Boff-04 Nice Hat! (Link, Monarch, Cont)

... Uhm, I halted the unit prod to get unis online, sort of. I hope that's okay. We should still be strong enough to take out Khan if we want to.

Preturn:1475 AD

Ok this is a no screen shot report from liq on account I changed the hot key for taking screens and well my reflexes didn;t keep up with the change... UG. Think I'll change the hotkey back.

Hehe so wow, just wow about 5 settled GG's. No wonder khan had 3 promos on everything haha. I notice liberalism is in 6 turns bleeding 185 gold a turn with 1029 in saved..... a bit short, so I look to joao to help a buddy out.

<joao gifting us 60 gold>

Thanks dude. still not enough so I pull this as well...

<trading a health resource for 4 gold a turn>
ok a little better.

Swap a few builds around as I need to taoanize brrown and Portland. Washington is a good place since it's stagnant healthy and working on a duct hehe.

I 2 pop whip Houston's granary and slot a courthouse afterward. this town has so much food, it's sick.

okie looking good.

[1]1480 AD
Seattle celebrates WTH day for Liq's first turn and a few buildings finish, including Bentley's health issues Harborized.

[2]1485 AD
Boston Finishes its theatre and go for a monestary in 3.. want to get those puppys out the door before they go obsolete.

<ice island with two barbtowns on it.>
notice a very odd Barbarian formation..

[3]1490 AD
and we grow a jungle near Portland hehe. WEll worker army is unearthing Nice Spot first.

Move science down to 90% , keeping liberalism in 3.

[4]1495 AD
<horrible one tile grass farm workable screen>

Brrown Dot Comes out of revolt and well it can work a single grass farm hehe. Its pushing out 21 culture from the Sistine chapel so lets see how many tiles it can get back eh?

[5]1500 AD
yeah great, I spend 71 to save the forge but that's ok! 60% science keeps liberalism next turn!

<screen of 3 more tiles gained from culture>
So Brrowndot will be stable at size 4. yay.

[6]1505 AD
Big Turn!
<Liberalism comes in>
And our choice, grabbing Nationalism or course.
<Nationalism tech splash>
Next tech is Economics in uh... 13 turns at 0% science

I put Boston on The Taj on account it's a beast in terms of hammers and we want to change civics soon. 20 turns.

[7]1510 AD
Hanibal just got education so we will probably lose economics to him, not much I can do other than hire specs so I look around. Push science to 20% and will beg cash from joao soon.

[8]1515 AD
Tao has been spread to brown and pink by this time, make sure no one else is missing.

[9]1520 AD
Put Seattle on wealth and get science to 30% for econ in 7.

[10]1525 AD
hmm ok 6 turns hehe and joao should be beggable next turn.

[11]1530 AD
hehe well peace ends with both joao and khan resulting in losing that 6gpt from khan, boo.
Boudica converts to theo and is WHTMOOH.

I cannot get gold from joao (only 30) but I can lower the slider to 20% and keep econ at 5 for positive 11 goldish a turn.

Start Washington on a Pagoda as we need the priest slots. Need to force a Great profit for NY.

Washington's GP is in 3 turns for the normal 70% scientist, 25% eng 5% artist.. say hi to yet another GE eh?

[12]1535 AD
And Boo, Hannibal scores Economics before us as I figured he would. This of course means we need caste system to load up on merchants in washington.

[13]1540 AD

<KAHN DECLARES WAR>
LOL so well there goes Toku's "Condolence"

<Screen of our HA punking a pile of 3 workers next door>
So Tit for RAT A TAT TAT you loser.

<lots of green event text>
Khan suicides a few HA's on Browndot's pikes and well hmm. Send the pikes in to clear out the trebs + whatever else. 3 HA's are left.

<picture of a combat 1 shock + anti siege promoted khan mace getting punked by our drill4 xbow>
see a nasty maceman all alone as well so Sic Brrowndot's drill 4 Xbow on him and cover the xbow with a pike and a mace.

[14]1545 AD
So we get the odds favorite Great scientist who bulbs printing press... which to me sounds like liq is unsure WTH our next tech after econ is going to be. haha. options are bulb or make an academy in one of those cottageheaven towns like pinkdot.

Ok Liq is feeling complete and totally effed, not to mention I promised grover he could be the one to pound khan into the ground. No way was I expecting khan to attack what with the worker army next door.

So things to do.

What tech next?

Gunpowder is cheap and we can use Muskets to help pound joao I guess and chemistry is on the path to mining inc.
Con gives us jails and access to corporation which is required for mining inc.
Printing press/replaceable parts is bulbable and nets us lumber mills to supercharge seattle, + commerce to mature cottages and is needed to get steam power for setting up Mining inc.

