Botwawki 2.6

I'm with J.K. Stockholme. The game will be now much harder to find among the piles and piles of active topics in IOT.

I mean, it's not the end of the world, but keeping NES games and NES background threads in the NES subforum is more convenient. If we ever decide to create a background thread for this game (for which I promise to contribute flags for all PC and NPC factions, including the extinct ones), it's gonna be lost in IOT in an instant.

Man it was so difficult to find one thread of like, 5 or 6 active threads? We used to have that "problem" in the NES forum too :p

Am I the only one who keeps up with my threads more through subscribed threads in my account? I've always found it more convenient that way, because then I immediately see if it's been active or not.

Also, I don't see anywhere in the front page that specifies that this is an NES. It could just as easily be an IOT.

I have no intention of making a background thread at this time, though it's not a bad idea.

Lastly, what nuke said. In the past we had many active NESes all at once on the NES forum and no one had any trouble finding them.

As for why: I won't be answering that here. Feel free to ask me my own personal reason for this move elsewhere as I will answer bluntly and plainly.

Play Sunless Sea. Let that eat your free time instead.

EDIT: For those concerned, we may have to move to a new thread, as my current front page post arrangement has turned out to not be enough for the current amount of stats and rules.

EDIT EDIT: Good news! Managed to edit and rearrange the first few posts so that everything fits! Hurrah for me!

Edited my orders to actually address my faction challenge, rather then just the Wasteland Challenge.

And I played it a while back in... September? I need to properly sit down to it now that it's complete.

EQ@ Ok just wanted to say that the Maritime Collective has made a deal with the Encalve in trading the boat to them.

Darksaber I posted a bit of diplomacy to you in my orders because I missed what you had sent me earlier. If you can't get around to addressing it this turn it's cool, we can just assume our runner did not arrive at the Union in time for this set of orders.

Ah, I missed that.

Wasteland Challenge solution:
Spoiler :
We exiled the Brotherhood of the Damned once for murder, BUT, if they truly have reformed, and can prove that they do not perform any crime in our territory, then we have no complaint against them; though they must submit to periodic inspection, to ensure that they really have reformed.
Of course, it is against the policies and tenants of the Union to restrict anyone that plays by our rules. So, as long as they behave, we have no official bans or endorsements on either religious faction.

Headman’s Challenge solution:
No. We will got start our relations by smuggling drugs to them. We can arrange an official trade mission for some of the lighter recreational chems and alcohol, but only if their leaders approve it. Anyone caught smuggling things outside of our agreement will be punished, and if they catch you, we won't help.

Orders:
Spoiler :
Scavenging/Military
Time for something smaller.

215 individuals (15 lasers, 130 2-h guns, 30 1-h guns, 10 HT melee, 30 1-H melee) will head down to scavenge the area of Jupiter, keeping watch for any Dragon sightings, and retreating North if they become common.

A small team with go with the Headman to inspect for remaining cashes of salvageable goods hidden around our settlements (as with last turn) this group will have 80 members (draft from the communities as needed for extra muscle) with 5 lasers, 40 2-h guns, 25 1-h guns, 10 HT melee)

Construction:

Construct 2 farming equipment, 2 Water Pumping and Purifying Stations (or water Pumping Station, whichever is more suitable for Lake Okeechobee) in Port Maya.

Diplomacy:
Send ask for some volunteers from our doctors and medics to head south to help the Sawgrass with their health problems. To make sure it's not a plague or anything, these doctors will have stay down there to prevent them from carrying anything home, and to keep an eye on their patients. send a few armed guards (20, 30 odd people with rifles and melee weapons) with them to keep them safe on the road (and in case there are any aggressive sorts in within these Tribals). If the "merchants" in the Union want to send a delegation down, then go with them (the guards can also keep an eye on them).

Trade:
Buy 3 tech parts form the market.

Inter-Faction Reports

INTER-FACTION CHALLENGE
For: Jacksonia, Maritime Collective, New Gulf Commonwealth, Sawgrass Tribe, Sunshine Kingdom, Survivalist Union, Universal Reclamation Project
Recently an unknown illness has begun to spread from the south, with all the indicators of a strain of influenza. Historical texts indicate that in the past the world was occasionally gripped by epidemics of different types. The disease has spread rapidly by merchant caravans and trading companies, and has caused some panic among a number of factions’ leadership councils. Allegedly the disease has emerged from the Sawgrass Tribe far to the south, but there are some doubts about these statements. Some advocate quarantine and other methods of isolation for immigrants and caravans, despite the likely economic effects of doing so. They claim that without proper medical care and preparation, hundreds, perhaps thousands, of lives could be lost. Others claim that the old world also had exaggerated scares and crises which were blown out of proportion by the public. They state that the economic harm and damage caused by a quarantine system would result in decreased immigration, less caps generated, and overall less profitable enterprises. How do our factions respond to this type of influenza outbreak?

