B1 - Aztec Succession game

Welcome back Nanook :) Go ahead and take this turn, I will get it again after you, I haven't had a chance to actually start it yet.

Shadowlord go ahead and take it. I have more stuff popping up everyday that needs to be done. This house is starting to look less and less like a bargain and more and more like a Money Trap. remember that movie with Tom Hanks? Thats what I feel like right now.

I am sorry to hear that too :(

ok I got it

Lets see...just in the week I've been in here, I've had to replace the dryer, install a new water heater, and my shed blew over. One of the bedrooms was an illegal apartment, which needs to fixed up to a normal bedroom. The upstairs, legal, apartment needs to be cleaned and spruced up some before it can be rented out. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but you get the idea.

To be frank though, I knew about most of it. The water heater and dryer were somewhat surprising, but you have to expect things to not be perfect. Its just that before this I lived in the same house for almost 20 years, and its taking some getting used to. I'm sure in a week or so everything will feel more or less normal and things won't be so quick to get to me.

If Shdwlord doesnt show up with his turn by tomorrow morning, Nanook or Steve can go..

Come on guys! B2 is already done and we've made a great comeback in this one! :)

Sorry, thought that I had posted this already. Been a rough weekend here, my 16 month old got an ear infection thursday, has been running a fever all weekend, now it looks like he might have the chicken pox too. Kathie works 12 hour midnight shifts on the weekend, so I was pretty much watching my son alone, and he wasnt' sleeping more than 2 hours at a time.

Inherited: cancel alliance against rome, and offer peace to rome. They give us Viroconium. Transports loaded up and sent to claim former german cities now in the hands of the greeks.
Had to rush an infantry in viroconium, no defender placed in it when AI gives you a city.

1) 1854 French forces in our territory are surrounded by infantry, egyptian border blockaded by infantry.

2) 1856 Kuibyshev captured.
Trade embargo between Germany and Rome against us has ended.

3) 1858 many workers clean up much polution.

4) 1860 Leipzig captured. Heidelburg captured. Bonn captured.

5) 1862 Stuttgart captured.

I moved the leader to buffalo, might as well produce the UN in a hopelessly corrupt 1/1 city rather than wasting production from a useful city. Alliance with egypt against greece has 1 more turn, I will let the next leader decide if we should stay in monarchy and take out greece, or make peace and switch back to democracy, or even republic. If this were my own game, I would have started out making peace with greece, breaking the alliance with egypt, and taking out egypt, since that is where all of our tanks are. But now we have the option of buying an airport around Bonn, and taking out greece using their own rail system. Whether we stay at war with greece or not, I would end the alliance with egypt, as we are giving them rubber. Might as well stop egypt from being able to produce infantry.

I'm up in this game and Thrawn's random game. Going to play Thrawn's first as it's a standard map and not as far along as this one is. I'm hoping to get to this one in the next couple of hours.

EDIT: I'm going to play a few turns of this tonight and a few more tomorrow evening before posting. Expect a report in 24 hours.

Now Playing...

Steve-a-zuma IV came to the throne in the midst of a terrible problem. He could not communicate the wonders of his reign to his people as the global communications network was down (his advisors huddled together were heard mentioning something like "CivFanatics" along with a number of unprintable expletives).

Inherited Turn:
France and Rome end their trade embargo against us. And the people rejoiced.
Geeks capture Stuttgart - There was only one tank there for defence. And the people jumped up and down in a rage.
Steve announces to the world that it takes 2 minutes to go through all the enemy moves, despite having an Athlon 1800+ and 512MB. And the people stood there scratching their heads, as computers hadn't been invented yet.

(1) 1864AD
Steve-a-zuma immediately orders an attack on Stuttgart, and it is recaptured from the Geeks. Just to rub it in, the tanks are sent onto Dortmund, and that too is captured. And there is much rejoicing throughout the land.
A scroll is unearthed by a messenger, it contains the final words of the deceased Lord of Shadow. Following his suggestions, I "diplomatically negotiate" the cancellation of the peace treaty, military alliance and export of rubber to Egypt, and declare war on them.
I don't think I've ever seen so many tanks in one game.
We lose a couple of tanks in the Geek counter-attack, but all cities are held. And the people bite their nails waiting for the next move.

(2) 1866AD
Fill up several transports with tanks. I plan to land these to the east as a second front against Egypt. OK, so they're hopelessly outnumbered anyway, but I need to get some "real" warmongering practise in.
Another 15+ tanks complete this turn. And a battleship. And the people rejoice!
Lots of pollution appears. And the people get sick.

(3) 1868AD
Apollonia captured from the Geeks.
Sicyon captured from the Geeks.
Bombard Birmingham with five battleships. All of them fail to hit.
I discuss peace terms with Alexander. As part of the deal I get Amphibious Warfare, all of his treasury (a measly 96 gold) and an alliance against Egypt. And the people rejoice again.

