[Vanilla] Base Game Patch Notes (February 2018)

Any news on map generation and civ spawn points. Really getting sick of serially restarting the game.
 
Rework start position algorithm to spread major powers evenly across the map first and then insert city-states in the margins. Results in improved distances between Civilizations and better quality for major civ start positions.
I just started a new game and had the French and Aztecs close enough that I met them before even finding the first barb camp. Shortly after that I met the Russians. The Aztecs were very close to the French (around 5-6 tiles). The French were less than 10 tiles from me. This was on standard sized continents map, standard speed, emperor difficulty.

By turn 69 I had captured Paris because France DoW'd me, but I still hadn't found any CS. I'd say this rework needs a rework. The major powers aren't spread out, but the CS's are, so it seems the code is working opposite of what it says.

This is NOT in the patch.
 
Does the patch break old save games? I do have one still ongoing game of Civ 6, but I probably can't continue it since I was using Real Tech Tree mod and Moar units mod.
 
Am I crazy, or did they remove drag scrolling?
I used to left-click drag to scroll the map, and with new patch I can't. Or am I missing something?

Edit: CQUI definitely won't work with the new match, will have to wait for mod update.

Maybe CQUI?

Do you have CQUI enabled? It's definitely breaking stuff post-patch.

I'm wondering if the patch is actually live yet after all, or whether it's downloaded correctly for some at least - what people are reporting aren't bugs so much as indications that there has been no change at all to the game. I haven't had a download notification on my own Steam.
 
Why are so many parts of the patch notes written as if they were a to-do list rather than a patch note?

  • Make sure losing Kandy as an ally doesn’t interfere with the Reliquaries belief.

There's a lot of examples of this weird style of writing that I wouldn't expect from Firaxis.
 
Science per pop seems to be something like 0.66666...
I’m getting 0.6 from 1 pop, 1.3 from 2 pop and 2 from 3 pop.

They were probably cut and paste from various communications between programmers and the QA team.
 
The change to bombard and ranged units vs naval units reminds me of the way combat works in Gazebos Community patch. I wonder if someone at Firaxis is a fan of that mod.
