Quiet times

Tour the empire. Not much to do for city management. Spend 36g to rush the settler at Londinium. Will move east to the coast to get cattle and forest tiles. Settler from Tyrus will move to the coast between Cyrene and Agrippina for the wheat tile. We will need one more town on the coast between Cyrene and Arretium for the banana grove and the fish.
Ambassadors report:
Sell Shaka our WM for his maps, 21g and 5gpt.
Japan is broke and ignorant.
Cleo is still pissed at us but will offer maps 19g and 4gpt for our WM
Hiawatha is glad to see us and will pay hisTM and 12g for our WM.
Abe is also glad to see is and will offer his maps and 13g for our WM.
Not bad: 65g and 9gpt for parchment
Abe is the only one ahead of us but boy is he ahead!!
Lots of interest in our saltpeter but no money in hand to pay for it. Only Hiawatha and Abe have cash to psend and both already have it.
Abe will give us 10gpt for ivory. Ship it to try and drain his treasury a little. He's at 218g in hand now and making.
Shift a worker from irrigation duties to add to Cumae to boost output a little
Cleo lands a settler/MDI paid in the northern desert
Antium builds its bank and starts a university
Londinium builds its settler and is abandoned. Arretium builds its worker and starts a barracks. Tyrus builds its settler and is abandoned.
People love me so much they put a dome on the palace.
T1 860
Hem in Cleo's settler in the desert.
Build mines and irrigate in the SE. Road, irrigate and mine in the N
We learn Economics and start on Physics.
Add a worker to Cumae and swap to Smith's due in 30
T2-T4 890
Hiawatha's offer for Economics is dropping. It was a tech of choice, either MT or Democracy plus 250g. It is now MT only plus 100g, or 35gpt plus his WM. Decide there is greater value in gpt then in techs that have minimal brokerage value and not wanting to lose the opportunity, do the deal for 38gpt after a little haggling. If we want to we can pick up MTand Democracy from Cleo but the cash will be useful in maintaining the push to Physics which I think can be sold for Metallurgy and MilTrad. Take the money and turn up the Bunsen Burners towards Physics
T5 900
Abe is really taking it on the chin. Although he has not lost any cities that I can see, he now has workers for sale and nothing left in his treasury
American's start Shake's. War weariness must be a problem.
T7 910
Trade Japan some AA tech, ivory and horses for dyes.
T8 920
Egypt joins in against Abe.
T9 930
Learn Physics one turn after Hiawatha but before Abe. Start max run on Magnetism.
Trade Abe Physics and 160gpt for Metallurgy.
Get 510g +15gpt and his maps from Hiawatha for Metallurgy
Trade Physics to Cleopatra for Wines and her maps
Take 9g+2gpt from Abe for our updated map
We now have all the money except the 160gpt going to Abe.
The wines from Cleo allow us to turn down the entertainment tax and get everybody back to work.
spend some of the gold rushing the temple in Augustadorum
Abe and Hiawatha sign a peace treaty
WLTKD breaks out all over!
T10 950
Not much doing.
Abe has gained ground against the Zulu in his east but lost Miami to the Iroquois in his north.
We are making excellent progress towards our goal of being the first Romans in Space.
The northlands are go to have lots of small cities as the terrain is just not very kind to us up there.
Smith's is due in 20 at Cumae, the Palace is still building in Antium and the Pentagon now at Rome. We stand a good chance of snagging NewtonU as we will be the first to Magnetism and there will be no meaningful cascade unless Abe switches to Smiths from Shakes in Atlanta
Research is set at 90% with no scientists and -297gpt. All those small towns in the north are hurting our scinece effort. We might want to consider selling the barracks in the waist towns.
A little judicious short rushing in the north might help in getting harbors in place. The most important thing is population up there. Those towns won't be good for much else until we get to Nationalism for cops (more gold) and Communism to cut the shield waste.
Order of go (temporary rearrangement):
barbslinger-played the hand he was dealt and did it well
Bede-hasn't fired a shot in anger
Cuivienen-
up now.
Sir Bugsy-on deck
scoutsout-waiting his turn
Once scout plays we are back to the original rota.
