Battlestar Galactica 4x10 - *SPOILER heavy thread*

"Shouldn't we save the kid?"
and the attorney says "frak him"
and the priest says "do we have time?"

"http://www.magnifix.com/other/jokes/joke97.html - it was this one, essentially. The joke is that priests are rapists.

ALSO Laura Roslin's I'M COMING FOR ALL OF YOU speech was one of the best moments of the series.

I like Baltar, he doesn't lose a chance to get laid. Doesn't matter if there's a crisis out there.

Thanks. I just couldn't believe they'd include such a rough joke

BTW, the good thing is that Zarek got rid of the Quorum before he lost. That will make things a lot easier for Roslin :)

Yeah, I thought of that too. Awfully convenient that Zarek did the dirty work for them. Frankly, I wasn't impressed with that little plot trick.

I don't think so. Neither Roslin nor Adama ever wanted to get rid of the Quorum. I think they will establish some "Emergency Quorum" or something like that after the failed coup.

I was kind of disappointed about the episode. Why do the good guys always have to be full of empty threats? Why are they allowed to act all stupid without facing the consequences? No way to fix that mess with just two executions.

Come on, there are less than 40.000 survivors (humanoid cylons included), they can't mess with the genetic diversity of the species.

I was, I didn't expect that at all. Zarek was a terrorist, but I didn't expect he'd kill the Quorum in cold blood.

Good riddance, they were a bunch of whiners. Democracy in the Fleet's situation is a nonsense anyway.

In the end, I felt sorry for Gaeta. They should have left him alive.

empty threats? I dont think there full of empty threats. But you cant kill off a 3rd of the crew. There isn't that many humans left to start with, and it isn't like replacements are coming anytime soon.

You don't have to kill 1/3 of the crew but you can't let the rebelling officers off the hook. Like the one who was arranging Adama's execution - he clearly said that he won't accept Adama's policy. You can't right such a situation by telling people that they were naughty.

Oh, I thought you were alluding to two EPs ago when Adama said he would have ever person shot who went along with the coup.

And killing those two was just the 1st step, not the last. I don't think they are going shot too many more people, but they are not going to be let off the hook.

I don't think support was ever all that strong for the rebels. They just had people in some key positions (mainly Gaeta himself) that let them pull off what they did. And considering all the fighting aboard Galactica during these 2 eps, I'd expect that many of them were killed. According to the survivor count, 40 people were killed in last week's ep., and the fighting this week was quite a bit more heated.

Never much of a fan a Gaeta's character, but he sure had some hell of a nice character arc. From where it began to where it ended, and last night's episode had Gaeta's best moments in the entire series.

President Rosalyn was awesome in the episode as well. The emotion she expressed was certainly memorable. It was cool seeing Apollo, Starbuck and Tyrol doing some action too.

The crewman who didn't shoot Tyrol, he had a nice moment expressing the sadness of where everyone was at the beginning of the miniseries and where they are now.

Announced the prequel series Caprica pilot with be out April 21th on DVD

Yeah Alessandro Juliani really outdid himself in this 2-parter.

The last two episodes were awesome. I thought the Quorum scene was incredible. Calling their new dictator vice-president took balls, and I immediately thought that the coup had ended right there and then unless he had them all killed. I was still shocked when he did it though.

Spoiler :
Sounds like we're getting lots of juicy cylon answers next week too.

The only problem was it seemed anti-climactic at the end.

I can not see Zarek just standing by when Gaeta screwed them over, sure if he did anything he likely would have been shot, but he at least should have yelled at the other people. That and someone should have resisted Adama, but I guess the bridge crew decided the thing was over once Gaeta gave up.

BTW: I have hated Gaeta since the series began, but am impressed how they used him this last bit. He always reminded me of the guy on stargate "Chevron 1 encoded, Cevron 2 encoded....", nice to see him get way out there. Though from the start it was clear he was too weak to go through with it, I expected Zarek to dispose of him (and claim Adama or someone did it).

And just because they showed only the two leaders executed doesn't mean others weren't punished, or even executed. Those were just he key ones. They were special, the rest are dealt with separately.

Well the thing about the bridge crew is that most are still being held at gun point by the marines and with Adama at the door, the marines probably felt surrounded

The important thing in that scene was Gaeta recognising that it was over, and Zarek trying to issue orders without the authority to do it. Zarek didn't have time to do anything more than that when Adama's posse of righteousness marched in.

But Zarek didn't really try to issue orders, from my view of the character he should have been going on a tirade even when the soldiers stuck a gun in his face.
I am not saying it was bad, far from it, it was quite good, but just seemed lacking something to push it over the edge. there was one point were Gaeta or Zarek turning and punching the other in the face would have been perfect, and I just don't see Zarek going quietly, I see him making a speech the whole way, gun in his face or not.

Escksey: I suppose I never thought about that, I had assumed the bridge crew was loyal to him (if I led a mutiny on a ship, I would put my most loyal followers on the bridge), I figured the marines were there since there was still fighting going on throughout the ship.

Meh, Zarek knows when the writing is on the wall.
