Balanced Civ Lineup for TSL?

There will always be a eurocentric bias in the choice of civilizations. The exercise we're doing here is to try and guess which civilizations will most probably be chosen to achieve a better TSL balance, in spite of the eurocentric bias.

This too is also correct.

1: China - confirmed
2: America - confirmed
3: Egypt - confirmed
4: Japan - confirmed
5: India - all but confirmed due to use of perennial series mascot, Mohandas Gandhi, in announcement trailer
6: Mongolia - listed as confirmed by Arioch, while I don't know the source Arioch has a very good track record
7: Rome
8: England/Britain
9: France
10: Russia
11: Germany
12: Greece
13: The Ottomans
14: Persia
15: Siam/Vietnam/Khmer
16: Mali
17: Madgascar (Speculative hopeful to replace Zulu)
18: Aztecs
19: Haida/Salish/Chinook
20: Brazil/Tupi
21: Inca
22: Indonesia/Majapahit

The Aztecs, lead by Montezuma, are also confirmed; Ed Beach spoke of them in an interview. Seeing as the Zulu are a civ 5 fan favorite, and Shaka has been in most civ games, their staying seems likely as well. I agree that Mongolia is likely; Khan has been in every civ game thus far to my knowledge, and he did rule the largest continuous land empire in history.

Just gunna throw it out there that i'll be super disappointed if we only get 20ish civs, and 15+ are the usual suspects ever so slightly re-hashed. Apart from Ghandi's India, I feel like no leader or civ should be safe for the base game. It has enough legitimate claim to the word now through its previous incarnations and the big mans name on the box to command respect without needing all the classic civs.

Or at least i hope they do release plentiful DLC civs for us to pick up at 75% off in the steam winter sales :goodjob:

Just imagine when Firaxis have only Roman, Franks and Russia in Europe while other continent have the like of Mali, Kongo, Kilwa, Mughals, Khazars, Maori and various interesting people, and then England, France, Germany, America, Spain and Portugal was sold as DLC.

Imagine how many will left to appreciate their ideal balance while mobs of former-fan set Firaxis headquarter on fire. :p

maybe since they had mali in iv and songhai in v, we might be getting ghana in civ 6?

By Ghana you mean the Awkar Empire? Ghana was the title given to their emperors, not the name of the country although it's a very common mistake.

Unless you mean modern Ghana but that seems spectacularly unlikely.

Edit for those who don't know: The Awkar Empire was basically the big shot pre-Islamic empire in West Africa. They were around for about 800 years or so before eventually getting usurped by Mali who in turn fell to Songhai.
