B1 - Aztec Succession game

We are at peace with everyone again, but we do get tanks soon 9 turns to take out Russia completely, not too bad for a game we almost quit

No kidding! Good job! :goodjob:

Hmmm....
I guess you realized what I what thinking with that comment.

Russia :die!:

:goodjob:

Well, I have wanted to kill them ever since war weariness stopped the first war after I captured St. Petersburg. I hated giving up the dyes to Egypt for free, but I fortified the cities on the egyptian border with a few extra infantry, so the russian cossacks were just pillaging our terrain. And there were so many egyptian knights in the area. A few of our infantry and cavalry got involved, but for the most part, they were blitzing through Russian territory. I switched most of the cities producing cavalry and infantry to artillery at the end of the war, the artillery we had could barely find cities to target with the speed of the cavalry. If I remember right, the Iroquois have no rubber, so no infantry. Hmmmm, the possibilities

Gee,
It looks like all those factories I build will be pumping out war material.

Will there be anything left of the world by the time it gets back to me

I am really not up to another 5 hour marathon like the other Aztec game where I killed Greece.

Of course, LK14 is in war right now ...
I am starting to kill the Aztecs - gee, cossacks versus Jaguars is a fair battle, isn't it :p

And Steve-a-zuma takes the throne for the next thrilling installment...

Inherited turn:
We have a number of cities which contain entertainers despite the fact that everyone is content or happy. Luxury tax is 10% - I drop this to zero and add 10% to research, bringing Mass Production in 4 turns instead of 5. A little micromanagement...

Moscow - Two entertainers put back to work.
Dehli - One entertainer put back to work.
Tenochtitlan - One entertainer put back to work.
Kiev - One entertainer (the ONLY citizen there) put back to work.
Minsk - Two entertainers put back to work.
Philadelphia - Two entertainers put back to work.
Calixtlahuaca - Two entertainers put back to work.
SteveVille - Three entertainers put back to work.
Karachi - Three entertainers put back to work.
Tblisi - One entertainer put back to work.
Atzacapotzalco - FOUR(!) entertainers put back to work. The fifth(!!) had to stick to entertaining.
Whaletown - Two entertainers put back to work.
Yakutsk - Two entertainers put back to work.
Kahnawake - FOUR(!) entertainers put back to work.
Novgorod - One entertainer put back to work.
Fishtown - One entertainer put back to work.
Ganges - One entertainer put back to work.

Gold goes from negative to +38 per turn. Production in some cities is upped by more than 20%. Some outlying cities are allowed to keep their entertainers in order to induce WLTK days. Since we are heading towards Motorized Transport, I begin to build up stacks of Artillery and Infantry prior to getting Motorized Transport.

(1) 1776AD
To keep track of my military, I begin stacking Cavalry in Steveville, Artillery in Calixtlahuaca and Infantry in Texcoco. I check the Foreign Advisor and see that we have 10 turns left on our ROP with Iroquois. I also begin to deal with the chronic over-irrigation around some cities to help prevent a population-induced pollution epidemic.

(2) 1778AD
I switch delhi around so that it's production is 82 per turn. We can crank out an artillery or infantry EVERY turn now. Greece and Iroquois sign a peace treaty. Damn! I hoped they'd keep all their troops over there while I decimate their cities. Hopefully they still have that MPP with the Romans.

(3) 1780AD
More irrigated plains converted to mines. Population is far worse for pollution than production. Russian Railroading project in full swing. Planning to get those workers back into Aztec lands before the ROP with Iroquois runs out. We learn Mass Production. Hmm... thinks... Motorized Transport... Tanks... Iroquois lands... Belong to us... hmm...

(4) 1782AD
Clean pollution, more railroading, change more irrigation to mines.

(5) 1784AD
Pollution is becoming a problem, but is easily managable. I rush temples all over the former Russian lands to lock in borders. Greece want an MPP. I refuse, but give them a territory map. I fire the Domestic Advisor for even thinking of suggesting that we build a SWORDSMAN, let alone coming out with the suggestion!

(6) 1786AD
Lots of cities go onto wealth as there is little else to build. Now running 70% science at a deficit to get Motorized transportation in 3 turns.

(7) 1788AD
(8) 1790AD
We get Motorized Transport. Begin Flight.

(9) 1792AD
Drop science to 60%. I begin cranking out tanks wherever possible. Rome and Greece sign a peace treaty. The first tank rolls off the production line at Delhi, which is cranking out 110 shields per turn. All workers being fortified in Tenochtitlan as they finish their projects. The only thing they'll be needed for is pollution cleanup.

(10) 1794AD
Another turn, another 10 tanks.

(11) 1796AD
Watching what seems to be a military buildup of Iroquois troops around Karachi. I hope they declare war.

(12) 1798AD
(13) 1800AD
Summary at end of turn:
23 Artillery in calixtlahuaca.
40+ Infantry in Texcoco.
40+ cavalry in SteveVille.
25 tanks in Tlacapan.

(14) 1802AD
(15) 1804AD
I ask Hiawatha for Chondote as tribute. He rejects it. We learn flight. Start radio.

