Just ahead- there in the moonlight.
Ok, imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger played James Bond- not just from now but imagine he played Bond in ALL the Bond movies made to date.

What great Arnie-type lines could have graced the screen if the big man had been playing 007?

Ifm no Bond aficionado so I can only think of one for a start. Donft recall the name of the film, but Roger Moore fills some villain full of heroin and leaves him to die. Now if it were Arnie he could turn to the villain just as he was leaving and say-

"Hi for now"

Any othersH

He would be pressed hard to explain where his german/austrian accent would come from. Isn't Bond supposed to be british and british only?

Unfortunately Arni is dubbed by another actor for German speaking market. So we only hear him speak, when watching an English language version of his movies.

If you heard him talk German at some event, you would not believe, that this is his mother tongue. He has such a strong American accent mixed with his regional Austrian accent, that you can hardly understand him.

For one thing Cubby Broccoli would have been pelted on the streets by Bond fans, (YES, it was a series of books which started off the movies), with things akin to broccoli, but very big and very painful (ouch):punch:

Don't you find that anoying? I can't stand dubbed movies, unless it's and chines Kung-fu movie from the 80 - then it's a part of the charm :) (But to the tanx of DVD we can now see them with orginal speach and subtitles witch is a bit better.)

It s not working here. The closest he comes is True Lies, and that is not very Bondish. Besides Bond is not British, he's Scot.

Are you sure Bond is Scottish? I know Connery and Brosnan are, but I thought the Bond character was British...

Bond is Scottish, because the real life British Intelligence Officer on whom Ian Fleming based his stories on was Scottish;)

I hate it. But not only movies, also TV shows etc are all dubbed. I would rather see a movie in cinema than on TV, simply becaues translations are crap and the same voice actors are used for different movie actors (though not in the same movie). Eg. Gerard Depardieu and Bruce Willis have the same voice.

Also some shows are dubbed worse than others. "Married with Children" has not only a bad translation, but it also one of the worst examples for lip synch.

Actually its only in movies he speeks like that. In real life he has a normal California accent.

Eh, if his accent would be too hard to get past, he could be dubbed over with whoever you wanted.

It's happened to him before... though that was a while ago. :mischief:

Brosnan is Irish not Scottish.

The Bond character comes from London I believe, not Scotland.

I believe this is grounds for war. James Bond can only be played by actors from either UK or Ireland. Next you will be saying that an American should play him.

Re: the character as in the book, I'm ashamed to say that he is actually half-scot and HALF-FRENCH (!!!) which is why he spoke fluent french, and why he was assigned to France as a spy in WWII.

Read Casino Royale for this, it kicks ass. I still wish someone would make a serious period and W adaptation of this as a movie...

However, it is true that Bond lives in London (like many Scots, Mr. President! Otherwise, I wouldn't have come to be ;) )

Not quite true. George Lazenby, On Her Majesty's Secret Service 1969, was an Australian.

And Timothy Dalton, has any nation claimed responsibility for him and his crimes against Bond movies?

Trouble was that George Lazenby was a crap Bond. This is why you should be British to play him. Oh and screw Dalton, I want to know what the hell the attraction is that people have for Brosnan, I keep hearing people say he's a good actor, NO WAY! Its like watching a peice of wood on screen! The guy has all the emotion of a security guard at a rock concert for gods sake!

Ok, sorry, rant over. :)

As long as Bennet from "Commando" was the villian,
an Arnie Bond movie would get my money!
