Border Toggles 4.3

This mod seems to stop working when I do an Age Transition. On a reload, I just did a full PC/Steam/Civ 7 reload, unrelated to this mod, and I see it's now working in the Exploration age, but when I left this save file earlier immediately after the age Transition, the mod was not working/showing in the lenses tab thingy. So not a huge deal, just thought I would say :D

Hey, thanks for your report. I've just tried it again with an Antiquity-to-Exploration and an Exploration-to-Modern transition, and the mod keeps working for me.

What other mods do you use? Do all your other mods keep working after age transition? Does it work when you have only my mod active?
If it happens again, could you share your UI.log and Modding.log files from just after the age transition? You can find these in the Logs folder which is in the same spot as the Mods folder.

I haven't noticed any other mods not working after a transition, but they could be, I only really noticed as your mod was the latest one I added and looked for it. I am about to transition in the game where I noticed it wasn't working, so I will keep an eye open when I do, and I'll check my other mods are working and then do as you ask, I've found the logs you mention so no problem I'll reply when I do get back into the game.

Hey I just did another game and instead of stopping before the age transition I kept playing and this time your mod was working...maybe I had a brain freeze and couldn't see it for looking or something a little clunky just happened. I'll keep an eye out, as I finished my last game where it was gone in the Exploration age, and it appeared in the Modern age when I loaded it in again...so I love this mod now and will definitely notice going forward if the options are gone. Sorry if it was a false report on my end.

Interesting bug. I guess it doesn't refresh correctly on ownership change. I assume it doesn't refresh when you deselect and reselect the border checkboxes?

This mod doesn't create the borders itself, it just enables the two checkboxes to show/hide the borders that Firaxis built into the game. It's beyond the scope of this mod to try to fix this bug. And since the city border doesn't normally show up in game, I don't think Firaxis will soon fix it themselves either.
oh! it just occurred to me: are these the same borders that the base game shows on the acquire-tile and place-building interface modes? if so then the game does show them, but usually you're locked out of those modes because of unrest.

I don't know exactly. I don't understand all the layers and lenses the game has. There is a separate layers for building-placement. Also a worker-yields layer that, according to the comment in it, exists "to show yields from each plot during city tile acquisition". I've fiddled with all the layers from /base-standard/ui/lenses/layer, and then came up with this one for my purpose. Some others don't show anything when toggled on the world map.

The description for the city-borders layer is "Lens layer for city borders where individual city bounds are represented if two cities are adjacent", but that doesn't explain where or if the game uses this.

When you capture an enemy settlement the border color is not updated and remains the enemy color. If I exit the game and reload the save, the problem is gone.

Yeah, I know. It's not something I can fix. This is what I wrote about it on the mod overview page:

Known issue:
  • When a city changes owner (capture, peace deal, independent integration) the city border stays at the old color of the previous owner. This will only update when saving and reloading. This mod doesn't create the border itself, but just shows the border that already exists in game. Sadly, that border doesn't update correctly. It's beyond the scope of this mod to fix that.
 
Hi, this doesn't seem to be working for me since v1.1.1 - I disabled all other mods but it doesn't show up in the layer options overlay.

That's odd. Could you provide me with your UI.log and modding.log? You can find them in the Logs folder that is in the same spot as the Mods folder.

Thanks for the logs your sent. You have an old version of my mod, version 1.x or 2.0. Please update the mod to version 2.5 and check if it works then. Also, check if you have the most recent version of Moxl Map Search. I see you use that, and an older version of that mod was no longer compatible with game update 1.1.0 and prevented other lens mods, like Border Toggles, from functioning. Please let me know if this helps, or you still have issues.

If you're still installing and updating your mods manually, I would suggest using the excellent CivMods mod manager made by @leonardify. You can install mods with one click and it will show you which mods need an update. It's really helpful for managing your mods.

Hi, thanks for that... I am using Civ 7 Mod Manager but it was showing that Border Toggles wasn't in the repository. I guess this was because of the older version since it's OK now that I installed the latest
 
The mod seems bugged: Confucius conquered two of Catherine's citys, however the City Border Decoration still shows the old colors.

Also theres a bug in the bottom left corner ('Ewa)

I don’t know what’s going on with Ewa here. Maybe there was an independent before? When destroying an independent some of the tiles become unclaimable. It’s a known bug that sadly still isn’t fixed.

The old colors not changing is a game bug actually. It's not something I can fix. Save and reload helps. This is what I wrote about it on the mod overview page:
