BATTLEFIELD 2(not demo)

Yes AceChilla BlackHawks are the most annoying if you die many times to its bullets. I got 4 to 6 kills yesterday with BlackHawk and it was a good game untill I was kicked after I shot down BlackHawk with stinger-missiles :( I didn't know it was friendly...

I find hand grenade more efficient than grenade launcher, what is attached in assault rifles. It's so much more useful to throw un-linear grenade than to fire linear shots with launcher.

I was gaming about hour ago and very strange thing occured to me:
I was playing as USMC support and got critically wounded by BTR-90. Medic charged me back to live and what happened?!; I was now playing as MEC assault kit  I looked, hmm how strange weapon, hmm how strange jacket this dude wearing...ok I'm MEC assault. I tried to kill one of MECs players but he/she got me first. It would had give me a bit of info was ATM at MECs side or USMCs side but as MECs kit.

I looked with CAPS on what side I was playing and I was in USMC side and in my squad. I had imaginations that MEC medic charged me back to live so some bug gave me MECs kit. I dunno.

When you are revived you automatically pick up the nearest kit to your body. So in this case, some MEC guy also died in the same area, and you got his kit. If you look around afterwards, you should find your original kit, and you can change back to that if you want.

The default key for changing kits is 'G'.

So can I change kits anytime I want?

When someone dies, they drop their kit on the ground - a little rectangular box. The picture on the box shows what class they were.
You can pick these up by walking over to them and pressing 'G'. However, when you do this, you then drop your own kit.

@DS_Legionary: ok, sounds good. I've changed my mind about the noob tube though, I like it and don't know if I could do without it. Still, G3 seems like a good choice.

regarding score: I never look at the total score that much, I'm only looks at my KDR as that is what I want to improve for the moment. Dividing my total score with the nof of rounds (wins + losses) gives me 16 points per round (oh, that's kinda bad :( ) . I'd say the fastest way to gain score is to sit in a blackhawk. Gets kinda boring the 10th time you do it, but it's good if you want the first unlock quickly.

@777: not needing line-of-sight when throwing grenades is definitely one of it's advantages. It can also be fun to let it bounce on walls and killing enemies that way.

Changing kits can be very useful. A typical situation is when you're medic being harassed by a tank and the only AT guy just got nailed. Borrow his kit and finish the work, if you're quick you can pick up your old kit afterwards. Also if you're assault and se a medic kit, take it, throw some bags, and switch back to your own kit. Heal yourself with one and get a medic point when someone else takes the other one. Same with support kit :goodjob: .

Very good game, alot of fun, though the level of experience depends so much on map and those around you.

Personnally I like the smaller maps, with loads of players so that not everyone is in a vehicle, helicopter or plane. It also means there are more relatively static fights around a control point.

My first character was used to learn the game and the classes to determine what I'm good at.

My present account has me operating in the best fashion I can...specifically as a sniper, air defense or tank commander. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than sniping numerous opponents without them knowing where I am. That only works if people are in the open, relatively static (either attacking/defending a specific point) and numerous.

As a game, it can produce such amazing fire-fights, especially as the artillery pound your position or you're under massive air bombardment.

In a patch I'd love to see some sort of hit recognition system in place e.g blood splatters, sound of pain, blood trails. If nothing else it tells me if I've hit and can recreate the sensation in CS when you get that perfect headshot.

As for score...I care little for it, except my kills to deaths as to me combat is what it is about. The score system is there for good reason, to reward support and such, but if you are a good killer the score system gets you where you need to go also.

Any tips: Well, I love the old claymores at the top of a ladder when I've used it to go up and snipe (protects your back). Alternatively have it around a flag, do expect noobs on your side to get themselves TK'ed by it however.

Read that guide linked on this thread: nice

Always Play As a Sniper! - The sniper is singlehandedly the most awesome and useful class in the universe. I mean, they have sniper rifles, for crying out loud! SNIPER RIFLES! Some of the most successful BF2 teams were composed entirely of snipers, sharpshooting enemies from hundreds of meters away and snuffing out souls like a rogue Twinkie lobbed into your damp, subterranean computer lair. Many squad leaders will often request large amounts of snipers to join their team since the core of any useful squad is a sniper ready and willing to sit in one single location for 30 minutes, shooting at tanks and calling for supplies while refusing to move for any reason short of an air strike directly on their head. Never underestimate the monumental contributions a sniper can lend to any squad that really likes crouching in one location for days and missing virtually everything they aim for.

Hehe, I'm sure many snipers do miss all the time. I don't, but the point is VERY well taken.

Had to also add this one...soooo true!

Never Join a Squad! - Squads are composed groups of people who are so untalented and crummy at BF2 that they need help to simply survive. You are not like that! You're a one man army! You're a soldier capable of killing people so brutally that they will respawn in a game of Battlefield 1942. You know the map and your enemies better than any commander or squad leader possibly can, so go lone wolf and rack up points like a crazed jackal! If somebody makes the horrible mistake of asking you to join their squad, hit the "negative" message about 50 times, as fast as you can. This will let everybody on the server know you're so amazingly skilled that you actually turn down offers to join squads who need your valuable help to prevent them from dying like blind hogs. If you decide to create your own squad, name it something descriptive like "TEAM AWESUM" or "SNIPERZZZZ" and don't invite anybody unless they pass a 30-page written exam covering the exhaustive history of "Cho Bits."

