Battlefield New York BETA Testing & Discussion

yeah, I was expecting to do at least 10 different layouts...

Are the mountains completed?...If so I would like to see them for reference...

so, less skyscrapers in the hills...spaced out a bit more...got it...

NY gang style grafitti...that I can do...

Oh ok, so Im doing the "residential" areas...lower Mahattan and such...?...okie dokie...

or should I put more tall buildings? More apartment buildings?...just more buildings??

These are actually modeled after buildings on the Eastern edge of Manhattan...I found them with Google Earth...I was gonna add grass/bushes/trees between the buildings, but I thought Id see if rubble and such might not be better...

Those look good. I like the layout. You might want to use a simpler texture on the big building, because at civ scale in 256 colors it will lose some detail.

If you want to go all out, you could make a set with vegetation for the standard hills, and a set with some rubble for the forested hills. (LM Forest is preplaced rubble) Also, if it's possible to damage some of the buildings to various extents, that would be great.

Im hoping the loss of detail will make it look better actually...

Now thats a good idea...and I planned on damaging the buildings a bit...we will see what I manage...
[edit] but both sets are identical hills right?...or should the "vege" hils and the "rubble" hills be different layouts?

So, how about some nice screenshots to get us all revved up for the beta's release tomorrow?:mischief:

Excellent. You beat Apocalypse NY :goodjob:

If I wasn't so tied up with EFZI2 I'd help out with the beta. I can add you to the playtester's list if you want to take a look at EFZI2? There might be some graphics you can use. Just let me know.

I look forward to playing this when I get a chance.

Maybe I can assimilate you after EFZI2 is done :mischief:

Sure but I do not know when I'll be done with EFZI2.

Just PM me your email and I'll add you to the list.

Spacer is making a new set of "suburbs" graphics (as suburban as NYC gets, anyway). If you really want these ones I could do it, but the new ones will look much better. It won't be hard at all to convert them to jungle.
I can wait for the new version.

Downloading BETA right now, I don't know how much testing I could do without Recon kicking my @$$.

Okay, I played a bit as the police, and I've got some things to say:

-Almost all my buildings were starving at the start of the game. Not very fun when the majority of your population dies, and your income drops into the negatives in the first few turns....
-Alot of the techs seem useless.
-I'd recommend removing Military Alliances, cause after a while, with the AI signing a bunch of MAs against each other, things started to get pretty crazy....