Hmm replaceable parts also helps out those mills we have up.

Thinking spend the GS on Printing press then onto replaceable parts. We have quite alot of cottages running now so printing press is a good deal for the economy.

WW is kicking the new towns' collective asses meh but well we are 1.7 of khans strength and he cannot build more maces or knights or pikes or xbows. :lol:

<screen of all the khan workers next door>
So wow so many workers to punt.

So I was in the process of reinforcing Brrown Dot's garrison for a new offensive when khan DOW'd us. His HA's are sitting next to brown dot begging you to pike them. Oh sorry only 2 left it seems, not sure when I killed the other 9ish.

That gaggle of workers need names. First is a "Condolence"

Washington is building a tao cathedral for the express reason it needs to work 3 priest specs the moment it is finished. Seattle gets the next Tao cathedral.

Taj is in 14 turns and well that's when we want to civic change.
Keep rep
Change to Nationhood to save on civic costs (roughly 12ish gold a turn) and its easy happy. + spy is nice as well.
change to Caste system as we are going to need to pop a merchant out of washington.
Change to Mercantilism as our trade with joao is meager at best and about to be cut off short.More specs for the win.
Meh change to theocracy as I just traded for the tech and 60 gold to joao for paper. Pacifism would kill us haha. Might as well push out a 15 exp mace from browndot for super medic eh?

Save the GG for medic. We'll get at least one more before we are done with this island eh?

Cannot believe Liq missed screenshots=/

Oh and finish off khan this round guys, he has nothing we can use from taking peace.

Cheers!

Sounds good Liq, too bad about the screenies. I would not suspect Khan to be that stupid, or, well, I would,but you get the picture... Concerning naming the workers, I believe I already named that Khan worker "tribute".

I suspect we are playing gogo conquest with this amount of GGs and war?

Nice sets guys! Some great :hammer: there. Hilarious to see Khan's power ration go from 0.6 to 1.7, lol. Massive carnage in Khan land as his Keshiks impale themselves on our pikes.

Other continent is baffling... A wonderwhoring/religionwhoring Hannibal is strange indeed. Well, maybe not so strange, as he is the only financial civ around... A great choice for any invasions to come.

Oh, and the Celtic Alexandria is really telling of what's going on over there. :lol:

Seems Khan has a deathwish, declaring war with pathetic power. Although we may have a rough road with Khan spamming castles all around. Can unhook the horses near brown dot (temporarily of course) to deny Khan horses and force him to use a bad mix of units against us.

I'll be fairly quiet until Friday-ish. Finished a lab exam but have two more to go.

Well to be honest, so totally shocked when that moron declared and took out toku's "Condolence" rofl

I was totally expecting a flood of dead workers from that but other than his exping the pikes of Brrowndot, he did nothing, including moving his sizable worker army away from our nearby HA.

So basically instead of killing khan, lets get browndot's culture free so we can get that town going.

After that, pick and choose the towns we can take out, keeping in mind most are going to be flooded in joao culture, making dot maping impossible.

So then the real question is when do we want to roll over joao. We can seriously use a good 30ish turns of quiet building to switch over from our pure SE based out of Washington, over to a hybrid Economy where losing the GLib won't seriously hurt us.

Really need to see how the Civic swaps change the economic landscape.

BTW pop oxford into Washington..

Cheers!
-Liq

Meh ok so excuse a liq for feeling like crap. New save here!

To explain a few things.

The upcoming GA is free revolt so my choices of Nationalism and theo will be explained a bit.

Nationalism is 2 things.. free happy from barracks and No upkeep. This is total win for us at the start of the golden age because the runner up civic is Free Speech. FS's time of glory is not with us yet as the number of villages we have are few and far between and we don;t honestly need the culture. At the end of the GA, lets look long and hard at revolting from nationhood into Free Speech, keeping in mind we have another GA from that pos artist for our next civic change.

Theo is two fold really. One is we want to lock out all of those fake religions to prevent getting cheesed on AP and prevent those losers from getting free commerce from their Shrines. The fact that the rest of this game is going to be one war after the next, the +2 exp for units is golden such that I really see no reason to ever leave the civic ever again.

So final Civics for sure are Going to be...

Free Speech
Free Market
Theo
Representation*
Caste System**

*Universal Suffrage will be an option closely watched
**Emancipation when able to painlessly leave Caste.

I marked the map with basic paths we want to take the new towns in. Most are Commerce except LA.

