Beyond the Sword PitBoss (Hamachi)

Is it just me or is this map just infested with Barbarian?? they are just all over the place. roaming the land in groups!!!

I'm leaving for Europe on the 22nd.

Will be there over a week.

I am debating leaving the game up. Or simply taking it offline for a week.

Here in Dallas, power surges and outages are a fact of life.. We'd be lucky to make it through.

But getting 7-8 more turns would be nice.

OK I have decided to leave it up. However the bad news is that my Inlaws will be staying here while I'm gone. So who knows what chaos will happen to the system! (they're 70-odd)

If it goes offline, post here and I will re-set the game when I get back from Europe. Cool?

I just had to make an executive decision.

In the next game I will be hosting, there will be no random events.

One of our players has just been attacked by a stack of Philistines 3 spaces from the capital and 2 spaces from 2nd city.

These barbarian uprisings are the exact reason I am turning random events off. They are too strong, too early.

I am resetting the game to before the turn so as to regenerate the random events ....I hope this works. Please report any similiar uprisings so I can fix them, thanks.

I expect that the same event will occur. Sometimes the stack does not attack. But, generally the random events suck. There are more bad events than good ones, and some of them early in the game can be absolutely devestaing. Late in the game it doesn't matter much; but early it does.

When does this game start up again?

Hello All. Will be starting it up this morning!

Sorry for delay. (I've been sleeping...alot)

I think I have a better way for us all to be on the same page system file wise.

I am going to load this game as a Mod. The only thing the Mod contains are the the 3.13 Patch fix that I am using.

So for those of you in other games you can retain your 3.13 in pristine state.

Here is the changelog of the patch fix 1.05

Fixed bug where culture/espionage would not display for building popups
- Fixed bug where spies would be ejected from a square when declaring war
- Fixed bug that caused the AI to trade for resources it already had (appears as grossly uneven trades)
- Refixed trade bug
- Refixed culture/espionage display bug
- Fixed bug with Warlords attaching to units when the Great General is part of a selection group
- Prevented new Colonies from overwriting previously existing Civs
- No longer displays new Colony message if player hasn't met Master Civ
- Workers on Transports no longer perform capture of cities (thereby displacing all other units) when city is captured
- Units considered "unsuitable" for city defense will no longer be prevented from healing in cities
- No longer able to base an unlimited number of air units in vassal's cities
- Can found Corporations under Mercantilism
- Vassal's spies will no longer be "caught" in your territory
- Amount of time worked taken into consideration by city plot selection (thanks SevenSpirits)
- The Vassal of a Capitulating Civ is freed before peace treaty
- Mouse-over for Worker actively working a plot no longer counts Worker twice
- Automated Workers will no longer idle when railroading is possible
- Mouse-over for Join City now displays extra bonuses for Great People
- Vassals freed by Capitulating Master no longer refuse to talk
- Privateers can only enter team members' or vassals' cities
- Automated Workers will no longer idle in cities within 2 squares of a hostile border
- Refixed Vassal/capitulation
- AIs less likely to build Executives if they can't afford to use them or already have sufficient
- Buildings that grant both heathiness and unhealthiness will display both instead of neither in building popups
- Vassals can no longer be their Master's worst enemy
- Espionage ratio for humans now displayed in score tooltip (thanks morbus)
- Improved worker threat assessment from units able to move multiple squares
- Spies no longer interrupt their mission when moving next to an enemy unit
- Fixed AI turn slowdown caused by change to worker threat assessment
- Relationship penalty for declaring war on a friend checks if Civs are at war
- Altered previous worker threat assessment check so it's less useful, but more efficient

As you can see there are some useful things there.

To Install this as a Mod just unzip the following download to

C:\Users\Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\MODS

(or wherever your BTS MODS are kept)

Here is the download.

If you can't be bothered please notify me so I can turn your nation to AI.

Sorry for the delay while I was in Europe, the system was turned off almost as soon as I was out the door!

Why are we using this mod?
Who wrote it?
Being a programmer myself I know when outside people mess with my code it sometimes has far reaching side effects that totally screw things up beyond the what they were support to fix in the first place.
It is almost always best to just let the source of the code handle bug fixes.

No mod for me. Count me out.
to much trouble and extra work.
hamachi, mod whats next: change the game to counterstrike?

If Sonny is out I am out too.
Too many AI already in this game.

Sonny I'm already running those fixes for you all. But we get file mismatches.

Sorry to see you go.

PS I really liked Amsterdam

I'm out too. I'm not going to run any mod written by some phantom. I'm in several games where the patch has caused "file mismatch" warning messages; but they run just fine. v3.13 has serious repercussion for real-time games; but there is no problem with pitboss, either warlords or BtS.

you dont have to run the patch to be able to play in the game...

As long as both of you have the offical 3.13 patch, then you can all still play. In games that i play for 3.13 I get a version mismatch due to the fact that I have the glance tab on for SP games but I have had no problems playing games.
