Betting and Speculation - The "Entirely Separate Hypercube" Civ!

So they really did give Venice that purple and cream from the Wikivenetian Flag... Oh dear...

And an odd, not very Venetian-looking lion too:

Good evening sir, do you want a regular room or the penthouse? I think im gonna buy the whole city. :D I love them

Am I the only person who is ridiculously excited about both of these Civs? :mischief:

I thought I couldn't care less about the last 2 Civs since Morocco and Indonesia were announced, but both the Shoshone and Venice sound amazing! The Merchant of Venice reference is pretty awesome too ;)

It's a good reference, but horrible name.
"A Venetian Merchant of Venice has been born in the Venetian city of Venice"

(Or "A serene Venetian serene Merchant of serene Venice has been serenely born in the serene Venetian serene city of serene Venice...) :P

I am definitely with you. I always prefer playing the quirky civs and trying to figure out the best route to victory. Sweden and Austria were fun civs IMO and Indonesia along with Venice will be the first Civs i am going to play:) Plus finally the Great Merchant sees some loving:)

Shoshone looks slightly boring though.

I just love that they're both so different. A Civ that can't build cities! A Galleass replacement! A Scout replacement that can pick a benefit from ruins!

Honestly, I think I'm going to really struggle with picking the first Civ to play as now (after New France, of course)...

Am I the only one that feels they weren't very inspired for the last 2 civs ? At least concerning the units ? I mean, for Venice, we have "Merchant of Venice", while for the second is "Great Galleass ...".
The Shoshones are disappointing ... Yeah, the pathfinder is fun but ... once the start of the game is over, what do they have left ? I feel they have nothing outstanding ...

I'm a fan too. Looking forward to giving them all a try tbh bit will probably try the Shoshone first out of the new bunch. Also still waiting to hear if there have been any changes to my beloved England, not that I think they need any. (Apart form changing the start bias so the they don't get plonked on an inland sea! Meh)

To me, going for Civs as obscure as the Shoshone and Venice, with comparatively wacky uniques, suggests not that they were running out of ideas, but that they were holding something back... so perhaps a third expansion or another DLC run may indeed yet be on the cards.

'Merchant of Venice' is a nice little reference IMO - and what's wrong with the Great Galleass other than (possibly) the name?

I think this information wasn't supposed to be released yet,oh well

Venice looks great! It will be huge at culture, and with all the trade routes, money will flow easily.

Although, now we have another civ that has a negative bonus in the UA, alongside India.

I'm pretty sure this leak broke all kinds of NDA agreements and his editor is going to be in a lot of trouble over this.

The editor either misunderstood the NDA agreement or maelstrom's questions about it. I have no doubt whatsoever that the civilopedia is under NDA because we've never seen screenshots from it.

Sure takes the winds out of their sails ahead of the big reveal. If I was working in the marketing department of 2k I would be furious right now.

I don't work there though so I'm happy to share in everyone elses guilty pleasure over this leak :p

This is my hope too. What other civs would be gimmes for a third expansion? Sioux, Kongo, Sumer...that's all I can think of. Although Vietnam, Israel, Canada, Australia, Khmer are all possibilities, and I'm sure I'm missing plenty.

To be honest, Venice was always going to be the big one of the reveal, and they've been hyping it as such, and we've already known that it was coming for a long time now, and had some hint of Italy/Venice since April.

Hey Hey :)

Restriction about civilopedia is
"· Please do not capture or post any footage of the Civilopedia (this contains information that is not yet revealed)."

and others restrictions ;)

^This. I think the maelstrom and his editor are wrong as wrong can be. Azazell has been there, done that.