LA???? yeah, We need a working shipyard on the East coast and that town has it the goods. Once Replaceable Parts comes in, replace Those 5 grassland riverside cottage tiles with Water Mills, keeping in mind the 6th tile marked 'Farm' is going to be used for irrigation south.

The National Wonders:
Washington -> Oxford + Tao Cathedral #1
New York -> Wall Street + Tao Shrine + Mining INC + Sid's Sushi
Bentley-> Globe Theatre
Seattle -> National Park + Tao Cathedral #2
Boston-> Westpoint + Military Academy
Brrown Dot -> Iron Works + Red Cross + Military Academy
Darkbluedot -> Moai Statues
Limedot -> Forbidden palace

Rushmore needs to go in a town NOT listed above hehe like philly or something haha. Actually philly has the pony rides for the little kiddies AND the booze for the big Kiddies... should wonder whore all the Entertainment Wonders in that town ala Damascus :lol:

We have no use for the Hermitage.

So anyway lets see what damage you two guys can do to khan and his castles guarded by a single longbow :lol:

As for the GG btw... screw theSuper medic... push out a mace in brrown and use him as a normal medic so he can stay a mace for a long time and won;t die lol.

Save the Great General we have in Boston and the one we are about to get for academies in Boston and BrrownDot.... not kyoto, soz, liq is channeling Boff3

Scream bloody murder is any of this rambling BS liq just typed up is :smoke:

Cheers!

Liq, thanks for the great post. That's just what I was hoping for. Some kind of plan.

I'm home from work, and I'll start in on my set in a bit.

Grover

Thinking here that the tech scene after replaceable parts should be Constitution and then Corporation.

Jails are Roxxors and we want to get wall street up and running in NewYork.

Since both techs are directly on the path to mining inc, that seems like a win win situation as getting them sooner is definitely better than getting them later.

The other tech liq really likes is Democracy for 2 main immediate reasons. Statue of Liberty and the all important SPY HUT!!!!! We really want to be pushing up the EP's about now and jails + spy huts is a fast (4+8)1.5 = 18 ez ep.. total winz.

Lets see how things go after corp.

Cheers!
-Liq

1545ad, turn 329

Liq has posted a plan for our civics and for where the wonders should be built. I am grateful to have a plan.

Liq has also put signs up all over the place, so I'll be a complete idiot if I get something wrong. My favorite is the sign over the barb galley: "Please Punk This Barb."

I notice Liq's "Crab Dot" sign in our north. I add a "Fish Dot" sign on the other coast to match.
I notice that Washington still has a farm on one if its wine tiles. I'll replace it with a winery.

We are back at war with Khan. Our tech rate is back to 0%, 192 beakers per turn, +22 gpt, and economics is due in 3 turns.

After econ, the research plan is:
printing press (with bulb help) > replaceable parts > constitution > corporation (for two corps and wall st in New York), unless we really need gunpowder units for our war(s).

I give names to the three Khan workers Liq grabbed after Khan declared war.
Khan has another worker out in the open, but I can't reach him this turn.

I wake the troops in Atlanta, sending xb, pike, and spy forward towards Brown Dot. I leave behind the 3/2xp mace as the lone defender. Atlanta is well away from the front lines now.

Khan has two keshiks next to Brown Dot, but all our pikes inside are hurt so I don't attack his horses.

Ok. I'm strapped in, and I hit enter.

1550ad, turn 330

Khan sends those two horses at Brown Dot. One withdraws from Karl. The other dies to our longbow.

Bentley Manor becomes unhappy. I whip its settler.

My plan for Khan is to raze Beshbalik, swing north, raze Faro, and found Dark Green Dot. It should be foundable by then. The other option, razing Ord Sarai and founding Purple Dot, might not work because Purple Dot is probably either in Joao's or Turfan's culture after Ord Sarai is razed. So, Green Dot first.

The army begins its march towards Beshbalik.

We have only the four seige units ready for action, so I'll try to spare them.

Houston has just lost its whipping unhappiness, but the town is still unhappy, so I whip its courthouse.

1555ad, turn 331

LA: granary > courthouse
houston: courthouse > bank (71 turns. we'll be whipping in 15)
manor: settler > colosseum (was already in the queue)

The army reaches Beshbalik. Will shell or suicide next turn.

1560ad, turn 332

attachment.php

Printing press is next, nominally 18 turns, but we'll bulb after a turn.
WE DO NOT GET THE GREAT MERCHANT.

Checking the log, somebody else got him in 1530, before this turnset started. Bummer.

Ricky defends against a Khan catapult.
Another Khan cat withdraws against our stack.
Our trireme defends against the barb galley. I get to take down one of Liq's signs.

