Beta 13

It seems unrealistic for Kazimirec to add Jewish Quarters to the cities where no trace of Judaism is present. The wonder should either add them to the cities already with Judaism or spread Judaism with the Quarter. Also non-state religions should create great unhappiness among citizens -- I would say 2 of city citizens should be intolerant for 1 extra religion plus one additional unhappy face for the lack of religious freedom from citizens of that extra religion. We have enough happiness resources to keep things balanced. Nobody persecutes Jews in our games...

There is an acknowledged abundance of happiness, and if happiness pressure is increased somehow, perhaps the current level will be enough? I like the idea of having it spread Judaism, though.

I agree that if the Kazimierz gives Jewish quarters, it should give Judaism to all cities.

One possible bug with this is that the builder will convert to Judaism as soon as the building is built.

One other thing to note, Tigranes, is that a bug prevented the AI from building (or using) persecutors.

EDIT: @ezzler-

Tunisia wasn't important enough for vanilla RFCE. Also, I really don't like removing resources. RFC Sword of Islam has it, and it is REALLY annoying to have a city suddenly lose a resource for no apparent reason.

@ Sian-

Yes, unless you corrupt crusade it. Then nobody goes home (I think). This was done to reduce the frequency of a European Middle East.

I also think that Kazimierz could should be changed. It's also too powerful. (It will give 1 :culture: and +25% :gold: in each citiy effectively.)

I think this will be nice for it:
Judism is (much) more likely to spread into your cities. And when it spreads into your city, you automatically get a Jewish Quarter in it.

Sian: Ok, wasnt maybe such a good suggestion

Merijn: And since the building requires judaism you cant persecute once its there?

Respawns: Civs respawn a bit weak usually next to a powerful neighbour (the reason they collapse usually). If we gave respawners a powerful stability boost since the nation is full of revolution fevor and a sizeable army in the capital they might last longer?

Forgot about that. But I'm not sure if that realy is the case. IIRC, you can persecute a religion from a city, even if you have a building of that religion in it. (Otherwise it would be impossible to persecute, let's say, islam from a city, if it has a mosque of so.)

As far as I'm aware, persecutions also remove buildings.

That's why the Kazimierz is the only way of getting buildings without the corresponding religion.

Not in my game as Germany. Could you post a savegame?

No, I was saying that if the Kazimierz auto-spread Judaism, the builder might convert.

That is not currently the case.

I also think the the general quanity of economic wonders, if you can get multiple ones, is way overkill.

For instance, getting the Chateau Fontainbleu (I think) gives 2 gold per specialist. Combine this with wonders like Copernicus' Observatory, Pallazzo San Grigorio (or whatever gives free specialists), and Common Law, and you suddenly have a massive, and free, income per city.

Hi folks, sorry for abandoning the place for long, I've not finished the map making project.
I'll try to finish it though and upload it.

The only case when you cannot prosecute a religion from a city is if it has a religious wonder or shrine built there
This means the holy cities and about 6-8 wonders
In all other cases prosecution is possible, will remove the "simple" religious buildings

Yeah, usually I also feel that getting many of those late wonders is way overpowered
Not just these, there are quite a few other combinations which leads to an almost gamebreaking economic lead
The Kazimierz is also too powerful, like it was discussed a few posts above
Same for the banking corporations
Currently these are not balanced well at all IMO

Sounds great, thx!

I did a SVN game with Cordoba and found out that the combination of Alhambra + Organized religion (+50% and +100% GP generation) with all the wonders that Cordoba can build produces huge amounts of GPs. I have 6-8 GPs in my capital and already had 4 golden ages. Add the National epic for another +100%.

Note: I am attaching a autosave from Beta 13 (not SVN) that shows the player founding Protestantantism as Islamic Cordoba.

And here is a save from SVN 824 where Protestantism is founded by Orthodox Bulgaria
3Miro, can you look into this issue?

Hey guys, I took up RFCE again in a long time, and boy does this look nice. I've barely begun my first game as the English (decided to play as the Franks from the start), and I think I'm seeing more warmongering already, possibly because of 3miro's ai changes. Spain seems to have made solid headway into Cordoba, at the very least.

I'll let you guys know more as I go.

As always, good job and keep it up!

Edit: I'm enjoying the new mercenary system, it's a great change. But I keep getting notified that there are new mercs available when I don't see any. Why is that?

Playing as Byzantines in SVN and barbs capture/raze Antioch, my stability drops from +13 to 0. Why so drastic decrease?

very minor map tidbit, but could the river in northen Jutland (Denmark) change direction so it flows west to east?, its first in recent time (1825) that the Fjord (which it actually is) broke through in a flashflood
