^ You don't need oil for cavs. You do with tanks however.
Anyway, how did you get that far in your first game . I didn't even get to the industrial age in my first 5 or 6 games.

Wanting to avoid a flip of a city on a continent that I was attacking I abandoned a captured city and built another in it's place the same turn.

The downside here was that I had moved a handsome stack of bombers to that city. Now I don't. Doh! :hammer2:

Leaving 2 full armies of cavalry in a newly conquered city, just so it can flip, and take my armies... Or do they just die? I don't even know how it works. But I lost my two armies!

This is why I stopped playing Civ III and went to Civ IV instead, I absolutely HATED it when I'd capture a city, have a ton of troops there to stop the resistance and then STILL lose it via culture flip.:mad:

I don't think it would have been as big of a deal if it just kicked your units out to your territory (or even send them way back to your capital so they can't easily attack again), but it destroys all the units you had, which would sometimes completely cripple the entire army and possibly ruin the entire game.

Oh dear god, a 6 year bump. Why, oh, why did I have to be reminded my of 12 year old self.

or use communism and whip them and add workers to add your own population
or not defend the city until you've eliminated the culture around it.

Building my capital city next to a vulcano and then later build wonders there.

In this picture the Indians demonstrate why one should not do that...

Delhi is the big stone rubble next to the southern volcano.

Giving away the city with Bach's Cathedral in it when trying to keep under the domination limit.

I had a large Sid Histographic attempt earlier this spring where I messed up the pillaging/trading trick somehow. Of course I've made dumber blunders in some sense, but I had spent well over 100 hours on the Large Sid Histographic game.