A pike from Houston intercepts a keshik trying to sneak past.

Our cat does 2%/turn, and our three trebs each do 4%/turn against Beshbalik. That's 14%/turn, and it started at 100. 7 turns of shelling. We need more trebs. On the brighter side, we are still +19gpt even with an army in Khan's territory.

I 2-pop emergency whip a treb in Boston. Taj is still in 11 turns after the treb comes, so I think we lost only the one turn on it.

Manor: colosseum > settler (for fish dot, i guess)
Nice: walls > bank (removing the queued theater, and preparing to whip)

1565ad, turn 333

Our pike defends against an axe.
San Fran finishes its forge, becoming happy and avoiding the whip. It starts a Tao Temple.
Boston: treb > Taj

1570ad, turn 334

Joao adopts Mercantililsm.

Boston finds a source of gems in its bfc on a mined river/grass/hill. Huzzah! It celebrates We Love Grover Day.

Another keshik tries to sneak past Houston but gets run down by our pike.

I give up on shelling Beshbalik, and I try using a spy to bring down the walls. It'll cost a bunch, especially since he only gets 10% off for being stationary. Actually, the cost is 617ep, and we have 2000 saved against Khan. Use 'em or lose 'em, I say. We have a 90% chance of success...and the walls are down.

Three trebs and the cat attack the seven defenders and all our seige units survive. *phew* All had pretty good odds (86% and up), but we can't really afford to lose any.
After that, the hardest part is coming up with names for our victorious units.
We go 7-0 in taking out the defenders, and even Doctor Feelgood (our mace medic2) earns an xp from an easy kill.

Beshbalik is no more. Brown Dot has a few more tiles to work now. I move Brown Dot off the gold mine and onto a cottage so that it can grow. Portland takes over the gold mine instead.

Atlanta: xb > treb

1575ad, turn 335

attachment.php

The big news is that Khan is now fighting Joao, too, not that Hannibal has adopted free religion. I guess it'll be a bit of a race between Joao and us to grab as much Khan land as fast as we can. I'm viewing Joao's declaration as a bad thing, actually. In fact, I'm so perturbed by it that I ask him for all 60 of his gold. He is pleased, but he refuses. He won't give 45, either. Nor will he give 30. What's the secret here? You guys have such success with him.

Khan attacks us (from across a river) with a maceman (combat 2, shock) and he takes out one of our crossbows. I think the xb had drill 3. Khan gets some lucky rolls, but I had some good luck last turn, too, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Khan sends yet another Keshik north past Houston. I send a pike at it. We have 99.4% odds, but we lose. Ok. Now I should complain.

A second pike from Houston (Stewart) finishes the job.

The army starts toward Faro, whose walls are only 20%. No spy needed there.

Squeaky Weasel (our successful spy) reappears back in Washington and starts moving south to give it another go.

Our GS bulbs Printing Press, bringing us to 3522/3588 complete. We'll get PP next turn.

Seattle: library > university

1580ad, turn 336

attachment.php

I dial up replaceable parts, following Liq's path. 18 turns.

New York: Tao Temple > grocer (pre-queued)
Philly: Tao Temple > grocer

1585ad, turn 337

Joao reclaims Oporto from Khan.
Joao has 180 available for trade? Let's try...no to 180. No to 85. No to 70. I give up.

Nice Spot will become unhappy next turn, so it 5-pop whips its bank.
Houston will become unhappy next turn, but I can't whip its bank yet. I stagnate its growth by working some coast tiles.

1590ad, turn 338

Khan adopts bureaucracy.

Two trebs take down Faro's walls.
Treb number three sacrifices himself for the attack. 32% to win and he loses, as expected.
Herbert (mace) is 61% and loses. Ouch.
Our last cat is 43% (was much lower last turn, why?). He dies, too.
Noname mace loses 37%.
Garrett (mace) finally gets us a tally in the win column.
Tony, Ricky, and Will keep the winning streak alive.
Karl does his part, and a no-name xb moves in to raze the town.

attachment.php

Say hello to St. Louis (formerly Dark Green Dot). It starts walls.

attachment.php

Also, say hello to Miami. It starts a lighthouse.

Nice Spot: bank > market
Manor: settler (went to fish dot) > settler (for crab dot)

With those two new towns founded, we're still +42gpt at 0%.
I feel good enough with our 686 gold in the bank to upgrade our lone horse archer to a knight for 200.

The whipped treb from boston finally catches up to the rest of the army. Just in time to replace a fallen treb.

