BirdNES 3: Discussions & Questions

Might be a good idea to read up on each individual state and get to know India in 1490. To play a NES properly, you need to be pretty well-steeped in your nation - and you can't expect everyone to give you things on a silver plate.
We've got our own nations to handle - and BJ has a NES to run

I recommend Bengal. They have Sher Shah Suri showing up in a couple decades and he wipes the floor with the Mughals.

Where are the Mughals? I thought they had India? Anyway I want to be a Sultan so a Muslim state please.
You got good advice from the other responses. Read a bit and take a day or two to decide. :)

Kraz, you have truly progressed. You have already procrastinated on your orders and pestered the mod about the ETA. :)

You are a vet already!

That's... not quite true, actually, even leaving aside the point that Sher Shah Suri's fate was a long and contrived one, and so far from assured to be carried out here. Sher Shah Suri is currently four years old. Historically he would become a political adventurer and a mercenary general/prince, would work for the Mughals, would help them fight their way into Delhi, then would overthrow them and become the Sultan of Delhi - he had nothing to do with Bengal except for conquering and ransacking it later on.

Not that Bengal isn't nice; it is a very rich and heavily populated region. But it's more a prize than a contender for Indian predominance. So personally, I would recommend the Sultanate of Gujarat; a nice, militant state with good potential for military modernisation and possibly complete predominance, currently at its height under the enlightened reign of Sultan Mahmud I Begada.

He served the Mughal emperor but he ruled Bihar and revolted against the Emperor and I was under the impression his empire was based in the whole Bengal region where he drew most of his support and strength from.

Doesn't seem so, he conquered it relatively late. After he took over he ruled from Delhi, and just like any other Sultan of Delhi his main support base was his multi-ethnic (but mainly Pushtun) army. Prior to that, his main connections were in Bihar where he was born and which he indeed ruled for Padishah; but while close, that's not quite Bengal.

In any case, he has absolutely nothing to do with the current sultans of Bengal.

Okay I guess I will be Gujarat since the only thing I could find on Bengal was about tigers LOL.

Why are some nations islam, and others muslim? Whats the difference?

The spelling?

Just seems odd Beej would choose to label them almost as if they were different religions...

Islam = the religion
Muslim = a practitioner of Islam.

But surely the slave king of the Mamluk knew this as he is one who bows his head to Mecca and is not a servant of Shaitan and an imposter on his own throne?

I'm sorry all.. I am yet to read up an get IC for this game.. being ill and a low level of interest does not help. I'm sure it will grow after update 1.

Haha, just a friendly poke. But you really should know the difference as words, although I don't think there's any difference in game. Pay more attention to Sunni/Shi'a should any divide occur there.

Hardly slaves anymore... :p The Mamluk dynasty has been there for nigh on 200 years.

Does anyone want to trade with Gujarat?

The Gujarat Sultanate
Please read the rules on trade. Regional trade is automatic and built into the game. There is no need to request it. Long distance trade is more complicated and established through systematic effort. You do not have knowledge of, nor contact with, every nation. Imagine you are in the late 15th C and try to play accordingly. :)

I will fix the Muslim/Islam inconsistency in the new stats.

Thankyou Beej. Wanting to know who is friendlier to me!