Disagree about the distain of loading up a jeep with C4 and detonating it against a target. Just let someone else drive - just like 'Rear War' in Iraq :D

Anyway I find squad leader job to be most awarding, I like it if I give orders and other obeys it and squad members follow me where I go. And usual I feel kind of responsible about what happens to my squad (maybe this is because at army time I was a squad leader) and I feel that I must show an example for my men. Weird that its only a game, but real army did its job :D

And when I can have first unlock? Is it after promotion to lance corporal?

After you become Lance Corporal the next time you start your game you will be prompted to select an unlocked weapon.

Allright! I think I'll get that tomorrow! PKM? Is that good?

I dislike being a squad leader. The only thing I like about it is being able to directly request supplies/arty from the commander and not having to go through the squad leader first. I prefer to just be in a squad, work with them to take bases and such, but sadly I have only been in a few squads that actually do that. The few squads I was in, that actually worked like a squad is supposed to, were some of the best games I have played yet. I also wish more people would use the microphone. It is great to be able to instantly communicate with squad members about enemy positions and such. Not to mention the hassle of having to take the time to type something out. Oh, well I'll just have to keep on being a one-man army for now. Or at least until I can find a couple of good buddies online at the same time as me, get together as a squad, and then it's time to show the world the true extent of my wrath. MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! :)

P.S. my nickname on BF2 is -{TF}-Desert_Fox3188, and I'm usually on during the weekends around 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST (can't play during the week anymore cause of school and work). So if anyone wants to maybe get together on a server and go bonk some heads P.M. me or something.

DS_Legionary you live in US? If so, it would be difficult to go to server at same time :( Otherwise it would be nifty idea! :)
I play allmost everyday hour or couple, except at saturday but sometimes at saturday too. My nickname is EnemyFace.

Very occasionally on weekends, when I can be bothered staying up to 5am, i'll harass Wildfire (american) for a game. Ping doesn't affect things too much. If you just idle in the chatroom then it's quite easy to organise something.
Otherwise...
If you want to watch me own, just click here and join me (assuming i'm actually playing :p)

@777, Yes I am in the US, I kinda forgot about the whole world-wide aspect of the web :) It probably would be pretty hard to organize a game living in different parts of the world. Oh well, no matter I will just have to start being a squad leader *sigh* and try to have my squad work like a squad is supposed to.

@Gainy HOLY CRAP! I just took a look at your stats. Unbelievable man, I had no idea you were that good. I feel so insignificant in comparison. http://bf2s.com/player/-{TF}-Desert_Fox3188/ Those are mine if you feel like taking a look. I've recently switched kits. I used to be a hardcore Assault player, but have come to see the light being a Medic. I mean being able to heal myself has greatly improved my Kill to Death ratio, I'm aiming for a 2:1 ratio. I've got a long ways to go though.

So long as you enjoy it, it doesn't matter. However I tend not to enjoy it unless i'm totally owning ;)

Your stats seem fine. Take into account i've played the game almost 9x more than you have, so i'll have more experience. You should always strive to increase your kdr though. Mine was initially a bit lower than 2, so 2 became my target. Then it was 3, now 4, it'll have to just keep going up :p

Regarding Medic/Assault, medic generally is a lot better. You can run further/faster, the rifle is the same, you can revive teammates, you can heal yourself + teammates.
The only benefit to assault is the nade launcher + extra bit of armour. However, this can be a big benefit. A regular player with a nade launcher can easily kill a 'pro' with a medic gun. So if you're in a squad with medics, going Assault can be quite beneficial. Not so much for your stats tho...

The only other thing I can say is: do not be afraid to try vehicles. I totally sucked in planes and choppers initially. I can't believe how many times trees got the better of me ... but I persisted. Now I reguarly hear complaints of me being a dirty whore, constantly getting kick vote initiations, etc :D Don't be afraid to practice them in MP games either, that's what I did. If someone starts complaining you about sucking, just tell em to fook off.

back to bf2...

That's the spirit!! :D

I think it's -9h if you compare my time and time in US. So it would be morning here and night there and otherwise. If I wake up at 8am to play then it would be about 11 or 12pm there, not so bad time afterall. Looking forward for a game :D If Gainy is willing to join, its even better.

But let's not have a rush rush, think about it...

Yea, my ratio was horrible when I first started, like a .54 I think. But I have improved it quite a bit and have almost made it to a 1:1 ratio. As for the Assault pack the reason I was so big on that was the nade launcher. I took out just about anything with that thing. Humvees, Buggy's, APC's, even several Tanks (usually the tank was at half life or the driver was a total noob). I remeber the feeling of killing a room of 4 or 5 people with only one nade from 20+ yards away. It was the greatest thing ever, but I now usually play as a Medic for self-healing plus the revive points (has helped my score dramatically) or a Support when I feel like having some real firepower.

I'm struggling to get my KDR to 1:1 as well. The total is getting closer to 1:1 but the infantry part is at 0.7 and that's what I want to improve right now. If you have any good advice to give please do, I'm not satisfied with the tactics I've employed so far.