1595ad, turn 339

Crap. Stuff (an aqueduct) was pre-queued up in Washington, and I missed the message that the pagoda had finished, and I forgot to check. So we went a couple turns without running our three priests. I reallocated our three specs to be all priests this turn. Shoot. Also, I wanted to crank out a few tao missionaries there when the pagoda finished.

Atlanta: treb > treb

I choose Braga as the next target, because Khan thoughtfully founded it right on top of Dark Red Dot, so we can keep it. That town may have some culture problems with Joao if we keep it though.

1600-1605ad, turns 340-341

Joao has knights cruising around in Khan's territory.

Our troops reach Braga (Dark Red Dot). Culture wise, it's 78% Khan and 21% Joao already.
Our spy reaches Turfan, which is next to Lime Dot. Turfan is 100% Khan by culture. I think maybe we should start there instead so that we don't lose the city to Joao's culture after we take it, but my troops are at Braga, and it has only 3 defenders now.

1610ad, turn 342

Chicago: library > bank
Seattle: univ > market
SF: temple > grocer

1615ad, turn 343

Washington: aqueduct > missionary
Manor: settler (for crab dot) > settler (for lime dot)

1620ad, turn 344

attachment.php

We get a golden age.
I revolt to free speech, caste system, free market, and theocracy, retaining representation, according to the plan Liq laid out.
We instantly go from +132gpt to +143gpt.
I raise the tech slider to 30%, and we're +12gpt. Replaceable parts in 6.

Boudica declares war on Ramesses.

Joao takes Braganza from Khan. That's not the same as Braga.

We shell down Braga, and our trebs go 2-for-3.
The other units move in, and...

attachment.php

But can we keep it?
Well, it comes with a monument (from stonehenge, i guess) and a granary.
I get a missionary to it on its first turn, and taoism successfully spreads.
We're in caste system so we can run artists for culture.

We are +5gpt after taking Braga.
Then I found Buffalo (crab dot), and we're -6gpt.
I keep the slider at 30% because we have 882 gold saved up.

attachment.php

Ok. I'm going to end my set there.

DE, our army is a bit battered at the moment, but Khan's not offering much resistance. There are fresh troops in portland that could come south to join the party. There are also probably some troops to spare in Brown Dot, since Khan is so weak now. A fresh treb is on its way to Brown Dot and should be there in a few turns. Manor is building a settler for Lime Dot, and there is a a spy sleeping in Turfan. Turfan's walls are at 100%, but the spy should be able to bring them down so you won't need a long seige. I don't think we need to worry about saving spy points vs Khan anymore, so you may as well use them up.

We need to produce a great prophet for the tao shrine in New York, and we need a great merchant for Sid's Sushi. We didn't get the merchant with economics. Somebody else got him in 1530. Maybe NY should run merchants while Washington runs priests.

Good Stuff mate. My bad with the civics as I was aiming for Nationalism (not a biggie) and mercantilism over free trade. Not an issue since we can just revolt to Merc but free trade is for when we have the corps up more than anything else. Sorry for not being clear about that. Liq is always thinking 30 turns ahead, rightly annoys Silver to boot hahaha.

Ok well No need For switching to Nationhood as the gold we save from teh civic is soon going to be surpassed by the number of villages we have up and running. We do indeed want to be in Merc though as the free spec is worth insane culture for all out new towns alone.

For tech, Hannibal is only lacking Nationalism on us so he's going strong. We might want to lay off taking out joao and concentrate on the buttery side of things to get the wheels greased.

We really want The statue of liberty and to get going on those EP's so I'd say lets go Constitution and see if Hannibal has nationalism yet. If he does, blitz democracy else sneak in a fast corporation first.

So long as joao keeps tao btw, he is perma pleased with us and woefully behind in tech.

BTW please take the Tao Cathedral out of NY's Queue and push it for Seattle first

You are up DE, enjoy the last days of khan and please get in that Mercantilism revolt before the GA ends.

Oh and btw, Lets do conquest this time. Raze all those heathen Shrines.

Cheers!
-Liq

Okay great I'm up in all the three SGs I'm in... I'll do my best!

EDIT: Can't really grasp any more civ right now, I'll prolly mess up everything. Why not have S-ilver play a set? :sad:

Ouch. So you made me a nice plan, and then I ignored it. Actually, what I did was just go for the "final civics" list you put down after your nice explanation. It was late, I was tired, and I screwed up.

But you guys all have turns to take to put things right before I get another chance to derail us.

Take your time mate, liq isn;t feeling too boffo.

And yah no problem there grover about merc, it's all about Cough Syrup powered 4 am thinking around here.

Example: Sea Horse Powered Chariots :confused:

Anyway, a few things. One is we can really use 30 to 40 turns of "whack" next turn to hammer out the ever increasing load of Core buildings that we keep pushing off to build a few more trebs.

