean to an idiot?

and i think that they DO touch our borders (as they all have the ability to caravel, it is just a great big pond right now.
 
@MP: 2-island rule is valid before Panzers only.
I think our best bet will be a military win, although we will need serious infra to keep up with the AI ... I must admit being torn between the possibilities at hand here.

We'll need to discuss a bit. Should we build infra like mad dogs and start going military only at Panzers ? That way we have a very large window of time to Republic it up and build full infrastructure to take advantage of our new research capacity. After that, commie and go roll over some badlands.
That's only my uneducated view of mid-long term stuff, because short term, something has to be done, monarchy is killing our economy, in so far as I can tell.

If we invest resources now in taking out Cleo, there is no point to keep the cities (because they island closer to us is more productive. Yet if we take her out, the other AI's will probably resettle the island so we'll have to take it over again anyway.

On the overall, I learn towards just developing infrastructure with all victory conditions in mind.

There's a caravel going north to get some units that are on an island.

One thing is that we're in Monarchy. I almost revolted but my turns took too long already so I just played. Republic/Democracy/Communism(soon) anyone?
 
If commie is within 20 turns, I'd wait for it, if not, Demo by all means. We'll have use for it. Got it, probably tomorrow night.