Faction Reports

Atom Union
Spoiler :

The Atom Union faced numerous challenges on the home front but managed to surpass them all in their efforts to rebuild society. In Albany, the water purifier fell apart after local disrepair resulted in a catastrophic failure of the equipment within. The whole facility was deemed irrecoverable and abandoned. On top of this disaster, some of the unpurified water managed to seep into the neighboring food storage and tons of foodstuffs were contaminated and had to be destroyed. To compound these difficulties, the town of Easebur was once more attacked by marauders, a larger band than seen previously. Fortunately, an ambitious effort had led to the construction of automated defense systems in all three towns of the Union. The system proved vital as it enabled the community to repulse the raider attack with only minor losses. In other security news, the Union began producing its own protectrons, adding to the defensive capacity of Albany.

An expedition was sent out from Albany to scout out the north, with a listed destination of Fort Valley. They took an easterly route, passing first through the town of Cordele. The town there was mostly gutted and worthless, but they managed to retrieve a decent amount of scrap while travelling. Vienna was the next stop, and as before the expedition managed to retrieve a modest amount of scrap. Unfortunately, when nearing the area around the ruins of Umadilla, they were attacked by a large band of raiders. Unable to overcome the enemy, the expedition fled as quickly as they could. Thankfully, for whatever reason the raiders chose not to pursue the scouts back home. The meager amounts of scrap retrieved were added to available stockpiles, the expedition was overall considered a minor failure.

Commissioner’s Challenge: After a decent amount of time with a market, our people have thoroughly adjusted to the new de facto currency of the wasteland. It has become a core component of society and our interaction with the larger world. Some of our leaders have proposed that we tax people biannually, seeking to increase how many funds we have available. Obviously, our people would prefer to not pay taxes, and there could be ramifications towards any extremely hefty taxes. How do we respond to this proposal?

Commune of Freeport
Spoiler :

The Commune of Freeport has begun taking its first steps into a larger world. This has been spurred as expeditions through Grand Bahama have turned up empty-handed with no supplies of any kind remaining on the island. Over a century of being internally focused have resulted in the island being stripped bare of anything an expanding community would need. They sought to remedy the situation with the first expedition to the west, as three ships were sent to find the rumored lands of Floreda. They proved successful, making a landing at Delray Beach, where they found the area to be eerily empty. Scouts reported unidentified flying creatures to the west and south, but little other signs of life were found on the barrier islands. The local hotels near the landing site were rapidly scavenged for supplies and parts were dismantled for scrap. The expedition returned with a decent stockpile of parts of all kinds, coming home triumphant.

Mayor’s Challenge: A salty captain from the mainland has arrived at our community for the first time. He claims to have spotted our ships while they were scouting out the Floridian coast. He also states that there’s hundreds of desperate people on the mainland seeking out somewhere safe to live. He requests access to our town so that he may bring these would-be immigrants over to our community. How do we respond to this proposal?

Corporate Trade Federation
Spoiler :

The Corporate Trade Federation had an eventful start to the year as a vote of no confidence led to the replacement of CEO David Bowser with a renowned scavenger from the ranks of a minor company in the Federation. The scavenger had received substantial acclaim for his discovered of a sealed truck full of Mr. Handys during railroad surveying to the south. Plans were made with the Sunshine Kingdom for a possible railroad to be built connecting the two factions at Satsuma. The survey itself was unable to find any existing tracks on that route and only a minimal amount of salvage. Another major event was the welcoming of the Cult of the Damned to set up a new facility, suppressing the Fellowship of the Palm. People have cautiously welcomed this group, though there have been some mutterings about their odd beliefs and connections with the Sunshine Kingdom’s leadership. Lastly, a large number of deathclaws emerged from the ruins of Jacksonville and launched an astonishingly coordinated attack upon Fort Jacksonville, leading to numerous casualties as the beasts rampaged through the streets. Eventually the creatures were put down, leading to a return of calm and order, though many were killed in the disaster.

