[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

First I'd like to thank you for the recognition you gave me on the readme and first post. It's really cool because HitM has become my hobby.

As for 2.01 :goodjob:

It's running pretty smoothly so far, and the interface is beautiful.

Changing the Terra Cotta Army to a free Drill I is a great idea.

Of course a little red goes a long way, and I got some eyestrain reading the negotiation page with it's red on red in my last 4 hour session, but I'm not saying it needs to be changed for everyone. I can use Drew's fix.

Those Combat I legions come on kinda strong, that was a big surprise.:eek:

Seige towers were perhaps my favorite addition to HitM. A specialised tool that the A.I. wasn't afraid to use.

"Sire! The barbarians are approaching with seige towers, we must fight them in the field!"

Offensively I enjoyed having a few in my spearhead with CR promotions, to take out or weaken a highly promoted longbow or musket ( Take this, Sitting Bull!"). Certainly an army of them would be overpowered, but limited in number like missionaries, inquisitors, etc. They fill a role nicely while adding strategic depth. I guess that's not a big deal, in that adding units to the game is something I want to learn to do anyway. I just thought that it was something that worked really well.

I must be going now, but keep up the great work!

Can you post a screenshot Ewink? Interested to see whats different on yours...

Yup. BTW Thanks for the tip on how to change the color. :) Soon as I have time I will do that!

As you can see, the smaller the text, the hard it gets to read. :( And while the fact I am getting older might have a little to do with that, I'd still like the original font. :lol:

Do this for me... next time you build a city and you're trying to spread a religion, post up the PythonErr log file.

Will do, maybe after the weekend now (maybe pre sunday's football marathon)

No probs on tip............you do have some strange looking fonts there, looks like horrible early 80's "computer writing"....I'd guess the font style is probably contolled in one of those .thm files I mentioned earlier, maybe try a search on this forum to find the exact one (good luck)...don't know why your's are any different though, a bit weird.

I made a huge mistake last night. I deleted probably my best game ever before even finishing it :(. Good thing though is that I noticed HiTM to be extremely stable. I got to 1904 AD and didn't suffer a crash due to memory failure with normal playing. You did a great job, Grave.

For what it's worth, I noticed that I had the "Adventure Subtitles" font in my fonts directory (mods/HITM/resource/fonts/) so I started to search the thm files for that. Found it in the Civ4Theme_Common.thm and replaced all instances of "Adventure Subtitles" with "arial".

with SF_CtrlTheme_Civ4_Control_Font
{
// GFont .Size0_Normal =

GFont("Adventure Subtitles", "Regular", 11, GFlags(GFontFeature,

GFC_FONT_ALPHA));

to

with SF_CtrlTheme_Civ4_Control_Font

GFont("arial", "Regular", 11, GFlags(GFontFeature,

Sorry about the weird formatting. I hate notepad. Anyway, there were about 10 lines of that. I post it so you can use whatever font you want! Although why anyone would want to use anything besides Arial or Tahoma is beyond me. :)

I wonder though, why I seemed to have that set like that and you didn't. You're running 2.01, yeah?

To me it's a big deal... it's no different then the previous versions of the Main Menu screen.

Can you post up a screenshot as to what your main menu looks like, please?

Ah, you just gave me a fantastic idea with this, Drew!

Now I can create multipule Main Menu backgrounds available by manipulating the CIV4ArtDefines_Inferface.xml file.

I'll try that later. :)

I'm REPEATLY getting this error, no menus show up.. can't select anything. Annoying, waste of a few hours.

I've reinstalled the game/mod everything and this keeps happening just with this mod. Can't select anything. Then sometimes some city menus and what not get stuck up after reverting to a old save and I can't select anything out of it either.

I had the complete opposite. Menus kept piling on on top of one another; city screens, build menus, unit orders, random events, the list goes on...

I eventually got them to stop and return to normal by clicking on the technology bar.

P.S. Does anyone know how to get the GAU-[Insert-Some-Random-Number] Cannon Tech???

So where does it go? Whenever you do anything like this, PLEASE put the path where the file goes. Not all of us are as familiar with the files as you are...

Hey Grave,

I noticed that Casimir and Sobieski's diplomacy music both have Willem-tags. See CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml.

I've changed them with their correct tags.

I had the same thing. I was going great as the Romans, then suddenly everything started slowing up and then the interfaces stopped working.

Also, I encountered a very odd bug. I was playing normay, then the UI started to lag. By this I mean that when you enter a city screen, the city screen interface stayed with you and my screen grew crowded as the city screen became the regular screen. It eventually went back to normal, but it was very annoying while it lasted. All the unit interface buttons were gone, meaning that I had to use hotkeys that didn't always work.
Aside from that, GREAT MOD!!!!!!!!