In no particular order:
Need more +coin buildings (Grocer/Market/Bank) Must get at least 6 banks out just to start New York on wall street haha.

How can we not have Oxford up in Washington? lolz. No one's fault here but we need to push the 6 half priced universities all over the place and get Oxford up.

All those new cottage cheese towns need basic commerce buildings post haste. Actually might be better to stall growth via specs in order to push off happy/health buildings so they can all push out markets and libraries.

So yeah, Considering we haven;t had a lasting peace for more than a turn set it seems, Would be nice to just tolerate joao for a few hundred years and just build infra!

The other two things are Victory and uh boff5?

This game is in mop up mode on account Hannibal has so little land to work with that his tech cannot be leveraged properly. The two score leaders are so behind in Tech as they have been in 'we have too much' mode, busy beating each other up, all game.

How do we want to win? Fast and Dirty, or Slow and Cheesy?

Conquest (not freaking Domination) Seems to fit how we've played so far as.

Diplomatic would be impossible (unless we butter up to Hannibal and just steam roll the other two clowns rofl) on account no one likes each other. Culture is obviously not a spur of the moment and "Teh Spacez Shipz" is even more whack endturn than Conquest hehe.

So if we agree on killing those other fools, What techs?

Rifles alone won;t be enough to roll over Carthage as he will be ahead of us military tech until we re structure. Though they will steam roll over Joao just fine.

So do we want to end this game fast or can a we play with all of America's toys? :crazyeye:

A liq really wants to see the Mall + 2x corps in action on a 4 civ continent with 19 +coal hammers from mining Inc and uh 9 rice+7 fish = 16 -> +8 food.

Liq also wants to see Brrown pumping out 17 (Charismatic) EXP Navy Seals with innate Amphibious, March AND Medic....... all for the Low Low Low Price of 50ish "Wack End Turn"s

17 EXP is only 3 exp from level 5....

Omg, Liq Shivers just thinking of that sort of Civ Abuse...

Wow man, Liq really wants to see this monster fully awakened running Malls flooded with Home grown Bacon.

Anyway the other bit is Boff-05. If you care to take the abuse of another Boff-0 DE, lets us know as you will have full say in what leader/settings will be rolled. By now I think you have an idea why we scare other players of :lol:

Cheers!
-Liq

Alright, I got it for a quick set. Just finished off a midterm and I have a few days until the next one, so will grab a set and see what damage can be done (or undone, lol).

1620AD (344):

Preflight check. It seems the whole world is gearing up for a fight (other than us and Hannibal). That's just fine, as we need to be concentrating on getting all our new holdings online. Some great warmongering was done, so now we just need to consolidate. Hence this will very likely be boring turns.

Khan is still around but has pathetic power ratings. His only remaining cities are Turfan and Old Sarai. We'll try and dispose of those and replant our own, although the defensive bonuses are ugly.

Alright, so the requisite zoom through the cities.

Washington is almost done a Missionary. It will be done even if I stop working the mines and get to the riverside farms (which are superior in the Golden Age). We want to get Washington roaring with Caste System, so it'll be necessary to bulk out its population.

NY is on growth mode (if you can call it that), pushing out a grocer, which is necessary to fix its health. I dump the Tao Pagoda and the Bank from the queue, as I prefer to MM this stuff myself as it comes in.

Boston has excess food, and doesn't need to grow as we can't get more production out of it, so I stagnant it for a priest.

Philly done a Grocer next turn. We can then unstagnant it. I MM it to work the plains cottage instead of the mine for additional economic output. Does not affect the grocer.

Atlanta is now completely food neutral. We dialed a Treb, but need infra in this city, so switching to a harbor.

Bentley Manor still has a 10 food surplus, thankfully a settler is eating it right now. I hire 3 merchants off the farms (since the GA does NOTHING for food), in an attempt to get a GP out in this town that is not a scientist.

Chicago is working on a Bank... and I guess this is for Oxford? I'm going to slip a harbor in front, as we are running up against health caps soonish.

Rearrange some of Seattle's tiles to get the most out of Golden Age hammers (food only tiles do nothing for us). Cuts a turn off the market there.

San Fran has a priest and a spy hired for some unknown reason. We will never pop a GP here, so no point. Meanwhile we have the 2 incense tiles making nice raw commerce. lol, working those tiles doubles San Fran's commerce output, good to go! Also halting growth here again to take advantage of the golden age hammers.

Cut down LA's courthouse by a bit by working the workshop.

Houston has a random spy hired; get rid of it. Anger from whip also gone next turn, so setting it to grow.