(4) 1870AD
Offload three transports full of tanks outside Byblos to provide a second front against the Egyptions.
HUGE stacks of tanks outside two other Egyption cities, poised to strike next turn.
A bored French worker is railroading our land. He's about the only one not rejoicing.
At least 10 cities hit size 6. All switched to Aquaduct so the people can get back to making babies.

(5) 1872AD
Alexandria captured. 1 stinking resistor is there. I give him a bath.
Avaris captured. Another stinking resistor gets a bath.
Germany and Egypt sign a trade embargo. Germany goes to the top of my hit-list.
LMAO as Egypt attacks my stacks of fortified infantry in our newly captured cities with KNIGHTS?? Geeze, we exported rubber to them for 20 turns, and I have yet to see a single infantry.
One of our battleships strays into Geek territory. Alexander's response is pretty amusing - maybe a few Egyptions snuck onto our navy...

(6) 1874AD
Hieraconpolis captured. More smelly Egyptions.
Memphis captured.
Buto captured.
Pi-Ramesses captured.
Pillage Egyption oil and horses. The people rejoice!
GeekLand is mopping up Egyption troops for us, while we get all the cities. LMAO.

(7) 1876AD
Pillage Egyption iron. I don't think they have anything else left. I shudder at the thought of them coming at us with longbowmen.
Thebes is captured with the loss of one tank and the gain of Shakespeare's Theater. I decided to attack after bombarding down to size 10 and noting that the best defenders were Riflemen. Didn't want them to draft the city into permanent unhappiness. They had seemingly endless defenders, fortunately we had endless tanks outside the city.
The Egyptian capital moves to Asyut. It goes the same way as Thebes, but is size 6 and therefore doen't have the defense bonus.
Hmm... Now where did the capital go? Aaah. Giza. It goes the same way as Thebes and Asyut.
Capital jumps to Abydos. We capture it. This is FUN!!
Rome and Egypt sign a peace teaty. Not that it matters much.
The people rejoice as the smelly, resisting Egyptions are sent to the sheep dip.

(8) 1878AD
Edfu (yep, new capital) is captured.
Spearman knocks two points of our tank at Elephantine before he succumbs. Elephantine is captured, and we receive the Great Lighthouse for our trouble.
El-Amarna is captured, and the smelly, resisting Egyptions are expelled from our continent. They have two cities left on an island. The people rejoice!
I notice we can still get fission in 1 turn at 10% science, and net 396 gold.
I move a bunch of tanks to Seaside. We have a transport being completed there next turn, and this'll be used to kill off the two remaining Egyption cities.
Fission is researched. Computers started for Mech Infantry. We'll be invincible once we get those. The people rejoice!
One source of coal exhausted and the people are annoyed, as many coal miners line up at the local Social Security.

(9) 1880AD
Hmm... Where on Earth is Buffalo? I need that leader. OK, Found him. Switch Tlacopan to United Nations, bring the leader over, and rush-build.
Load transport at Seaside with tanks, and head to the island with the last two Egyption cities.
United Nations completed. Hmm... Now do I want to hold elections? Umm... Bismark is annoyed, Alexander is furious... umm... Nope.

(10) 1882AD
Try to goad Bismark into declaring war by demanding cities. He is now furious.

(11) 1884AD
Build more infantry. I am stacking them by Buto in preparation for the assault on Germany.
Our transport drops off 8 tanks to take the last two Egyption cities.

(12) 1886AD
Egypt and Geekland sign a peace treaty. Why bother. War is FUN!!
Stupid Geeks declare war on us. They will pay dearly. I figure we might as well trample Germany beneath the treads of our tanks on the way over there, but leave the actual declaration of war for the next leader.

(13) 1888AD
Mendes is captured.
Jerusalem is captured. Oh dear, what happened to the once-proud nation of Egypt??

...so I will stop at this point and give the next leader the glory of destroying the Germans and/or the Geeks.
Large stacks of Infantry and Tanks near Buto.
Loads more tanks and infantry stacked up in the conquered Egyption cities. They were guarding against culture flips.

With the forums being down I had a little more time on my hands. Wasn't too noticable was it?

Have fun!!

Just had a look at the game..

We are doing well.. Looks like lots of war for me.. :D

How come Babylon is so rich.. they ofer 1110 gold plus 70 gpt for Radio! Thats gonna be hard to pass up considering we are poor!

I'll play tomorrow or on the weekend..

Preturn:
Radio to Babs for 1110 gold and 92gpt! This was too good to pass up!

11gpt and 110 gold from England for Radio

France: 62gpt and 110 gold!
Rome is too poor..
Germany will offer a good chunk of change but I'm about to invade them ;)

I establish spies in Greece and Germany. Greece has 43 Marines and 97 infantry!!

