Betting and Speculation - The "Entirely Separate Hypercube" Civ!

I just hope that it won't cause any legal issues with anyone. The possibility that someone simply forgot to remove these from civilopedia (or forgot to tell us that they were forbidden) makes me doubt but not much to launch anyway:)

No worries! Finally we can stop speculating and discuss the two great new civs instead. I'm particularly fond of Shoshone already.

And kudos to our member Menzies for nailing the Venice colours and thereby the civ itself. Brilliant! :)

Note that Venice doesn't get double yield from trade routes—it gets TWICE THE NUMBER of trade routes. That is bananas. You could have ten ITRs pulling in gold and ten domestic routes turning Venice into the tallest of tall cities.

By the way, a few comments from me.

I started with Prince and played King too (what I played in Civ5) and I think the difficulty is rather close. However, city states are sooo good because you can get more delegates. And when you get more delegates, you can pick yourself as host. When you do that, you get more delegates. Then... You get the idea:)

Once you get strong in congress, it feels noone can stop you.

I like the whole tourism thing though, it added some depth to tourism and more reason to have culture even when you don't go for a culture victory, not to mention more depth to picking how you spend your culture. I'm sure the community will find the best ways for higher difficulties, but still, there is choice.

I also like the diplomatic option increase due to world religion-world ideology thing and the diplomatic relations due to ideology.

Trade routes are again a good addition, especially the ability to send food-production to your cities (also, new quests for CSs, yey).

Only thing I kept thinking negative is the amount of choice in Congress. I mean, there are many options but you run out of some of them fast, especially if nations meet early and you don't want hostility.

That being said, I'm definitely no Civ expert. As I said, I play King. (I guess I can go one step up) I'll translate my preview if I can.

PS: I cant recall if it's in screenshots, I noticed this later. Merchant of Venice also has an ability whose explanation reads "double trade mission bonus", if memory serves. I'm not sure if it exists in Great merchants (maybe triggered in certain conditions) or a constant thing.

Ah, it's all over. I can't help but feel a bit of sadness for this anticlimactic ending...

Now we categorically know we have Venice and Shoshone and their details, so there isn't going to be any more spitting of venom about hypotheticals, it's pretty clear that they are both awesome civs. The Pathfinder unit is sweet, especially a big early game explorer.

And as for Venice, it looks amazing. I was worried, by all the scary conjecture, but it's a risk of becoming my favourite civ. Venice is going to be a cultural and economic BEAST, double trade routes and quick as you like National Wonders?! Flooded with gold and culture, and is going to have no problem buying up units to serve it's needs. Venice obviously the hypercube, making use of the new trade routes mechanic to epic effect. I am happy. :woohoo:

I'd love to see more of the Civilopedia—do you have screenshots of the new French ability or the Chateau improvement? Were any of the other old civs changed?

What's up with all the different styles for leader art?

I'm guessing multiple artists with their own styles, These two seem to be from the guy/gal that made Pedro and Al Mansur.

Venice look fun to play, but I hate the thematic feel and restrictions.

Hey, Polish reviewer I hear about? :) Hello there!

I asked a few times to my editor but we haven't been informed of any restrictions at all.

Hey Hey :)

Restriction about civilopedia is
"· Please do not capture or post any footage of the Civilopedia (this contains information that is not yet revealed)."

and others restrictions ;)

1) As Venice, if you meet a city state giving out Conquistadors... they are your new BFF ;)

2) Choosing your own bonus and choosing an upgrade could lead to some very interesting semi-UU archers. Taking survivalism, then manually upgrading to an archer could give you some ranged units that are fantastic at holding the line.

Yes, I figured that, but I really think it's unseemly.