(16) 1806AD
I ask Hiawatha again for Chondote. He is insolent, and as a result finds himself in a war. Maunch Chunk is captured and lost in the same turn, as I stupidly forget to garrison it with infantry. Grrrr! A couple of our outlying cities are taken by the Iroquois. No worries, we'll get them back in time.

(17) 1808AD
We take Tonawanda, connecting our empire and the former Russian lands. Maunch Chunk is retaken by our troops. This time I make sure I garrison it. St Regis is captured. Rome signs an MPP with Iroqouis. Riots quelled everywhere, although I'm just clicking "Give 'em entertainment" when the disorder pop-ups come up. No cities are taken by the Iroquois. Rome is at war with us due to MPP.

(18) 1810AD
I call up Cleo and get her to declare war on our Roman warmongers for 280 gold. We take Grand River. Mowed down an iroquois stack of at least ten units with no losses. Mowed down at least another 20 that were wandering in our borders. We get a great leader - he is fortified in Tenochtitlan. Iroqouis declare war on Egypt (probably due to MPP with Rome kicking in). War weariness is becoming very oppressive, and I decide to revolt to Monarchy while our war rages on.

(19) 1812AD
I notice that the Iroquois attacks are getting more and more feeble. And conscripts are beginning to appear. This is always a sign that the opposition is running out of steam. Iroquis and France sign a trade embargo against us. Iroquois and Germany sign a trade embargo against us.

(20) 1814AD
We capture Centralia
We capture Caughnawaga.
We capture Akwesasne.
We capture Salamanca. The Iroquois capitol has moved to Niagra Falls.

Notes:
(1) Looks like the bulk of the Iroquois attack force has been killed off. The only significant force remains around Philadelphia, and has been held off there by our heroic Infantry. As the Daleks would say... "Exterminate... Exterminate..."
(2) We have a Great Leader stored in Tenochtitlan. We also have a million workers of varied nationalities stored there too.
(3) I revolted to Monarchy to assist the war effort. I hope that was a good decision.

:goodjob:

I've been wanting to take out the Iroquois the whole game, and now it looks like I'll be able to! :D

Preturn:
 I didn't realize the Iroquois had taken out America already! Brianzuma declares that he will liberate all American cities from the evil Iroquois!

I hardly recognize the place! Big changes. Holy Clear-cut Batman!

General Brianzuma takes control of the Aztec empire as General Stevazuma of some place called Arizona retires.

He overlooks the empire and is puzzled. Are the huge armies of cavalry in Steveville wasted? Could they be used to blitz, er liberate, another Iroquois city?

I hear Niagara Falls is lovely this time of year. I send our Cavalry down to check it out. Even lovelier in green, instead of that purple colour. Only lost 1 cavalry!

How many units do you need to stop the culture flip? Niagara should have enough.. :D

Germany and Rome have signed a trade embargo against us!

1816:
An Ironclad sinks our Ironclad!

Our cavalry destroy Oiogouen! (Autoraze)

1818:
The Iroquois request an audience. Brianzuma ignores them.

We capture a settler guarded by an archer!

Cattaragus falls to our mighty tanks!

Brianzuma is in the mood for a San Francisco treat.. We liberate San Fransisco!

At least one of the citizens is happy to see us, still American! :)
The greeks land cavalry near Keiv?

1820:
Babylon wants Dyes for 29gpt.. Sure..

1822:
France and Rome have signed an embargo against us!

I bombard Allegheny down from 9 to 5! That had to hurt..

Oil Springs falls to our cavalry. Allegheny falls to our tanks.

St Louis is lovely this time of year. We visit it with tanks. The lone citizen is American and welcomes our troops!

Our cavalry captures Oka!

1824:
The Greeks declare war on us!

The Egyptians want Rubber to ally against Greece. OK. The Germans want Flight.. I reject them. They probably would get wiped out anyway.

1826:
Greece takes Avaris and Alexandria with Cavalry! This has got to be stopped! We now have a 2 front war.. I see your 8 cavalry and raise you 8 tanks!

We take back Avaris. I may even give it back to Egypt. Cleo is kinda cute and a good ally :)

Tanks atack twice.. cool. One tank takes out 2 cavalry. I can see 2 stacks of 10 and 15 or so cavalry!

The moon over Miami is lovely this time of year.

Gandasetaigon is 'liberated'.

Rebase bombers to Karachi. Gee, I'd hate to see those huge stacks all be reduced to 1hp each.. wouldn't that be a shame?

Ganogeh and Gewauga fall to our tanks.

Gayagaahe falls to our tanks.

Oh yeah, we take Hannover.

1828:
Greek and Iroquois navies are harrassing our shorelines. Time to do something about this.

We offer Egypt her cities back, plus a ROP and she 'would never accept such a deal' Silly AI. We give her her cities anyway..

We meet Hiawatha in his 'capital' of Detroit. Forgot to tell him we were bringing tanks.. oops..

We take Kente.

I try to make peace with the Iroquois so I can concentrate on Greece, but they are not being reasonable. The war continues.

New York, New Yorn, the city so nice, they named it twice. We take a bite out of the Big Apple.