Railroad Survey Results
For a track from Saint Augustine to Satsuma, the cost of construction of tracks and two small bridges would be 2,300 Scrap Parts.

CEO’s Challenge: A child has gone missing and later turned up brutally killed in Saint Augustine and many people are beginning to cast blame upon the newly arrived Cult of the Damned. No physical evidence exists of their involvement in this, but the mob seems to be against them. The leaders of the Cult have loudly protested their innocence in the matter, but a crisis could erupt between them and the crowd at any moment. How do we respond to this incident?

Empire of America
Spoiler :

The Empire of America found a good portion of its food stocks to be spoiled towards the beginning of the year, and mutterings about a crisis seem to be on the verge of spurring panic and unrest. Still, the emperor has carried on with regular business, sending a new expedition to the north in an effort to expand the empire’s territory. The expedition passed through the small town of Fayette on their way to the listed destination of Carbon Hill. Fayette was found to be empty of any habitation and even radioactive in some parts. Some minor scrap and salvage was recovered before the expedition pushed onward to the north. At Carbon Hill they found a fertile landscape well suited for farming, as a large raider clan calling themselves the Carbonites ruled over a large slave population, presumably the former citizens of the town. The Carbonites had heard of the empire’s other conquests and were more than eager to swear fealty to the emperor as their own supplies were running low.

Emperor’s Challenge: We are reaching critical shortages in a number of types of supplies! Before the end of the year we will run out of food, water, and probably ammunition. Hundreds of people could die from a shortage of the basic food and water intake, and without ammunition our leadership will be helpless to stop any demands or coups made by the raider types within our faction. We will face death and revolt should the shortage persist, how do we respond?

Georgia Reclamation District
Spoiler :

The Georgia Reclamation District has continued to make leaps and bounds towards the reconstruction of the land from the Great War. The town of Oakwood, fearing an immediate attack from the vicious raiders known as the Braves, called for the support of the GRD, and received it. With the arrival of such heavily armed reinforcements, the Braves took one look at the encampment and withdrew into the wastes. The town was then annexed peacefully into the GRD, though there have been some complaints about the manner of the annexation and the lack of any decisive defeat of the Braves. Demon’s Rest, a town to the north was annexed under different terms as emissaries from the GRD and the Enclave arrived to convince the town to join the District. Initially they were hesitant and arrogant, but their demeanor was broken after seeing demonstrations of the GRD’s robotics and the Enclave’s firepower. Demon’s Rest was thusly annexed into the District.

As per the normal procedures, a number of salvaging expeditions were sent out into the backwoods of Georgia, seeking to find good supplies and scrap. They had mixed success, as a number of sites turned out to be more deadly than expected. The first was the town of Talmo where the expedition was nearly overrun by a large band of raiders. Their trucks and robots were destroyed and they were nearly overwhelmed before the Enclave rapid response team arrived to aid them. The raiders were repulsed and driven into the woods. An even larger band of raiders attacked the expedition to Winder, where similar events took place, and the Enclave was once more required to save the skins of those in the GRD’s force. All robots were lost, and not a single person made it away from that fight without at least an injury. The expeditions to Braselton, Hoschton, and Auburn had far less eventful operations, finding those towns to be empty of habitation and easy to salvage. The expedition to Lawrenceville had unusual encounters with a large number of giant ants. The entire city appeared riddled with hives and nests as literally tens of thousands of the creatures appeared to be in the area. Some small fighting took place as salvage was undertaken in the outskirts of the city.

Governor’s Challenge: All’s Well and Dobbins Air Reserve Base have begun requesting Mr. Handys to be deployed permanently to their settlements. They have stated that local salvage efforts could be undertaken to a highly effective extent in the area and that the Vault doesn’t use all of the robots anyways. On the other hand, the vault’s leaders are unwilling to give up their robotic assistants and chefs, as they make the standards of living in the vault much higher. How do we respond to this debate?

Jacksonia
Spoiler :

Jacksonia has managed to begin the year quietly and prosperously, after the setbacks of last year. Salvage efforts have continued without delay or interruption, even as the material resources of Pinellas County begin to diminish. Scavengers reported the find of an old police depot, and hundreds of small firearms were recovered and brought back to faction stores. New deepwell facilities were constructed in the Fruitlands with the Sunshine Kingdom’s aid, dramatically increasing local water production and providing for an ever larger population. Jacksonia returned to assert their salvage claims in southern Orlando as they established a new outpost at the old airport there, calling it Terminus. Old railroads have already been cleared and laid for a direct path for the airport. Many are excited about the potential for future development in the region.

