Bad scientists: you have given bad info on global warming

Oh, I will. I'll admit my mistake. When I make one. Don't hold your breath.

I've been arguing politics in Internet forums since 9600 baud was considered fast. I've had so much practice, I don't make mistakes on Internet forums any more. Except typos.

However, I did discover a mistake or two made by Albert Einstein. That's the caliber of person you're arguing against here. I'm way out of your division.

The 2012 "Most Arrogant Internet Poster" - Prize goes to .... BasketCase! No further contenders need apply this year - you can't top that!

Are you trying to say that you're delusional but the rest of us are even madder and stupider than you?

Please Basketcase, tell us more about these mistakes of Einstein that you discovered. I'm genuinely excited!

"So BasketCase, congratulations on winning this award. I believe this is the 7th year in a row you've won it? 8th? 6th?"

It's supposed to impress you specifically. I've discovered a mistake by Einstein (specifically when he was studying the structure of the universe) and you have not.

Though, if you read through his theories on the expanding, contracting, or static universe, you might figure it out too. What did he do wrong, and why?

You should not make assumptions about other people, who might have working against Einsteins theories and beliefs in their job description.

"I'm smarter than REAL scientists who have spent their entire careers studying global warming whilst i repeat what people like Glenn Beck say, you bloody peasants"

You have to admit Einstein failed to take into account the size of BasketCase's ego when calculating whether the universe would continue to expand or not.

BasketCase's ego is the source of all the Dark Matter in the universe? Wow, and I thought Dark Matter wasn't quite that massive.

I thought that ego was energy, not mass. :(

Would I be out of line if I asked what happened to the 2010 and 2011 awards?
Sitting proudly on my mantlepiece. :king: Alongside the 1999 Smartass Of The Year award, the 2004 and 2007 "I Told You So" trophies, and my 2014 Psychic of the Year award.

I was briefly tempted to make a joke along the lines of "this was my best threadjack ever" but I wasn't intending to do a hijack and therefore can't take credit for it. :)

Here's what Einstein did wrong: he discovered a problem with his relativity equations--a problem that seemed to predict an expanding universe. So he postulated a value called the "cosmological constant" to compensate for that; the cosmological constant would produce a static, nonexpanding universe. His mistake was in the fact that there was no evidence, anywhere, that the cosmological constant actually existed; Einstein didn't like the idea of an expanding universe. He wanted a static universe, so he went looking for a way to make the numbers work the way he wanted. Without any actual evidence to support it.

This actually has a great deal to do with global warming, because a bunch of today's global warming alarmists (including several of you guys) are doing the same thing. Some people want global warming to be real, so they go looking for evidence to support it. Or flat-out making it up. And they ignore evidence to the contrary.

Which is what a bunch of you are doing. The most recent example is Ziggy's screw-up: he went pointing out that the box core taken from the Sargasso Sea only showed that, during the Medieval Warm Period, the ocean was 1 degree warmer than today in the Sargasso Sea. Ziggy's mistake is two-fold: first, that's not what the web site actually says. It says that a box core taken from the Sargasso Sea showed that ocean temperatures were a degree warmer, but does not specifiy the Sargasso Sea only. So no, we can't assume that. And the other half of Ziggy's mistake is that the ocean was a degree warmer than today, even if only locally, DURING MEDIEVAL TIMES. Pretty please, could somebody explain to me how medieval humans could have caused that??? Spare me. The Sargasso box core shows that today's ocean warming can be explained by natural causes, because they did happen naturally during medieval times.

There are other examples in here, but that one will do fine. There are a bunch of problems with global warming theory, and a bunch of you are ignoring them. Kudos to those of you who are not. However, upon further reflection, if I give any names of people who are doing it right, I would probably be doing more harm than good because my endorsement is kind of similar to an endorsement by George Bush. Just that people don't hate me quite that much.

So. Volcanos and breathing, hey?

Or other sources you don't know about. Here's one you have almost certainly never heard of: the "Champagne Vent" in the Marianas Trench. It belches nearly-pure carbon dioxide. Liquid carbon dioxide. And here's the real surprise: the vent in the Marianas is not the only liquid-CO2 vent.

Don't take my word for it. Look it up. And then reflect on how many CO2 sources exist that you don't know about. I'll cut you some slack here, though, because you didn't know that you didn't know about them......

Of course we don't hate you that much, we hate you more. Come on, you don't think we'd pass up giving you the "CFC Most Hated" award for 2011, right? :)

OMG, have you told the scientists about this?!

Uhh, yes, you obviously did pass it up because I don't have the damn trophy. Gimme my trophy. NOW. :gripe:

OMG, have you told the scientists about this?!
Of course. I'm the one who discovered it. Deep sea dive, East Pacific Rise, 1977. The question is, did YOU know about it?