Nice spot is fine the way it is. It just needs to grow rapidly to work all the cottages.

Brrown Dot is costing way too much, so firing the engineer and working the mine and workshop to get the courthouse in faster.

Portland is growing too fast for the happy cap, so going to take this opportunity to grow cottages.

St. Louis is stagnant because it hired an artist automatically. Meh, will pop borders next turn, so letting it go for this one turn. Artist getting back to work after that. Also, we do not need walls here. Khan is gassed and the defenses are fine. Dial for some basics like a Granary.

Miami also has an artist going. Again, will check back next turn...

Braga still in revolt for 5 turns, so check back way later... No idea what the Tao temple first is for... I dial a forge, will check back later to see if courts are a better idea.

Buffalo = Miami. Checking back later...

Dial Joao up and try to hit him up for some Gold, but it doesn't work :p.

Hannibal is cautious and so will sell us his world map for 90 gold. I take it...

set6hannibalmap.jpg

Readjust EPs a bit so we are at least getting some on each AI (mostly on Joao though).

1625AD (345):

Awesome...

set6scientistevent.jpg

Well, Genghis capitulates to Joao, forcing peace. That was easier than expected...

set6khanpeace.jpg

We also get a free Tao spread to Buffalo, so one less missionary we need to train.

Ok, well gathering up the army and shoving it into Braga to save costs...

The Tao missionary is done in Washington. Let's see... Need another for Miami but not pressing. I dial a Grocer to help the health cap.

Boston done a Treb, and it's purpose has been served for now. Dialing a university to help with the Oxford requirement.

Philly done the grocer, so unstagnanting it and dialing up an aqueduct.

Can shave a turn off Rep Parts by dialing the slider to 40%. Small loss of 8gpt, so do so.

1630AD (346):

Joao shows up looking for education as a gift. He can take a hike. He's still pleased, so who the heck cares?

Drop Tao into St. Louis this turn.

NY finished a Grocer. Before we get on a Bank, going to dial for an Aqueduct to control the health cap.

1635AD (347):

Boudica shows up and demands paper. No...

Snooze... Uh... Joao is teching Astro this turn. Genghis was already on Gunpowder and has 11 turns to go.

1640AD (348):

Atlanta finished a harbor, and doesn't need much else. Will dial a Library with the intent on getting a Uni up here...

Seattle done a Market, going for a Bank on the account of it not needing health badly.

Brrown Dot done the courthouse, and we need culture bad here, so dialing a Theatre.

Sagres just border popped this turn, so pressure on Braga. Going to go nuts with the culture there.

1645AD (349):

set6repparts.jpg

Dialing for Constitution in 9 Golden Turns...

Well, it's been 5 turns, so Revolting to Mercantilism. So yeah, running around hiring the right specs. Mostly, I go with priests, as with Angkor + Sistine + Rep, the generate "all of the above" except EPs, so a safe, flexible bet. However, in the border towns I hire artists, and towns with no temple have to settle for a merchant.

Boston is done the University, a grocer would be useful for health concerns.

Philly finished... uh something... I wasn't paying attention, lol. Must've been an aqueduct. I dial for a Bank.

Bentley Manor is done the Settler and is back to growing uncontrollably. I dial for an Aqueduct. We want a bank here later, kinda... Globe can wait, as limiting factor is health by a long shot.

LA finished the courthouse, so roll onto a Forge for "the basics".

1650AD (350):

Snooze... Some cities grow and I micro them... Exiciting...

1655AD (351):

So apparently, Hannibal has more money than us...

set6wealth.jpg

And our spy gets caught in Genghis land, boo...

NY is done an Aqueduct. Exiciting. Dial for a Bank.

1660AD (352):

Taoism spreads to Lagos, so one less city of Joao's we'll need to Taoize.

Oh, btw Joao is no longer pleased as our close borders are pissing him off.

Atlanta's Library is done, dialing a Uni.

San Fran is done a Grocer, going for a harbor.

1665AD (352):

Grocer done in Washington, dial up a Bank, as that's the last economic building we'll need...

Brrown Dot done a Theatre, going for a Tao Monastery.

Portland done Courthouse. Granary next please.

1670AD (354):

The Golden Age ends, and I have to dial science down to 30% to get positive cashflow back...

Seattle's Bank is done. Going to build a Monastery for kicks so we can build Missionaries here if needed.

Nice spot is done a market and starts a grocer.

1675AD (355):

Joao shows up demanding Printing Press. He can take a hike.

set6joaowar.jpg

And... he declares war. Crap...