One of the most anticipated and fought over positions for the people of the Fruitlands was an ambitious expedition to the south. A vessel was launched from the Fruitlands to explore the waters to the south and perhaps find the source of the wealth of the mysterious merchant. When the merchant found out, he immediately threatened to end business should the faction continue to seek to undermine him abroad. The expedition went forward regardless, and business has continued with the merchant so far. The ship bypassed the Florida Keys far to the west, avoiding the rumored Enclave outpost at Fort Jefferson. Eventually the ship reached the Cuban coast, and found very little except unheard of radiation readings. They were forced to keep a large distance from the coast, finding the entire area to be highly radioactive and impassable. A settlement was found along the northern coast, claiming to represent the governance of the entire civilized part of the island. They spoke what sounded to be a bastardization of Spanish, and very little could be easily communicated between the ship and the people ashore. They expressed an eagerness to trade, but when asked about the mysterious merchant, all fearfully became silent. The ship managed to return home without incident, after determining the rest of the northern coast of Cuba to be equally uninhabitable.

Overseer’s Challenge: Our secret police in Fort Freedom have discovered an unusual development while searching for enemy agitators. They have discovered an unusual segment of wealthy people who occasionally partake in feasting upon human flesh. They have presented contracts showing that these people voluntarily allowed themselves to be eaten in exchange for a large amount of caps. Obviously this has raised objections from a number of people in our community, who believe cannibalism to be an abomination. How do we respond to this discovery?

Maritime Collective
Spoiler :

The Maritime Collective has quietly begun another year. Many were discussing about what to do with the recently recovered USS Alabama that was retrieved last year from Mobile harbor. Initially the leadership of the Collective determined to scrap the ship for whatever value they could retrieve rather than seeking out repairs. As scrapping was about to begin, the Collective was approached by the Enclave offering to provide a finder’s fee for recovering government technology. The arrangement was agreed upon and shortly after Enclave technicians and soldiers began swarming over the ship. They have since begun repairs but have continued to remain in Pensacola harbor during the process. The other big event for the Collective was the deployment of a force to Bay Minette to recover salvage from the area. The expedition was only moderately successful, bringing back scrap but little else. They reported the area would be highly idea for a settlement, as local fertility of soil was deemed highly impressive.

Mayor’s Challenge: A merchant has appeared on a large ship from the south and made an intriguing offer. He has stated that he has heard of our aircraft’s capabilities and has offered 500 Ammunition and 10,000 Scrap Parts if we were to launch a single bombing of the Fruitlands settlements. He has stated that this is to retaliate for an insult against him and his operations. How do we respond to this proposal?

Mississippi Democratic Republic
Spoiler :

The Mississippi Democratic Republic has managed to achieve some great successes and efforts as the year began. Construction was completed on new farming and water retrieval equipment, helping improve local production and supply for a growing population. Scavenging was a bit difficult as scouts headed east from Natchez found little but wilderness and wildlife. Thankfully they did find an old survivalist’s bunker, filled with tech and firearms in fairly decent condition. The parts were retrieved and brought home. Fighting from last year was resumed as a major force was sent out to Alcorn University to clear it of raiders and retrieve any remaining scrap in the area. The operation was a complete success and plenty of scrap was recovered after the remaining raiders were defeated.

A small group of scouts were sent south once more into what was once Louisiana. They sought to confirm rumors and explore the region for any sites of interest. For the most part all they found on their journal were overgrown roads and farms. Eventually they did reach an intact town, populated with friendly people near the ruins of what was once St. Francisville. This down, called locally as Hackdirt, was completely friendly to the outsiders and welcomed them with a hearty feast. It was discovered that despite their friendliness, the people of Hackdirt are dedicated slave owners, stating that their slave populations have been bred for centuries to be perfect and docile servants. It seems that the community as a whole worships what they call the One and Three but refused to comment any more upon their beliefs. The expedition returned home to report their discoveries without any issues.

