Constantinople Taken!
In one of the greatest victories in Russian history, the Imperial Army has conqured the ancient city of Constantinople! The credit for this great victory largely belongs to the heroic crews of two howitzer batteries who exposed themselves to murderous fire in order to ensure that their powerful projectiles hit home. While these valourous gunners were all killed, their sacrafice opened the door into Constantinople, which was then occupied by the 4th Kiev Grenadier Regiment.
Upon the news of this great victory, Czar Nick and his court left the jubilant city of St. Petersburg for Constantinople, where they will re-dedicate the Hagia Sophia as an Orthodox Cathederal.
Thessalonica Occupied
Russia's recently won 'warm water' passage to the Meditteranean has been secured by the capture of the city of Thessalonica.
Peace with Sweden
Prior to the Czar's departure for Constantinople he approved a peace treaty with the Swedish King. Under the terms of the treaty all the the province of Finland along with the Norwegian city of Trondeim will be ceded to Russian control.