Ok, so Joao is an effing loser. But he seems to have more power than us for the moment, so will need to be careful. Alright, well first thing is random anger from Khan is back, so need to dial up the slider for that... Putting science down to zero and culture up to 30%...

As an aside, we get Charles Darwin instead of a Prophet, so embed him as he only bulbs astro...

set6darwin.jpg

Well, Boston just finished its grocer in the nick of time... I dial a Treb.

Buffalo is done a Lighthouse, and it clearly doesn't matter. Dial for a Granary.

Kill a bunch of Joao units, and see that he spammed Filler Town for us.

set6filler.jpg

Yes, he only has knights in that town. Getting more pikes...

1680AD (356):

Tao spreads for free in Miami.

Well... crap...

set6bragaincoming.jpg

Going to evac the city and attack it next turn... No other choice... Taking refuge on the hill to the NE. Joao has far too many siege units specialized at taking cities.

University done in Atlanta... Dial for a Knight.

Switch Washington to Oxford.

1685AD (357):

Joao invades the empty city of Braga and takes it.

Boston Treb -> Mace

Philly Bank -> Mace

Bentley Duct -> Settler

Seattle Tao Monastery -> Crossbow

San Fran Harbor -> Barracks

Filler town gets razed by a pike, as it clearly didn't have enough pop. Oh well...

1690AD (358):

Joao suicided a bunch of units on our stack in the inturn.

Meh... I had a screenshot of Constituion, or so I thought. But it poofed. Yeah, S.ilver is stupid. Should've teched something else. Dial up Gunpowder as we are not safe until all these effers are dead.

1695AD (359):

Joao still suiciding units at our stack...

A mixed bag in the attack...

set6stackattack.jpg

Boston Mace -> Mace

1700AD (360):

Genghis goes Jewish. Oh well, it's only Turfan and that's getting razed later anyways...

We continue the beatdown of Joao's troops this turn. We don't lose anything and inflict mass casualties.

Seattle Crossbow -> Pike

1702AD (361):

Hannibal wants to trade DR and some cash for Parts. No...

I finish clearing out all units in Braga except one Catapult. I want Joao's troops to actually go INTO the city so I can pwn them badly with the elite CR troops.

Boston Mace -> Treb

Philly Mace -> Pike

Atlanta Knight -> Crossbow

Chicago Bank -> Barracks

San Fran Barracks -> Longbow

Portland Granary -> Forge

1704AD (362):

Joao didn't reinforce the city in the inturn, so Garret gets the honours and takes Braga back. Everyone piles in.

Seattle Pike -> Crossbow

Brrown Monastery -> Library

1706 AD (363):

Joao does nothing in the inturn. He is apparently willing to talk again...

Forge done in LA. Get a Theatre.

Boston finished something... Whatever it was, dial a Treb.

1708AD (364):

set6gunpowder.jpg

Dial up Rifling because these idiots won't leave us alone... Gawd...

NY done a Bank. Jails needed everywhere...

Philly Pike -> Mace

Atlanta Crossbow -> Treb

Passing it off in case we want to make peace with Joao and/or switch rifling to something else. In all honesty these freaks just won't leave us be, so very tempted to kill them off... Our economy is becoming more robust so we could probably handle it...

Man WTH is with these idiots?

Ok DE, you get to choose here.

we are 7 points from a great general and Joao is gassed. You can prolly roll over the two towns to the east with minimal effort and score a great general... or jsut say eff this, take peace and pick between which Guns Tech....

keep in mind Oxford is in 6 turns as we are running 30% culture...

Rifles in 14ish turns. Excellent garrison troops and a hammer to beat down joao since he;s going knight crazy. Not on the direct path to mining inc tho.

Chemistry in 9ish and steel in much less than 19 turns. Cannon will pown joao with some finesse and it's directly square in the path of nabbing mining inc.
Steel also advances the Age as well not to mention we are that much close to machine guns.

Hmm the more I think about it, prolly want to take out steel.

Yup to you mate.

Cheers!

What's the benefit of advancing the age?

Did Silver change civics back to merc and nationalism? Or is my blunder permanent?

Grover

no point running nationalism anymore, that was a civic micro ploy to save 50ish gold in civic costs hehe.

We are in Mercantilism.:)

Oh btw Grover, remember when you asked liq if Washington had enough food to be a GP farm?
Spoiler :
Civ4BeyondSword2009-02-1020-45-17-9.png

keep in mind Oxford in 6 is another 1 raw GS point.

A GP farm from the start needs hammers as much as food. Washington's hammers we just low enough that we wouldn't miss it's production as it worked out its GP related infra.

Advancing the age discounts the prior ages' techs.

Cheers!