Chairman’s Challenge: Two of the scouts who went to Hackdirt have reported having strange dreams and hallucinations after returning from the expeditions. When the others have been questioned, they have reported that they too have experienced unusual symptoms of varying types since travel down there. Some of our people have called for a crusade to destroy the cursed place, while others believe we should quarantine those experiencing odd symptoms in case of contagion. How do we respond to this issue?

New Gulf Commonwealth
Spoiler :

The New Gulf Commonwealth has once more narrowly averted disaster by water shortage. They have continued to face a constant challenge in maintaining production with a growing faction and population. The water shortage has grown increasingly dire as immigration only increases over recent months. A large number of pumping facilities have been constructed throughout the Commonwealth in the hopes of alleviating the crisis but the shortage has continued to grow despite these efforts. Many are concerned that too many caps will be going to the purchase of water as the people struggle to make ends meet. Other than the crisis very little news came out of the Commonwealth for the time being.

Governor’s Challenge: As the water crisis remains a problem, some advisors to the governor have once again brought up the issue of taxation. They have called for biannual taxation of all Commonwealth citizens of ten caps a head. This would present the faction with the funds it needs to continue the purchase of water to make up any shortfall. Opposition to the plan have argued against taxation and government intrusion into private life, claiming that the Governor should continue to focus on building more water production facilities than rely on trade. How do we respond to this debate?

Sawgrass Tribe
Spoiler :

The Sawgrass Tribe has continued to enforce quarantine and containment among its citizenry to prevent further spread of the unknown disease among their people. The efforts continue to be successful as few have died and it seems likely that local medicines are taking care of the symptoms among the population. Scouts were sent out to find people taken in raider attacks last year, but they had little success and it’s believed that they were likely sold to local slavers. Another expedition was sent to Belle Isle to wipe out the local mirelurk nest and to conduct salvage operations. They were highly successful, not losing a single person to the monsters and driving them out of their nests back into the depths of Lake Okeechobee. Some scrap was recovered and returned to Stilt Town following the completion of the journey.

Chief’s Challenge: A local child has become obsessed with Mr. E and how he works. The child has attempted on multiple occasions to dismantle Mr. E and take it apart to learn more about it. Other villagers have imprisoned the child and/or beaten him to try to stop this behavior out of superstitious awe for their robotic overlord. How do we respond to this singular child?

Sunshine Kingdom
Spoiler :

The Sunshine Kingdom is no stranger to tragedy and it experienced a new amount of it with the events beginning this year. Three smaller expeditions were sent out to specific areas across the wastes, seeking to discover lost treasures and wealth. The first such was deployed to New Orleans, seeking to explore that mysterious and nearly mythological city along the Gulf coast. None were heard from again. A second expedition was sent out to Miami once again, seeking to explore the city and hit several theoretical locations that could have unprecedented supplies and wealth. None were heard from again. A third expedition departed from the new town of Prosperity to cross the St. Johns River and explore the Naval Air Station. Reports indicated a lot of shooting and witnesses on the east bank of the river saw laser fire in the night, but eventually they stopped. None were heard from again.

Despite the lost expeditions, the Kingdom was able to report some good developments and news across their territories. A new automated defense system was established in Satsuma, providing much needed defense for the toll bridge there. Local people have begun grumbling about higher taxes and tolls around the bridge, and it’s reported that caravans are looking for other options for travel across the river. Salvaging in Orlando and eastern Jacksonville have been fairly benign processes, as both areas have reported fewer and fewer attacks of any kind with each passing month. Salvagers in Orlando are allegedly unhappy about the new Jacksonian settlement of Terminus, claiming that it infringes into what should be Kingdom salvage territory. Railroad surveying took place throughout the lands, making preparations for the possibility of new construction and development throughout the area, allowing trains to once again haul passengers and cargo in Florida.

An expedition returned from Sebring a few months into the year, bringing news of their findings before the Sunshine Congress. They reported that they managed to open the bunker’s blast door without too many problems, and were prepared for anything. Upon entering, they found that walls, floor, and ceiling were all covered in what they initially thought was gore, but turned out to be a living biological mass. There were numerous signs of previous fighting, including what could only be described as injuries in the biomass that were still bleeding. The floors and walls occasionally possessed what appeared to be outstretched limbs and eyes that would follow the scouts as they walked, partially absorbed into the biomass. Some of these still retained emblems of the Talon Company. No radio signals or interference of any kind was detected and the scouts determined that any offensive capacity for the radio network was likely destroyed by the Talon Company during their incursion. The expedition was unable to proceed into lower levels due to the elevator tunnels being full of running blood and biomass. The leaders declared that the area was no longer a threat, pulling out, and resealing the facility before they returned. Nothing was recovered from inside.

