Berserks01 - Space Monkies

What's there to clarify? I'm sure we can all just swing it :p

i ain't gotta clarify nothing! you're the alpha monkey, you wrote the rules! about your user title: "Obviously Very Confused". we have a lot in common *giggle*.

silly Rex. if i were to answer your comment with the first thing that came to mind it would definitely be more appropriate for DM than CFC!

Lucky: I think you are too worried about the jungles ...just swap research to IW and we will have IW in no time. Your dot map, shifting yellow one tile south is so much more superior than your original yellow site. However, if Berserk's purple dot has freshwater, it is much better than both yellow or 1S of yellow, IMHO.

--

You are probably right. As I said, my experience is limmited and I trust the team's judgement about the matter. I fully agree 1s of my banana-yellow dot is superior in the long term, but right now I tend not to settle a jungle-chop dependent city until I have like 3 productive cities and a good workers force. I see I am about to learn better.

As berserker said, purple dot does not have fresh water, but has bananas. Long term I agree is the best spot available.

@KMadCandy: you are absolutelly right, as usual.

Playing now, you chimps. Just let me reboot into Windows. Still have no idea what the rules are. Fortunately, monkeys can't be expected to follow rules anyway...

Monica: There's nothing to tell! He's just some guy I work with!

Joey: C'mon, you're going out with the guy! There's gotta be something wrong with him!

Chandler: All right Joey, be nice. So does he have a hump? A hump and a hairpiece?

Phoebe: Wait, does he eat chalk?

Director: I liked number three, how 'bout you?

Fox exec: Yeah. Definitely number three.

@all, the map above is a composite of four screenies. The edges don't line up, as the angle is slightly different for all four. But it gives the general idea. I played an extra turn, as I wanted to be certain we got the henge. I whipped away three pop to grab it, but I wanted to beat Mao. With the banana req's, I wanted fast border pops. Lastly, I recommend settling the southern iron aggressively. Mao is very close.

Well, I normally wouldn't bother with the henge, let alone whipping it, but it does give us Prophet points for the the Hindu Shrine. So good job.

I still recommend we waste one non-banana city and snatch that marble from Khan. We are going for space, and the variant call for a non-military focused way of going to space. To achieve that, we need to focus on libraries ... and in particular, the Alexandria library.

We probably don't need iron hooked up so soon ... since our Impis are good enough at this stage. However, it is still a good thing to settle agressively for bananas. So it's ok with me if players decide to go for the iron banana site down south.

I am still dismayed by the lack of iron/copper in our capitol's BFC ... damned! What kind of crappy starting location!!! It better has horsey, else I will strangle that "Nice Birdy"!!!

EDIT: oh, regarding the stitching artwork of Rex, there is actually a better way to do it: Use the flying camera. You have to enable it in your .ini file, and press Ctrl-F in game, and voila ... one of the perks of a 3D game.

Ah, I see. A learned monkey. :crazyeye: Now, if only you bothered to learn the same language as the rest of us monkeys

I agree with Fox except for one thing. Does this variant *really* calls for a non-military shuttle? Well, we'll see. I have yet to launch a ship without going to war, especially for one made of banana peel.

We could go to war, but what's the point? We won't gain many cities due to the banana rule ... and with patch 2.08, the AI are less willing to part with tech for peace as compared with vanilla. This is only Prince ... a little city specialization and focused teching would win us the game easily.

I am not saying we shouldn't be warring, I am just saying if the point was to teach a monkey to go to space, we should be teaching it how to tech correctly. If we want a, as Rex put it, "yet another military game where we scored a non-military victory (YAMGWWSANMV)", then we would just be teaching the Monkey how to war, not go to space. Any idiot can win a space race when all the AI's are reduced to either dust or settler-AI-equivalent.

One million monkies sitting at one million computers generating one million maps got one map without copper, iron or horsies in the BFC. Guess which one you got?

Honestly can't remember as it was the first map I rolled, was just checking for enough bananas to support you guys, the other resources were just as generated, so random like any other SG ;)

I agree with Fox on our next city stealing the marble from Khan. I would settle it on the wine, getting rice, cows and an oasis. But this will probably mean Mao will not only get that iron, but steal us some banana, which would make him a logical target.

Certainly the prophet points were a factor, and the stated border pops were the primary factor, but I also built the damned thing because it was a choice between it, a warrior, and another settler. We didn't have much to build.

Also, I realized the sequence of my screenies is backward. IW came in, then Stonehenge. I've invested about four turns into animal husbandry, which I chose for pigs in banana two and crossing my fingers for horses in the capital's BFC.

Without horses, this start blows.

Well, I believe we can go for another worker. Being expansive, we should build (=whip) more workers.

Very well...

Hey, Hey, it's the Roster

Mickey "GreyFox" Dolenz
Davy "Berserks01" Jones
Mike "Rex Tyrannus" Nesmith << Just played
Peter "Sammcs" Tork << UP
Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Negyvenketto Ltd
Lucky "Pleasant Valley Sunday" 1972
According to Rex's roster, Sammcs is up.

Sammcs, you there?

Negy, you should go ahead and play. Sammcs has exceeded his 12 hour "got it", so we'll skip him this round.

You know how us :old: folks are. 12 hours ... 24 hours ... 48 hours ... they're all the same when all you do is sit around counting each others teeth

Dear My Monkey-mates In The Jungle,

The production of a warrior in Banana One (BO) has been automatically changed to Impi when Copper connected to the capital. I let it finish that while growing and ordered a settler.
We should be lucky like Kylie Minogue since Khan was busy founding two cities up here, but not on the marble. Otherwise it not so good, we are blocked from the north.

And that's what we have: The First Non-banana City
monkeys4.JPG

We can try to grab the iron from Mao, a settler was ordered for it.

Research:
AH came in, and we have horses :D
but wait, :aargh: it just outside of BO's BFC
