Blut Und Ehre II

From: Greece
To: Spain

May our Greek adventures pass Gibraltar, too?

starting update.

OOC: dont worry if you have already sent explorers, spain has not made official any orders to halt any ships in Gibraltar so far, so all will get through.

UPDATE XXXVI
1480 AD

Dawn of a New Era.
The first ships have sailed !, french, greeks and mamluke explorers and adventurers have gone to attempt to prove that the world is perhaps round and not flat. Soon the lucky ones shall return w/ routes and maps of suitable locations for colonisation.

Rush for the East.
Byzantium and the Ottomans have sent their scouts to find good places to settle.
Some of the lucky land explorers have already found good locations (pointed out by the flags), in these locations settlement can be started by paying a colonist charter.
the rest of the explorers might find other locations but it depends mostly in their luck.

Austria gains ROP throug spanish gibraltar.
The greek and mamluke explorers have also passed thanks to the fact that the spanish have not placed its navy to restrict anyones path. Perhaps signing a ROP will guarantee passage in the future... (breaking a ROP before its expiration will make your nations stability suffer)

***---IMPORTANT---***
Some have already sent explorers and had success.
If your explorers had success, a flag will appear in the map w/ your nations color, this means that piece of land is claimed territory and you can start to settle it by paying the colonist charter.
after you pay the colonist charter, migrants and colonisers will start to arrive, the borders of the new territory will be set, but you will not gain control or income of it until a village appears in it.
(also you can only give raw directions to the land explorers, sea explorers have absolutely no idea where they are heading )

Story:

A group of explorers -- Moorish, they seemed, from the western territories of the empire -- had approached Sultan Hasdrubal not long after the announcement of new naval technological developments. They seemed to have been hired by a rich elite of the empire, and were asked to report of the Sultan and offer themselves as the first exploration party to seek out new lands.

"Your bravery is commendable," Hasdrubal had replied. "Your names shall be remembered in our history for such a courageous offer."

And so they had left Carthago Novo's port, armed with supplies, maps of the known world, and most everything else needed to sail ong distances. The Sultan had seen them off that fateful day, and he prayed for Allah to guide them safely to new lands.

It has been years since then. The status of the explorers is unknown, but there is forever hope in the Sultan's mind and heart that they shall return safely. If they do not, however, he has ordered a monument chiselled out of the finest marble to be constructed. What shall be etched into the monument shall be determined at the end of the century...or when the explorers return. Whichever come first.

Until that time came, more explorers would be commissioned, more cities would be formed, and more development of land technology would be made. The Mamluke Empire would go on.

Diplomacy:

To: Spain
From: The Mamluke Empire

You drive a hard bargain...but we shall accept such a deal for a ROP through the Straits of Gibraltar.

Orders:

1) Send out another group of explorers [5 PP].

2) Give payment to Spain for the Right of Passage through the Straits of Gibraltar. [5 PP]

3) Continue development into Land Expansion Technology. [14 PP]

Errors, Reminders, and Other Stuff:

Stalin, it should say that Naval Expansionism is possible for my empire, rather than Land Expansionism. ^-^

Sultun Ahmed looked towards the bright future that shined on the Ottoman Empire. Two of the expeditions had already reported back home and claimed land for their Sultun. To the west of Jerusalam lay a land of poor herders, tring to live their lives as best they could. They were uneducated and under no nationality. The explorers looked at these people in amazement. They were immediatly given the term Sauds. The Sauds would soon be part of the Ottomen Empire.

To the south, the explorers were sent to the ancient lands of Sheba. The area was an ancient land of wealth and prosperity. The present people opf sheba were nothing more then herders and shepers. The Sultun was upset when he heard the news. He wanted to try and regain the old prestege of Sheba. He ordered colonists to teach the locals Islam and to rebuild the pots and riches lost in days old.

Meanwhile Sultun Ahmed was worried by the Byzantines. Although no military buildup was taking place, they were trying to outpace the ottomans in othermeans, economic and exploration. As a result, the Sultun ordered the construction of the Grand ottoman Fleet. It would be built from the shipyards of Jerusalam and Troy, and would try and rival the other Meditarannian fleets.

ORDERS:

Send out colonists to the explored lands. Tell them to spread Islam and in Sheba to try and find any old riches. (14 PP)

Build 5 squadrens in the meditarannian(20 PP)

Originally Queen Elissa came from a small village in Eastern Macedonia. Her father was the Marquess of the province and she has noble blood in her veins. She lived in the village of Komotini until she was 12. Then the King of Greece visited the village. His wife had just died and he was searching for a new one. Although he was older then 60 he enjoyed the beutifull Elissa and asked her father if he might marry her. The father attracked by the richnes of the monarch happily agreed. After a wonderfull wedding the couple lived together for 3 years. Then the King died a sudden death. Evil voices say that the little Queen was involved in his death (The King fell down the 255 steps of the observation tower of the royal castle in Athen) but those who dared to doubt the Queen that the frail legs of the King were the cause, could saw their tongues roasted on the next royal party.

Now the Elissa was the ruler of Greece and she hadn´t forgot her poor native place. Much money was invested in the small village and it was named Ellissos in honour of the Queen.

Orders:
-send 3pp to Spain (the bloodsucking *****)
-upgarde the Macedonian village to a city (10pp)
-send another exploration party (5pp)
-bank the rest (1pp)