Queen’s Challenge: The people who have returned from the Minorne bunker have clearly been disturbed and upset by the things they saw there. Heavy drinking, chem use, and violence has been reported from all of them. The leader of the expedition was a highly influential member of Congress and he has become increasingly erratic and apparently without any sleep. Allegedly he has even made threats against the Queen’s life in private. How do we respond to this possible disturbance?

Survivalist Union
Spoiler :

The Survivalist Union has not had too much going on, keeping things quiet beyond the day to day chaotic lifestyle in Liberty City. A salvage expedition was sent south to Jupiter, finding plenty of scrap and more importantly, a completely intact police station with a surplus of firearms. These side arms were quickly returned to Refuge and put into the local armory. It turned out to be a good year for obtaining firearms as salvagers around Liberty City discovered a decent amount of old assault rifles from a hidden cache of supplies. The Headman is optimistic that there could still be plenty of viable salvage and loot hidden in the ruins around the heartland of the Union. Meanwhile, ample construction has taken place in Port Maya as new farms and water facilities are built and the resources begin to help supply the towns towards the coast. These efforts have helped provide a meager surplus to the Union as a whole, even as the population continues to as expand.

Headman’s Challenge: A local manufacturer of chems has grown increasingly prominent in Liberty City. It’s rumored that his operations extend throughout the entire Sunshine Wasteland and his enforcers are feared by many. He’s begun to make a bit of a power play, seeking to become a more influential member in the governance of Liberty City. He has yet to want to become Headman, but it seems probable he seeks to become power beyond the throne. If we were to move against him, it could easily result in an unprecedented outbreak of violence and unrest in our city. If we accept him into the advisory council, it’s likely he will be able to increase the profits of Liberty City, but he may attempt to force us to adopt policies that could be detrimental to perception of our people throughout the wasteland. How do we respond to this delicate situation?

Transmissippian Confederation
Spoiler :

The Transmississippian Confederation has done a lot to build new facilities and expand its internal production. New farms have emerged in Chairkey Den and a water pumping facility has begun bringing more water into the faction’s stockpiles. A gunsmith in Wolf’s Lair itself has begun producing new weapons to help bolster the defenses of the Confederation as a whole. The most anticipated structure was the creation of a new temple and the formalization of worship of the Great Wolf. New castes and holy orders have been created, allowing for a spiritual new path for anyone deemed worthy to follow it. Expeditions to Vicksburg and Redwood had fairly strong successes, bringing back plenty of scrap for the faction’s stockpiles. Neither town was too difficult to travel through, despite a wide variety of wasteland wildlife in each area. For the most part, animals kept out of the expeditions’ way as they proceeded about their work.

Pack Leader’s Challenge: The new water pumping facility is working as planned, but there is a snag. A small number of people have been made sick by the unpurified water. Some may die if they continue drinking the water, but the only way to prevent this would be shutting down the plant which would decrease our water production. We could also move the people to another location in the Confederation, but that would separate them from families and clans, which could lead to unrest. How do we respond to this issue?

Universal Reclamation Project
Spoiler :

The Universal Reclamation Project has significantly increased its production despite a minor setback. A good deal of the city’s food stocks were discovered to have been contaminated by a radroach infestation, leading to it needing to be disposed of. Thankfully, local food production and remaining stocks were more than sufficient to maintain the park and the normal residents of Universe City. Despite some requests for Mr. Handys to be used for domestic service, all twenty-five were directed to aid in salvage efforts throughout the ruins of Orlando. These robots have dramatically increased local scrap production as they systematically dissemble parts of the urban ruins. The new level of production has raised hopes for development and expansion, and it seems likely that these efforts will continue in coming years.

Master of Ceremonies’ Challenge: It seems that some of our enterprising citizens have begun selling chems to tourists. This has caused some disruptions here and there, but has been mostly harmless. Some of our leaders argue that this still could create risk for any travelers or tourists and no one wants to go somewhere on vacation where they may be murdered. Others argue that the chems will attract more markets and interests who will spend money in Universe City. Should we allow the continuing trade in chems?