Decisions decisions.. Germany will ally against Greece with us.. What to do, what to do.. ally and let Greece pound Germany into almost nothing? or crush them ourselves?

Heck, we can't lose at this point.. I ally against Greece, sell Germany Radio too.. this will put them closer to Panzers, but probably too late for it to do them any good after the Greeks pound them!

We sell the Germans one of each of our excess luxuries for 28gpt..

Err.. let them have Motorized Transport too, they don't have Oil or Rubber! But I dont give them MT.. let them suffer.. :flamedevi

I find Greek troops marching through Germany.. not for long. Ouch, one of them killed a Regular tank withoout so much as a scratch.. hope they concentrate on hitting the Germans..

I destroy a Marine attack force near Sicyon, at a cost of a few injured tanks. Lots more where they came from!

1890:
England and Germany sign an MPP.. England declares war on the Greeks! (This is better than I hoped)

25 Greek Marines show up on Sicyon's doorstep!

I move the bulk of our army (and I mean bulk!) down to face the puny Greek forces. Bombers pound the marines to soften them up.

1892:
Our armies chew up the Marines, but there are still several left. They are all damaged and I expect they will run for cover in their turn. Bombers and artillary again soften them up.

1894:
As expected the wimpy Greek Marines run away. Our troops move into Greek territory.

1896:
France and England sign an MPP!
A stack of Greek marines kill off a small stack of our tanks, at a cost of ALL the marines!

1898:
I take Tegea and Amiens. Amiens has Saltpeter and Rubber, but unfortunately the Greeks have this in abundance anyway.

1900:
We move in for the kill. 3 army groups head in towards the nearest Greek cities.

Another stack of Marines moves near Amiens.

1902:
Gortyn and New Thermopolae fall.

I trade Fission for Rocketry with Babylon. We are going for Domination. Let them keep up in tech. I want cruise missiles!

Rome wants an MPP sure if it brings them into the war with Greece.

1904:
Rome declares war on Greece!
Babs are building the Manhattan Project! I immediately start it in Delhi, and make a note to stay on very good terms with them.

The good news: we took over New Knossos. The bad news: Greece now has tanks. 17 of them.

1906:
The good news:
The Greeks moved a huge stack of tanks within range of our artillary/bombers/cruise missles.. awww.. too bad for them..

1908:
Joanie wants a MPP. I decline but give her a fur to soothe her feelings

We complete Computers! Start Nuclear Power. We now can build Mech infantry!

We get a Great Leader! He is near Ephesus, with the large army..

On the down side, Ephesus holds off our attack, despite beating it down with artillary!

Marathon falls! I stand corrected, I thought I was out of units.. Ephesus falls!

The fall of Ephesus opens up the territory.. we can move at will into the Greek core!

Well, thats it for me. Lee gets to finish off the Greeks again!

Deja Vu at all? :)

I hope the game can post.. I'll try it.

Me suspects Greece is to big to finish in this one ;)

I'm sure you are right.. but we have enough military to hurt them really bad..:D

We can't be far from Domination..

Some military notes:
There is a stack of (empty)transports making its way past the old American lands towards Greece.. and another going towards the tip of Russia (one is full). Could be used to take out the Greek Island colonies.

Our large force of battleships are finally back in position to hurt the Greek ships harassing the Moscow coast.

With the number of units we have, our production capabilities and the fleets of transports we can open up 1 or 2 more fronts in the next 10 turns or so..

Most of the world is allied with us. Babylon is quite powerful despite being so small. They started the Manhattan Project before anyone else. Ours is in Delhi as mentioned before. I didn't ally with Babylon, so that may be a good idea. Up to you. Be nice to Babylon we dont need any :nuke: at our back door!

Germany is still alive. I think the ROP with them (10 turns left) was the way to go. If I had spent my turn taking them out, Greece would have had time to get that much stronger. Germany is fighting with Cavalry.. We could be generous and give them Oil/Rubber, allowing them to bring Panzers into play.. I didn't want to do that though..

Germany's current contribution to the war was to send some Longbowmen down, have them quickly slaughtered, and head back up to Germany! Greece was too busy fighting us to attack Germany.

As noted in my summary, Greece has Tanks. They seem to be producing 8/turn or so, which quickly die against our massive army. Our losses are more than offset by new production. Greece has not shown any Air units yet. They must be fairly far from Rocketry then.. (as long as no other civ trades with them..hint hint) (not to mention Nukes, Mech Infantry etc)

One final option.. make peace (after 10 turns), switch to Democracy and have a Space race with Babylon.. :) Although I think the war is coming along nicely..

Have fun! I'm looking forward to General Lee's summary!
