[Vanilla] Base Game Patch Notes (February 2018)

You're also geting 0.1, so the math is only off by 0.1
True, but if you look at it, the total is the same as before the patch. While the science per pop is 0.6 in the image, it should be 0.5 (was 0.7 prior to the patch). So the changes seem to be done a bit careless or the patch notes are not correct for this.

I had no notification, did not notiuce the changes at first... it was GOTM though.. will try a real game

I'm having trouble working out how to identify when changes were made to the files, but checking Browse Local Files tells me the base and debug files have been updated today. Could be some bug somewhere that's preventing patch changes taking effect?

Undocumented Change:

The new 'natural wonder camera' is in it, meaning that when you stumble upon a natural wonder the camera zooms and pans around it. Looks beautiful.

are you able to ESC out of it before it finishes?

They were probably cut and paste from various communications between programmers and the QA team.

Oh so it's okay to consolidate the notes and with neither the QA lead and lead programmer actually reading and checking the notes to make sure they read like a professional document.

I've been in situations when I was working with much smaller video game studios with a lead time of maybe one hour to get patch notes consolidated and it doesn't take much time to make sure the notes are written like a cohesive document.

So I know it appears like making a mountain out of a molehill, but it just comes across as shoddy and unprofessional.

I'm going to be immensely disappointed if the start algorithm isn't working. Not being jammed up against neighbors or constantly forward settled was the feature I was most looking forward to in this update.

Anyone else notice that Australia has a color palette swap? They used to be orange & cream, and now are a green & black color scheme.

I'm still really bummed by this change. I liked the orange and white and I dislike the green and black, so it's a double whammy for me.

My Base Assets changed over a period of time roughly 2-3 hours ago

My dll's seem to not have been done

Yeah, it's definitely not 0.5.

About the placement, I went with small map with default civs and city states and placement seems to work correctly.

Science per pop seems to be something like 0.66666...
I’m getting 0.6 from 1 pop, 1.3 from 2 pop and 2 from 3 pop.
Just tried an information era start: 13 pop city gives 9 science for population, meaning ~0.692 science per pop.

I just booted up a new game in the Information Age and I was getting 9 science from a 13 pop city, so yeah that's definitely not 0.5. Looks more like 0.7

Isn't science per pop just a setting in GlobalParameters.xml? It'd be easy to check. I can't right now since away from PC, but if someone was curious they could open it and see.

Eurekas and Inspirations are also still 50% on this patch so I think this is a compatibility update rather than the full build. At least, unless this update is borked.

Okay, kind of an important thing I don't see mentioned in the notes or anyone asking about:

Will the AI now declare war outside of joint wars?

I just loaded up my current Austraillia game and Lordy is that green on black an eyesore. :yuck:

I found this line in the file you mention:
<Replace Name="SCIENCE_PERCENTAGE_YIELD_PER_POP" Value="70" />

So 0.7 ???
