Betting and Speculation - The "Entirely Separate Hypercube" Civ!

So are we now discussing the fact that the thread on reddit contains details, as opposed to the details themselves? :crazyeye:

And I love everyone going meh clearly they suck I'll roll them over early. Oh will you now? The fledgling nation based on having a RIDICULOUSLY UBER CAPITAL and twice as much trade (therefore money) as you is going to be a walkover? :p

The fun is gone now that it is known.

The Shoshone sound interesting, but I really can't picture Venice being all that strong of a civ with those limitations. Sounds like they'll be a really easy early conquer for me.

Honestly I think you all are massively underestimating the power of double trade routes.

This makes me wonder...how far do certain people know certain things in advance?

During the speculation thread era, Indonesia and Venice speculation threads were left to wander. Other threads containing civs not in BNW were promptly shut down.

Surely it's just a coincidence, but interesting nevertheless

I seriously thought the Venetians would be given a crossbow unit.

Will the Serene Merchants of Venice have serene names, such as Steve Jobs?

He's already in as a Great Merchant.

Pretty much, it also said the Axeman was a barbarian chariot archer replacement. I'm not sure if that part is legit though, it seems unlikely.

So who is the mysterious axe man then? I don't think a pathfinder scout replacement would have a military formation and a tomahawk as their symbol...

I believe one person said the tomahawk unit was a Barbarian Chariot Archer replacement.

Yes, that is what was said

Maybe. My Italian States history is a little blurry, but having a "Merchant" UU? Lame.

I have to agree. I mean even if that merchant can puppet a CS, that makes Venice a weak Austria.

  • It has to wait until a Great Merchant spawns.
  • It can only puppet, instead of annexing.
  • It can never found cities at all.

The double trade routes must be game-breaking, otherwise we already have Venice if we start a game as Austria and just tell ourselves to never expand.
