BF1942 and its mods might still remain my most played game ever, even if I hadnt played it for quite some time now. I sunk way too much time into playing Desert Combat Final and perfecting my Scud/MLRS launching skills.

Played BF2 quite a lot as well. Going engie/AT with that auto-shotgun was my fav. Cant wait for BF3, although I think the absence of winXP support is going to finally force me to upgrade to Win7. Ah well.

Download it to a USB flash drive, Windows has a free utility for that purpose. Then boot from it like an install disc.

Extremly stupid gameplay (bunny hopping et al).

I'd rather play ARMA. Or even that HL2 mod Insurgency. Only thing nifty about BF2 was the teamplay and that vehicles' function was based on the occupants.

There is something seriously awesome/fun about getting into a blackhawk heli for the first time in a public server and loading up with half a dozen random strangers, than nosediving into the ocean because you haven't learned to fly yet.... GREAT memories, prolly frustrating for them, but I thought it was awesome.

Definitely like the sandbox arena that was BF2. I can't wait to get back into a battlefield and bombing enemies in jets, tanks and heli's.

Yeah good memories of heli failures in Bad Company 2, though many bad memories too. I've started playing BC2 again and it seems (though only based off 5 rounds) most people who can't fly aren't trying anymore and more at least partially capable people are flying.

Though idiotic snipers are still using them as their personal transports.