Vault 24
Spoiler :

Vault 24 has had a quiet start to the year. They have faced a problem with a radroach infestation that has contaminated much of the vault’s food stores. The infestation was eradicated, but unfortunately a large amount of food was destroyed in the process. Further issues were had when an expedition was sent out from the vault to scavenger for scrap in Tallahassee. A large number of ghouls happened upon the expedition, destroying a number of robots and killing almost half of the entire expedition. The rest were badly wounded and barely made their way back home. They were welcomed back and treated as the community looks towards future survival and development.

Overseer’s Challenge: A new delegation has arrived from the Enclave. They have called us some of the true survivors of America, and have made a proposal. They have offered our overseer a position in the legitimate American government as the new Governor of what our faction would become: The Florida Reclamation District. They state that in exchange for becoming the FRD, accepting the position of governor under President Eden, and allowing a small Enclave garrison to take residence in the vault, they will provide ample support in both strategic resources and military equipment, training, and protection. How do we respond to this proposal?

Workers’ Republic of the Reclamation
Spoiler :

The Workers’ Republic of the Reclamation has continued to thrive on the home front, building up their capabilities and continuing production of new robots. These robots have been immediately assigned to salvage operations in the ruins of Savannah. Two major salvage operations were launched outside of the Savannah area, the first to Parris Island. This operation encountered some resistance from the remaining automated base defenses in the area. The fighting was brutal, but the expedition overcame the defenses and managed to once more begin salvage operations. A moderate amount of scrap and tech was recovered and returned to stockpiles in Viracocha.

The second expedition sent out was far more ambitious in its reach and nature, seeking to reach the Georgian ruins of Augusta and exploring the neighboring areas between that and Savannah. They encountered hardships and problems all along the route, but came out with an overall success. The first opposition turned out to be in Millen, where they ran afoul of a raiding cannibal tribe from eastern Atlanta. The fighting turned out to be fairly easy and the raiders were wiped out without a single casualty. Also in the ruins they found an old National Guard warehouse that was sealed up apparently immediately after the war. Within were a number of nuclear powered jeeps in perfect working order. Only the tires had to be replaced and a small group of volunteers managed to drive them back to Nanabozho without incident. Other towns passed proved to be less of a problem, until they reached Augusta itself. They were warned about the city by a friendly town outside to the south, called Waynesboro. When the expedition left the safety there, they found Augusta to be full of vicious chemmed up raider clans, fighting each other and the newly arrived group called the Braves. The expedition ran into lots of opposition in the process, and had to fight their way through the ruins. Casualties were fairly heavy before they managed to cross the river into North Augusta. The return journey home through South Carolina was less eventful until they ran into a giant ant hive in New Ellenton. The ants put up a good fight, and managed to inflict casualties when the expedition ran out of ammunition. Thankfully no other opposition was found all the way back to friendly territory and they brought home plenty of goodies to keep the engineers and workers occupied.

Chairman’s Challenge: As caps become more of a de facto currency among our people with the new market, some of our leadership have suggested taxation to help improve the stability and purchasing power of the government. They suggest that a biannual cap tax will enable us to collect more per person to enable us to buy things for their benefit. Should we tax our people, and if so, how much?

From: Nukaloosa

We are definitely interested in aligning ourselves with you, but are not interested in abandoning our homes. What sort of terms would you offer for unification between our two communities?

To: Transmississippian Confederation
Spoiler :

From: Moor’s Head and Minter City

As more tribes seem to be endlessly crossing the Mississippi River, we request admittance to your new Confederation. We have combined our requests however for the terms of our admittance. Our leadership must have a voice in the Confederation and be able to withdraw at any time we choose should we feel the leadership is no longer to our liking. Furthermore, we will require that you assure us that outposts will be established in a timely manner west of our cities to act as guardians to future incursions from the west.

@Golden1Knight: The current name of your CEO is a placeholder if you choose to replace it in your following orders.

For the observant among you, you may notice a new section called Foreign Ports of Call. We are at the limit of the area the map will be expanded to for the entire NES. Despite this, there are numerous places around the Atlantic that may be open for business for trading and exploration (and yes, occasionally salvage). If you’re feeling bold and don’t mind risking ships or caravans to these various destinations, you can go out and trade at the prices listed. They will typically be better than you may be able to purchase locally and will be for resources, not for caps (for the most part).

