Betting and Speculation - The "Entirely Separate Hypercube" Civ!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there were posters in firaxis hq in a video there were posters of BNW leaders and unique units. They'd turned over the posters of the unrevealed civs, at the time including Indonesia and morocco. There were 5 unique units supposedly hidden, minus the kris swordsman and Berber cavalry that leaves 3 for the remaining 2 and doesn't fit with these supposed builds..,

But there were no pictures of the Nau. And (from what I could understand) the Siege tower had two pictures - one for the tower, one for the men pushing it. There is no 1:1 relationship between artwork and UUs.

It's still totally possible to have the last two remaining civs to have two UUs.

But the Unique Great Merchant, being a Great Person and not a regular unit, might have been filed somewhere else, for all we know. At least it's not unthinkable. So I wouldn't say that's definitive either.

Bias have a good chance of failing, I had numerous starts with Boudicca having NO nearby forest tiles for ages.
Yes, if there is no suitable start location that fits your start bias, you'll get a random starting location. But coastal bias should be considerably easier to fulfill than forest, and otherwise, I guess you just roll a new start (or curse your luck and take it as an extra challenge).

Screenshot it in case you accidentally close it or the power goes out. Don't lose the precious!

 I'm not sure how to deal with the ring...

Perhaps's Venice's Great Merchant doesn't have any new artwork. Also, I don't think there was a Nau in the posters, so perhaps not all the UU have artwork there.
EDIT: Obviously, my internet goes out for 30 seconds, and I get double-ninja'ed.

Play against Venice on a skirmish map with no CS on deity. Milk those achievements (if you haven't already).

I wouldn't bother with Tradition. I'd go straight into Honor. It's the only way to expand until you can spit out a few Great Merchants.

Fair enough, I'm still very dubious though.

Mostly because its supposed to be a completely seperate hypercube civ. assuming normal civs are regular cubes, this supposed Venice is more of a square. A puppet empire isn't a different way to play, it's just limiting your options to one existing way to play. Why would anyone call this build their favourite civ?

Man, I should have waited. Lonely little Venice. I'm gonna start nuking those Merchants towards the end. It's the only way to be sure.

I leave for a few hours and this thread expands by over a hundred posts or more already.

Anyhow, I'm still quite skeptical myself - I don't know where or how the leak is getting the information from, and whether such information is even reliable. Once more, I'm holding my breath.

Yeah, that's my thought. Remember that the guy who said Venice is his favorite civ has Poland as his second favorite civ due to the power of free social policies. I don't think he's the kind of guy to pick a crappy civ just for the challenge of it. :p

The Venice being proposed here just sounds like a more limited Austria. Not exactly the most pleasing idea.

I think you are taking the hypercube comment too literally. A civ that can't build settlers is just about the most extreme you can do within the civ game context, so that might well be what they refered to as the "hypercube". It will certainly force you to play radically different from what you would otherwise do.

I know we can't be certain, but I think this is legit. It fits everything we've seen so far, and it fits the hints we've gotten along the way from various sources, including that very early article that mentioned a "pro" civ which already back then started speculations about some OCC mechanism. Of course, that can also be what has given the inspiration if this is in fact a hoax, but ...

Let me try six degrees of separation to figure out who the civ is.

1) "...it’s in an entirely separate hypercube."
2) Hypercubes are four dimensional.
3) Fourth dimension came from Einstein's theory.
4) Einstein was a jew.
5) Jews come from Israel.
6) Israel is confirmed. :crazyeye:

Am I in another dimension?

Am I in another dimension?

There is a most serene fifth dimension most serenely beyond that which is most serenely known to the most serene man. It is most serenely a most serene dimension as most vast as most serene space and as most serenely timeless as most serene infinity. It is most serenely the most serene middle ground between most serene light and most serene shadow, between most serene science and most serene superstition, and it most serenely lies between the most serene pit of man's most serene fears and the most serene summit of his most serene knowledge. This is most serenely the most serene dimension of most serene imagination. It is most serenely a most serene area which we most serenely call the MOST SERENE REPUBLIC OF VENICE Zone.
