Berserks01 - Space Monkies

lurker's comment: Rex, i love you. in the even if there are kinky dice around we won't use them way of course. that just may be the best roster EVAH. and your list of good rosters was so long already!
Code Monkey Video only amusing to those who ever played WoW. caution: no bananas.

hmm, "Rex ... you ... are kinky" is in there too. and "Rex ... you ... are ... the best ... EVAH." so long is the best of all those?

edit: and "Rex ... you ... are ... bananas."

Fox, I didn't ignore you. You're our backed-up player. Isn't that what you wanted?

Anyway, here we go. I took a look at our Banana capital, and one thought came to mind immediately. Holy hammerless city  We won't have much of a production there til we get lumbermills, and that's way in the future. Us monkeys will probably be hairless by then ... of course, ass scratching would still be commonplace, but damn...

Taking a look at that rotten banana peel Fox gave me, I only saw one symbol :whipped: so I did the only thing I could, I switched us to slavery.

Polytheism came along with a Hairless Priest.

Being simple-minded as we are at the moment, we were swayed by this foreign monkey talk and decided to embrace the multi-handed culture.

After all, with more hands one can eat more bananas faster, right? Right?

I decided to look around for ways to build some roads next, so we don't always have to swing around trees ALL the time.

Ahh, road building, sweet.

Let's try make sharper stones.

The way I see it, we can build 4 cities around our capital. Here are some suggested spots. Let's decide on which ones to keep and which order to build in.

I'd go in this order:

1. Purple
2. Blue
3. Yellow
4. Cyan - note the rice at the marked empty circle

Cyan? I don't see cyan. I call that color orange.

I fully agree with lucky, our next city should be purple. We should forget abt archery (why archery? ... hmm) and go straight for iron workings. I fully expect iron or horse to appear in out capital's BFC to give us the much needed hammers.

I wouldn't go for blue ... that city sucks IMHO ... no redeeming factor except for the two gems. If we are going to waste a non-banana city, I say we go north-west to claim room from Mongolia before he closes in.

Okay, keeping with my new duty..

Les Roster

  • GreyFox << Pretty mean and grumpy for a back-up, huh?
  • Berserks01 << Just spent 30 minutes on a dot map that Fox shat upon in two seconds.
  • Rex Tyrannus << Up to show the true meaning of apathy.
  • Sammcs << On deck. Sort of like batting behind the pitcher, eh?
  • Negyvenketto << Part honkey, all monkey.
  • Lucky1972 << Ooh eeh ooh ah ah, ting tang wadda wadda bing bang.

Looks like I'm up, eh? I shall endeavor to not do my worst!

Blue isn't a non-banana city, there's banana in it's BFC ... it just can't work it :)

I started heading for IR, but switched to Archery at the last minute. But since there aren't any beakers invested yet, feel free to change it.

I am glad you agree, and I don't mind the coulor of our next city, but I was not reffering to purple dot, but to a city using the pigs further NE. Purple dot would be a great city after iron working (and a lot of workers working too), but before that it will be too food poor to be useful IMO. I will try to make a picture with my sugestion (which is a big TRY for me).

I agree with iron working next, and us not needing archery. Once we hook up that copper, we can start trainning chimpis. ;)

Edit: Here is a picture:

banana-yellow dot gets ivory, non-jungle pigs and the copper. One tile roded and its connected, hopefully getting induhism soon. Will need borders pop (and AH) to get the pigs, but not IW.

rotten-banana-brow dot is farther away, but gets fresh watter and corn (with borders pop) for which we already have the tech.

I didn't check how long it will take to get IW, but my (limmited) experience with jungle cities tells me they allways suck for a lot longer than inicially expected, unless you have an army of workers.

I know both are not banana cities, but I would settle one of those two first (probably yellow).

We can't settle non-banana cities. We can only capture them. IW takes 22 turns.

Purple dot is my preferred next city as stated in my post. I like blue dot for the gems ... helps with science.

3. For every 2 cities there must be at least one banana

Ok, I understood this as "for every city with a banana, there can be another city without it" But what was meant was: maximum 2 cities can share a banana.

Wait, but then I don't get the rule about only banana cities building space ship parts... Ah, that is because of the captured ones. :hammer2:

Ok, think I understand now. Hummm... this is harder than I thought. Will rethink everything.

hmmm...rules clarification needed. I understood "For every 2 cities there must be at least one banana" the same way lucky did.

Actually, Rex and Lucky are right. I was combining rule 1 and 3 together, thus can only build cities with banana in them, silly me

I was just testing if you guys actually read the rules anyway :p
So, a new dot map is needed.

Lucky: I think you are too worried about the jungles ...just swap research to IW and we will have IW in no time. Your dot map, shifting yellow one tile south is so much more superior than your original yellow site. However, if Berserk's purple dot has freshwater, it is much better than both yellow or 1S of yellow, IMHO.

My purple dot has bananas, pigs, copper, and ivory, 1 tile south from fresh water. It is also 2S from Lucky's yellow.

damned rules-lawyer's comment:
:crazyeye: you crazy monkeys (that's a compliment). you thought i was merely being silly! what, you thought i was rules-lawyering to hear my fingers click on the keyboard? well partly, and partly to hear myself giggle. but partly because it really wasn't clear to me, and i expected you to run smackdab into this. i know how you men (apologies if any of you are women) get about reading manuals and rules in the first place even when they are perfectly clear :p. i will quote myself to be as tacky as possible.

as annoying rules-lawyer in the crowd, i'll point out that rule 3 says "For every 2 cities there must be at least one banana". it doesn't have that self-built cities qualifier in there.

Damned rules lawyers ...the monkee in me says "rule 1 has priority over rule 3" (there, I used your favourite term monkee ... so quit the lawyering!) But seriously, rule 3 does not stop us from keeping cities without trees ... it only lmits the number of cities we can keep.

nice attempt to dodge! rule 3 isn't about trees, it's about bananas! "3. For every 2 cities there must be at least one banana" you lost me about the "limits the number of cities you can keep". you are thinking you can only have a total of 2 cities per banana, regardless of who settled the cities? if there are 5 bananas on the map, you can only ever have 10 cities? "yes, we have no spare bananas, we must raze this city today" sort of thing? ooooh boy!

@our Fearless Alpha Monkey. please note that additions/changes to your original post are made by me and noted in brackets:
I was just testing if you guys actually read the rules anyway :p [altho KMadCandy has stubbornly decided that is her duty until such time that she is informed that she better quit it before y'all fling poo at her].
So, a new dot map [and an edit to the official rules in post #1 is are] needed.

What's there to clarify? I'm sure we can all just swing it :p:

But, let's be serious for a second here, KMad what do you need to clarify? I can probably find another serious second to answer you. Ok, seconds up, I can stop being serious now. *whew*
