Beta test: I'm IN!!!!

oh man!!...i wish i'd live in the States so i could be a Conquest beta tester...

I'm sooooo lucky it's incredible. You know the only kid in the class that doesn't win something? Last time we were 45 in the class and my teacher had 44 things to give away and I was the only one not getting something. But I was selected for the beta test of Diablo 2 which I thought truly sucked....

*pounds on Breakaway staff's door*

Let me in! Let me in! Let-me-iiiiiiiiinnnn!

I'll...try...*bursts into tears*

Good luck to all, though. :)

I'm in the United Kingdom and I'm in (a recommendation helped ;) )

I would fully expect Breakaway to take on-board alot more Europeans etc than were included in the admittedly smaller PTW beta-testing team.

I hope to see you successful applicants making a big contribution to the success of Breakaways venture :)

Damn...

Guess I better call the Baltimore County Police Department. :p

Gotta get pass security first. ;)

I'm in. Both Firaxis and Breakaway Games are right up the street from my university. Oh yeah, I had a 'recommondation' too. ;)

I'm in too. I guess my self-imposed Civ3 hiatus is about to end.

Good question for the beta testers... would anyone want to try a succession game or two along with all the other stuff we're going to need to do? I'd really think that would be a great way to kick the tires so to speak.

Congratulations to all! I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised, and am looking forward to it. I'm even more surprised, and feel even luckier, when I consider that some of you had "recommendations." Chieftess, as if you needed a recommendation. All you had to put on your application, among other things, was: 1) #2 poster at CFC; 2) one of the best moderators the Civ 3 community has ever known; and 3) CFC Civ 3 tournament champion. ;) See you guys on the other side of the NDA. :goodjob:

Who writes them, how do you get them, and who do you send them too? I obviously can't make this beta test (Somehow, even though I browse these forums every day, I missed the thread about the beta test), but this might be useful to know in the future.

It's when you know people in high places. :mischief:

Drat, Looks like I am not in :(.

I just hope that they would consider the rejected ones to be able to Beta Test any Patches that they may develop.

Having a "recommendation" is almost always a good thing. :)

I second the motion about those chosen making a big contribution.

I didn't make it

Maybe it would have helped if I signed up :D

I suppose if I had taken the time to look up my system info it would have helped my chances. But, my civ-playing computer is not currently hooked up the internet, and is in a different room, which makes it work to fill in all those fields. Maybe I would have made it then.

That's part of testing too. If everyone put down, "Dell Pentium 4 system", that's not going to be of much help when a hidden sound card problem comes up. One of the things they're looking for is a variety of systems (old and new). That's a good way to judge the minimum and recommended system to play the game with.