Yes, we have moved from the NESing forum to the IOT forum. I don’t think this should be considered too much of a hassle to deal with, and will be personally offended if the slightly different clicking outweighs your desire to continue the NES. This is a personal decision by myself, and as I’ve already stated, I’ll be happy to give reasoning privately to anyone curious. If you do have any concerns beyond inconvenience, please let me know so I can address them if needed.

From Transmississippian Confederation
To Moor’s Head and Minter City

Welcome to the Confederation, brothers and sisters! Just as any member community, you will have the rights to vote in the Great Council and secede at any point.

As for your request to establish new outpost, we have been considering this option ourselves recently. Are you aware of any abandoned military bases, bunkers, urban ruins, and cave systems west of your towns? As a used-to-be nomad tribe, we don't possess enough knowledge about the land in order to determine good locations for fortified camps. Please share any knowledge you possess with us, and we'll be happy to follow your advice.

From Transmississippian Confederation
To Twentiers

Greetings, and may the Great Wolf be with you. Name yourselves and your intentions on this bank of the Mississippi River. Not so long ago we ourselves were a nomadic tribe from the west, but after we settled here we had a rather brutal confrontation with the second wave of newcomers.

Spoiler Chairman’s Challenge :
As caps become more of a de facto currency among our people with the new market, some of our leadership have suggested taxation to help improve the stability and purchasing power of the government. They suggest that a biannual cap tax will enable us to collect more per person to enable us to buy things for their benefit. Should we tax our people, and if so, how much?

Spoiler Chairman’s Solution :
A biannual tax of 2 caps will be collected from the workers, with the assurance that each and every cap will be given back to the community for the good of the reclamation.

Spoiler Construction Orders :
- Construct 5 Mr. Handys for 5 energy, 15 tech (move to Tabaldak).
- Convert 1,960 scrap to ammunition
- Construct and Urban Ruins settlement (name: Wakanda) in Statesboro’s Georgia Southern University for 500 scrap
- Construct a settlement in Perkins (name: Nesaru) for 1,500 scrap.

Spoiler Expedition Orders :
- Expeditions of 15 Mr. Handys and 100 soldiers (25 laser, 25 1-H, 50 Low Tech Melee, 15 Power Armour Suits) are to continuously run out of Tabaldak, scavenging central Savannah.

- An expedition of 400 (10 heavy weapons, 200 laser, 50 2-H, 100 1-H, 50 High Tech Melee, 200 Low Tech Melee, 150 Power Armour Suits, 30 Nukajeeps), bringing whatever amount of water and food is deemed necessary, is to head to Waynesboro. There they will thank the town’s citizens for the friendliness offered previously, and in return offer membership in the WRR to the settlement. The WRR committee assures Waynesboro that all scrap currently possessed by Waynesboro will be used solely for their own community, that none of their population will be relocated against their will, and that Waynesboro will be exempted from the newly imposed tax for a year to allow the benefits of the reclamation to sink in. The raider gang menace to the north in Augusta destabilizes the whole region, and while Waynesboro is a strong community, there is no doubt that the raiders will eventually turn their greedy eyes to the peaceful town. The WRR wishes to protect all from the horrors of the waste, and assures Waynesboro that the soldiers of the Reclamation can protect them from the Braves. To punctuate this, the expedition will stage an elaborate parade to showcase the advanced weaponry, vehicles, and power armour for the peoples of Waynesboro.
Depending on the town’s reaction, one of two actions will follow.

1) If Waynesboro agrees to join the WRR, then the expedition will launch an assault upon the Braves in Augusta, backed up by whatever troops and resources Waynesboro is comfortable giving (ideally, 200 troops with 2-H guns). The overall goal is to capture the Braves’ settlement more or less intact, but if that’s not possible, level it, and scavenge anything useful. If troops incur over 60% casualties, fall back to Waynesboro.
2) If Waynesboro rejects the WRR, then the expedition is to leave and head west to scavenge and scout the following settlements: Louisville, Sandersville, Milledgeville, Wrightsville, Swainsboro, Dublin and Sopertown.

- As I’m not aware of how everything will turn out regarding population and weapons losses, I can’t really say how to distribute resources across the new settlements. The minimum population in the new settlements will be 50 for Wakanda and 100 for Nesaru. Weapons distribution should be roughly split evenly (including Waynesboro, if possible), favouring the two new, unfortified, settlements.

It should be stated that the update will be begun on Wednesday. Ye've been warned.
