Terrible poll is terrible.

Of all the candidates, I have the greatest personal affinity for John Huntsman (I think I would be unlikely to vote for him over Obama, but I would certainly read all his position papers and entertain the idea).

Of all the possible candidates, as a Democrat, I am most afraid of Mitch Daniels, who has nerd buzz, conservative enough for the Tea Party but not a terrifying human at face value, and a nutcutter of a campaigner.

Also, who the hell is Miller?

Romney and Petraeus are sane people, I'm leaning Romney

Lets be realistic. Romney doesn't have a chance at beating Obama. The only candidate that does have a chance of beating Obama is the current GOP Frontrunner Ron Paul.

You forgot T-Paw. (Pawlenty)

Huntsman could be very interesting if he ran. I don't know alot about him but anyone who gets appointed ambassador to China can't be a wacko.(If he is, he is good at hiding it)

If I were to vote against Obama, I would vote for Gary Johnson as his political views are mostly in-line with me and his record as New Mexico's governor looks solid. Still, I highly doubt he will get the Republican nomination over the other nominees, especially due to his views on drug decriminalization.

Romney is a snake-oil salesman. I don't see why so many of you guys support someone who wears his arrogance on his sleeve.

Gary Johnson and Ron Paul are the only respectable people in this poll.

Good point.

the current GOP Frontrunner Ron Paul.
wait, what?

Honestly, I think we can already close the book on T-Paw. He's boring as hell, and he's an entire year to try and gain some sort of footing, but hasn't been able to poll above 5% anywhere. His run to the right isn't all that credible.

Huntsman is somewhat unfairly tagged with the "moderate" label I think...his record as Gov of Utah is actually pretty conservative (his pro-life credentials are better than anybody else in the field I think, for example)...he just isn't anti gay or environment.

Although born in Michigan, Mitt Romney escaped and eventually graduated from Brigham Young and Harvard Law. He was a Governor of Massachusetts and CEO of the troubled 2002 Winter Olympics, turning the games into a success despite previous controversy and 9-11. He's written a couple of books and probably has the best experience of any of the Republican candidates.

If the frontrunner GOP candidates remain batcrap crazy T-Paw might stand a decent chance. He isn't as bombast as Bachmann, but he is smart enough to know when to stay away from an issue (such as Creationism in schools) and has a decent enough track record. There have to be enough members of the GOP to not have been deluded by Bachmann (who recently compared our current tax rates to the Holocaust) and her ilk to see T-Paw as one of the few current candidates who might me able to hold his own against Obama.

Come on now, I thought this was the order of the day:

Every poll conducted shows that Paul is the only candidate capable of beating Obama.

Almost every poll that monitored the debate the other night showed Ron Paul as the winner. Even Glenn Beck and the major conservative radio talk shows are conceding Paul as the GOP Frontrunner now.

If Ron Paul is the frontrunner, then the GOP is screwed. Paul is too wacky.

Romney and Pawlenty are the only people currently running with any shot at it. Huckabee and Daniels both have a good shot at the nomination if they jump in. Huckabee is especially strong in my eyes, which makes his reluctance to run absolutely mystifying to me.

Ron Paul steals political oxygen from the marginally less crazy Gary Johnson. The Republican party doesn't have enough libertarian nutjobs to support two candidates. I'd love it Rand got involved, just for the family drama.

Who the hell is John Gault Tom Miller?

Donald Trump got absolutely pummeled this week. He never had an actual shot at the nomination, but it's going to get even harder for him to get semi-serious coverage. The real question is whether he stays in long enough that he has to disclose his financial records.

Sarah Palin would be absolutely fascinating to watch in the primaries, but she couldn't win. She's got a fanatic base of support, but a solid majority of Republicans won't vote for her. She can get a lot of people very worked up, but the math just doesn't work for her.

Newt Gingrich is like Sarah Palin without the fanatical base of support.

Herman Cain is an absolute joke.

Petraeus isn't running. He's stepping up as the new Director of the CIA, and by all accounts perfectly happy with the job.

Personally, I have no inclination to vote for any Republican. I might pay a little attention to what Hunstman is saying, but I found his decision to leave his post in China to compete in a primary that he can't win to be a little mystifying.

Ross Perot was actually out-polling President Bush and nominee Clinton in 1992. How many states did he win?

You will never see his long form. And short forms are a pain in the ass to get here. I have to get one for a state ID so I can take a trip to Ontario.

Not so fast - have we seen his long-form birth certificate and college transcripts?

Birth certificate from Michigan? That's like, an oxymoron - the aboriginies there have no written language.

You lose credibility when you try to lump in Pawlenty.
