Yes, Good Omens is a very funny one.

A character... Vetinary! The perfect tyrant.

Rincewind!

Well you asked if you evenr had started a thread on relgion.. i looked, and no you hadn't, but i felt like bumping this.. its not news, so its just as relevant now as then!

Captain Vimes, but I voted Ridcully because I cannot remember who that is..

My two grandmothers were Granny Wetherwax and Nanny Ogg. I lent my mum one of the books when I was a wee lad, and her first reaction was to laugh herself silly and comment on how these were my grandmothers.

The patrician is a great charecter, vimes, Leonard of Quirm... Ahh all wonderful.

Greebo reminds me of the old tomcat my dad refused to have nutered, and there is a little of everyone that aspires to be the librarian. There is more of Rinceind in everyone then we like to admit. And anyone who has ever bought street-food anywhere knows cut-my-own-throat dibbler, and as likly as not cursed his name the next day.

My vote goes to nanny ogg. Sweet old ladies who know everything about a village twenty minutes after arriving... Never mess with them. Ever. Take them a nice bottle of something sweet. Fix their leaking tap, whatever. Life will be better for you.

Of all the books, the ones involving witches i enjoyed the least.

Why vote for the character you can't remeber?!?!

not really a character but a duo, but one that definately deserves mentioning: Fred Colon and Nobby. I just loved their explanation of what's the difference between porn and art :)

Haha, yeah.. which book was that from, i might have to dig it back out.

I'm not 100% sure anymore, but I think it was Thud! where they're arguing in the museum over the stolen painting.

So many of the best are not in the list: Vimes, Carrot, Angua (is it slightly weird to start fancying a fictional lady werewolf?!), and Vetinari to start with.

I'm also very fond of some of the minor characters, like P'traci the handmaiden, Edmund De'Ath, Victor the Holy Wood actor, Didactylos the philosopher and the history monk (is his name Lu Tze?)

But best of all are Brutha and the Great God Om <holy horns>
- I just love them! Not to mention that 'Small Gods' is the best critique of established religion I have ever read.....

not at all, what's hotter than a lady who goes feral every now and then :groucho:

absolutely, Pratchett's gods are among my favorites as well. Speaking of them, let's not forget Nuggan :)
