For those of you don't know the lead singer Megadeth Dave Mustaine was originally in Metallicabut was booted due to drug and alcohol problems.
Anyway I don't really listen to Metallica that much and think they're quite overrated. That being said I quite like their 80's albums.

Megadeth is usually overshadowed and the roster has changed alot over the years. I' love their 90's albums and are currently listening to the Youthanasia
album.

Prepares to duck.

I'd have to side with Metallica. But the last Metallica album I bought was ...And Justice for All and the last Megadeth one was So Far, so Good...So What?. My tastes in thrash metal are frozen in the late 80s.

Megadeath and Maybe Metallica weren't really thrash metal in the 90's. Countdown to Extinction was a bit different to their last album.

Excellent, my freind and i debate this often. I have to go metallica, i love their 'softer' rock songs post their sellout, black album for example. Their last album sucked however and i doubt their new one will be any good.

I'd side with Megadeth, just because Dave Mustaine is an angry, dissatisfied bastard, and you can really hear it in most of his songs. He's also fairly consistent, whereas Metallica dropped off after Cliff Burton died and they've repeatedly let Lars Ulrich outside instead of putting him back in his cage after they're done recording.

Hmm, do i want to shove this pen in my left eye, or in the right?
I salute you, sir, for producing my first hearty laugh of the day! :salute:

Well Dave was a bit miffed from getting the boot from Metallica. While I prefer Megadeth I would ave booted him to as his behaviour was bad even by rock band standards.

No, no, I just mean he's always angry about most everything. He's always starting feuds with somebody or another and his songs are all about how much he despises X, Y, or Z. I can respect that more than Metallica's recent substance-abuse rehabilitation album (though I'll admit I did like one song on that).

I just thought theres more variety between the Megadeath albums. Their 80's ones are thrash metal, 90's more mellow. Countdown to Extinction one of their best, Youthanaisa and Cryptic Writing were reasonably mellow and Risk was odd although I didn't mind it others hated it. Kinda an oops album. I don't like any Metallica Album that much after Justice for All. Black album was good but overplayed.

I much prefer Metallica. Especially live....I tried to watch Megadeath in 2005 at Download festival but they were terriable, whereas i've sen Metallica 4 times and they've been great each time, especially at Download in 2003 and 2006!

I don't really regard Megadeth 2K5 as the proper band as they only have the lead singer left. Haven't seen either band live but I've heard Metallica do a great live show.

Megadeth is aso alot smaller in terms of sales/income so could $$$$ be an issue in terms of performance- ie Metallica had better equipment, bigger roadcrew etc? I prefer Megadeth but I would say I think I like 80's Metallica better than 80's Megadeth, 90's Megadeth better than 90's Metallica and I wouldn't be surprised if Metallica are better live.

Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
Justice for All

Great albums.

Countdown to Extinction
Youthanasia
Cryptic Writings

Great Albums. See my problems. Metallica is probably the better band in terms of how heavy they sound. Dave Mustaine seems to have the better vocal range. I can recommend all of the above albums.

I agree with these points. Metallica peaked earlier.

Metallica wins for me. Not only against Megadeth but against most other bands of my age.
I have seen many shows in my life and the 2 best among them were from Metallica.
Dave Mustain has a wider voice range allright, but he doesn't have anything special in it imo, while James Hetfield has a unique distortion in his voice that few singers can do.

Megadeth had an album called Risk.

'nuff said.

Course Metallica had the black album- which was a major sellout. That being said, the black album is still 10 times better than Risk.

Megadeth: I liked them up untill youthanasia, I think that album sucked. So I like all their work up till then.

Metallica, I dont like all theyre early stuff, I dig that master of puppets album and a few others of their early ones, but not all. I liked the black album, and even load and reload, but then they had to make living pieces of crap of themselves by having napster shut down. Plus their S&M album sucked the big one. Haven't listened to them since.

Megadeth gets my vote.

Megadeth is featured in Guitar Hero. For that reason, I vote Megadeth.

Pantera :cowboy: trumps both of them!

You obviously havent heard Panteras early music, Its that falsetto glam rocks singing of the 80's that makes one feces curdle inside the bowels. Very craptastic. :D

Their later albums do rock though, Ill grant you that. :yeah:
