Battlefield Asia: The Mod(Idea Stage...comments please with cherrys on top..)

Well, I think its high time I tossed another idea out. I'm not abandoning my other projects, just bar with me here. Basically, when working on the ACM with Civarmy I figured that it would be cool to make mods of other less represented areas in the Civ-world.

The most prominent is East Asia, also known as the Orient.

I've been working on an East Asia mod myself that I advertised last month (as RedAlert kindly mentioned :) ). It's on hiatus now since I don't have a lot of time and I'm still waiting for someone to make a Zhanmadao Swordsman. :)

Anyway, I'll give you some suggestions that I was implementing in my mod:

Leaders:
China -
Ying Zheng (or you could use "Qin Shi Huang Di")
Ying Zheng is the original name for "Qin Shi Huang Di" as "Qin Shi Huang Di" is actually his title after he became the first emperor of China :)
I don't think I need to explain much about the famous/infamous Qin Shi Huang Di. :)

-OR- Liu Bang: Liu Bang was the founder of the Han Dynasty; most Chinese call themselves "Han" ;) .

Japan -
Empress Suiko (Frenchman made a great Empress Suiko leaderhead a while back :D )
Though women almost always had no real political power in classical Japan, Empress Suiko was the the 33rd imperial ruler of Japan, the first woman to hold this position. Although Prince Shotoku was more active in the politics in the imperial court, Empress Suiko had influence in politics and was relatively powerful.

Korea* -
King Sejong
The 4th ruler of the Choson (some sites spell it "Joseon") Dynasty of Korea, King Sejong was a skilled linguist who spearheaded the development of the Korean "Hangul" system of writing, which Koreans still use today. He was an inventor that made various inventions (including a water clock, a sundial, and a rain gauge). An ardent Neo-Confucianist, he was also a humanitarian that prohibited brutal punishments of criminals.

*By the way, Korea itself did have a Warring States period when it was three different kingdoms - Koguryo, Silla, and Paekche.

Wonders:
Wan Li Chang Cheng (The Great Wall of China)
Changdeokgung Palace (sometimes called the "most Korean" of all Korean palaces)
Himeji Castle
The Pyramid Tomb of Emperor Qin
Dunhuang Buddhist Caves
Borobudur Temple of Java
Sunzi's "The Art of War"
The Potala Palace
Daibutsu

first, i dont like frenchmans work, sorry, but it doesnt fit with the other leaderheads, and I didnt like the suiko leaderhead sorry. And for suiko her self, she was the first to hold power in the YAMATO, state, Himiko ruled her own state and had a court of all woman and only one man. Suiko had to joint rule with her brother. And it was her brother who held most of the power. Jingu Kogo lead the invasion of korea with her husband, she is a better female leader, but we should have a male for japan

this is really bad, sorry, but here is a preview of the nepal leader. his mustache is actually a hair prop i messed with to look like that, he looks more like a tan vlad the impailer. does anyone have an asia map? I can start placing the civs and adding the units, as well as the text.

Thankyou Ogedai! You want to join our two mods toghether? Shiro has already joined, and is making leaderheads for it.

And about wonders, I'd add the Terra Cota Army to the list.

Actually, as for my mod, I'm not even sure if it will be finished or not. And oftentimes it seems that Shirou and I have a lot of disagreements, so I don't think we'd make a good team. :p

But I'll gladly share ideas, concepts, and any information with you. I'm still in the process of searching for more information myself. :)

As far as accuracy goes, it's impossible to re-create history completely, especially when each of the Asian civilizations developed in their own unique way. There's a tremendous amount of differences in the cultures, military histories, and developmental histories between them.

By the way, here are some capitals you can use:

China -
Xianyang: Xianyang was the city of Qin Shi Huang Di and thus is the first imperial capital of what we call "China". There are much older capitals of older dynasties such as Anyang or Loyang, but Xianyang (which is now known as Xi'an) is the first capital of a truly unified empire.

Japan -
Nara (or Heijou-kyo): The city of Nara (once "Heijou-kyo") was established as the first 'permanent capital' of Japan. It served as the seat of imperial power until the capital was moved to Heian-kyo (Kyoto).

Korea -
Hanyang (a.k.a. Hanseong, a.k.a Seoul): Seoul has a very long history as a city, as it dates back to 18 BCE when it was established as the capital of the Korean kingdom of Paekche, though it was known as Wiryeseong. Seoul was a major center of transportation and thus a strategic city in the Korean peninsula. In 1394 CE, it became the capital of the Choson and was renamed Hanseong.

Tibet -
Lhasa: I don't think I need to elaborate further on why this should be the capital for the Tibetan civ. ;)

If you're interested, I also have a bunch of city names of Shang and Zhou Dynasty era cities. Also, my Chinese city graphics are in the works. I already completed the Song/Jin/Yuan era city graphics. I'm currently working on the Qin, Han, and Three Kingdoms era city graphics. :)

How about a Warring States scenario, involving the Seven Kingdoms fighting over who got to unify China first? Qin got to win that contest, but it could have gone...differently.

I lOVE him...I realize its only rough, but that was good with the mustache...I am not sure the hats right though...Maybe a turban would be better, and even if we can't get him very asian looking, the turban would add to the feel.

Also, I think a better replacement (or adding) for Kashmir, would be the Sikhs (Punjab), they have a very interesting history, and adding them opens a couple of wonders and units..

I know the whole area of North India to Tibet and East Central Asia pretty well, so if you lack any info on those I can get it..UUs, Cities, or other

Xi'an was Chang'an (name means eternal/long lasting peace)... Xiangyang was famous for the mongol invasions, though i'm not sure about it being capital to any dynasties... This is the thing with chinese city names in english, different but similar at the same time.