We take Goiguen. Thats the last of the silly 'G' named cities.

1830:
I spend some of our hard earned cash to buy 2 battleships. I'm sick of Greek wooden ships pounding my coast!

Cleo asks us to remove our troops.. last time I give her back her cities! In fact I might just keep Byblos..

1832:
The Greek Frigates raiding our Russian coast get a nasty shock, as battleships steam out of Kiev and Odessa.

I visit Hiawatha in Atlanta. Oops, brought my friends this time too..

We liberate Buto from the Greeks!

Chicago you're my kinda town..

1834:
Aww.. our little battleships scared away the greek navy..
Hmm a stack of 16 cavalry near Buto. now they are a stack of 1hp cavalry..

I have a craving for Buffalo wings.

We are invited to a tea party in Boston.

We take Kiohero.

I'm getting tired, so rename a few cities to keep myself amused.

1836:
Finally we learn Radio! Now I can listen to all those rocking big bands.. We enter the modern age.

1838:
Athribis was taken back by the Greeks!

Houston, we have a problem, well, the Iroquois have a problem..

Brianzuma and wife rent Sleepless in Seattle.

A tank kills an archer. Is that a fair fight?

1840 AD:
I can't think of anything funny to say about Baltimore.. It got autorazed..

1842:
Dallas.. Can't think of anything funny here. except we now own it..

Neodakheat falls.. One city left. Oops, 2 cities.. one on an island..

Thats it for me. Our armies will crush the last continental Iroquois city next turn, then we can go full guns at Greece.. We will need transports, both to take out the last Iroquois city and to launch a major invasion of Greece.

Sorry about the mess.. I didn't do too much infrastructure. I've been playing for 4 hours or so.. didnt quite meet Lee's turn in B2. we are still in Monarchy and have a very pathetic science rate..

A transport is fully loaded and near Byblos I think.

Good luck!

The Americans, the Russians, and the Iroquois are all dead?

How about this? We play one more round, if it still looks hopeless, we drop it

Later, if someone wants to play it out on their own for the challenge, they could post updates. A few of us may be more interested in that than keeping it as a succession game.

Suggestion: We could play this one on our own (whoever feels like it) and posts the results as they go and when they finish. Treat it like a GOTM. I'd like to see one or more of us pull it out of the gutter.

Is it too late to change my vote? :smoke: Just kidding

Great job in pulling out a game that everyone had almost given up on :goodjob:

Well....

I still had better confindence then most ...

Very true, you said that we could pull something out, you just hated the start we had. Maybe we should look for bad starting positions all the time ;)

I'm glad we kept going too.. although if I had known we would keep going I wouldnt have started B2 so early!

Looks like both B1 and B2 may finish at the same time.. both seem near completion.

So, who votes we take out Greece? :D

Didn't I already do that?

Oops, that was the other game ;)

I won't have a post until tommorrow.

LK15 took a while, as war started sooner than planned.

I have been at this over 1/2 hour, and haven't finished one turn.
I have at least one thing I want to complete before handing the game over.

One piece of news worth sharing -

Amazing what you can build when you are willing to disband out of date cannons / calvary :D

I am still playing

Preturn -
We never established an embassy with France - we have now.
Victory plan is obvious, domination.
I switch many cities to temple, and rush a few. Cash = $1043.
Wake workers in the capital, send them to Dallas. Speed up production by destroying forest.

1844 AD - Oil City formed. Closes a big border gap, and pressure on that annoying french city.
Cincinnati is captured.
Temple rushed from forrest at Dallas and Owego.
Killed some of those annoying Greece ships.
1846 AD - No real action outside of killing more of those annoying Greek ships.
1848 AD - Bunch of DEAD Greek calvary shows up by Byblos.
Dnep captured from Greece, sink a ship in port. I see another target.
Chop a temple for Seattle, Neod...
The Iroquios are toasted - I begin stripping excess troops from there cities.
1850 AD - The greeks ships come back out to play, and 3 dead frigates.
Greeks land a bunch of DEAD calvary by Dnep.
FillerCity is formed, another big block is closed.
Chop a temple out in Cincinnatti - much of our work force in fortifying again.
Our cultural influence is expanding :)
Buto flips to Egypt - several units lost
1852 AD - The scum French are trying to settle former American lands, I form biteme by there stack of settlers. Guess which temple will get rushed, 3 forest squares are cleared. In continuing with the theme, I form a wall of workers around there units.

Summary -
The horrible news - we are stuck in Monarchy until peace with Greece.
Gack - I hate that production level.

Most of our junk cities (1/1) are producing wealth.

Built a lot of airports - Gee airlift to Greece?

You have 6 transports, 4 escorts by Bengal - USE THEM!

I don't know what is going on with nanook,
but you are up next shdwlord.

Give Greece the gift I set you up with ...

Sort of. The move went smooth, only one issue really. One of my cats disappeared the day of the move, but he eventually showed up and he's fine now. I finally got my router up and running earlier today and my cable modem is running sweet on it. I still have some unpacking and things to do, but I am available to play whenever my turn comes around again.
